Do you even find yourself suddenly remembering a particular scenario, and wondering where the people involved are today, if the behaviour is still carrying on, did she ever LTB, etc?

Even if the thread had a resolution to the scenario, if things ever repeated again?

The one that came into my mind vividly today was about a woman who'd gone to collect her child (believe it was a DD) and came home to find that her husband had left the key in the door on the other side meaning they couldn't get in, and despite being able to see 'D'H in the window and signalling to him, he refused to come and open the door as he was on a work call? From memory they were left waiting for about an hour and DD had to wee in the garden.

I remember feeling so outraged for her, and find myself wondering now if it was just a one off or if the bastard has continued doing shitty things to them.

Any other ones that have left an impression?

OP posts:

Does anyone remember the one from years ago where the OP was broke and people started to say things like, "I've got a spare packet of pasta, I'll send it to you" and before too long tons of people were doing it and sending vouchers and money, too, and then someone said, "Hang on, she's got tons of stuff now, more than anyone else on the thread" and then it all turned nasty? I think there was one woman co-ordinating events, too.

Soubriquet · 12/07/2021 18:02

Well, thanks to this thread ESD has discovered that she was famous because of Jo Brand AND found a Reddit thread about herself (I told her about this thread). She is most amused

Amdone123 · 12/07/2021 18:03

Running in the rain was an amazing thread. Dumped by text. She's absolutely so inspirational and was actually the impetus for me to join mumsnet.
Also there was one about fashion mistakes. I think the op bought a white coat but instead of having the desired effect, she said she looked like a middle aged taekondo instructor. The thread was so funny. I read it in the middle of the night and laughed so much, I was scared of waking the household up.

ladymuck111 · 12/07/2021 18:04

The one the other week where the lady had turned up with the DC at her husbands work and the 'rep' came in and there was a weird atmosphere.

There are loads I wonder about that usually just disappear or get taken down.

TheGumption · 12/07/2021 18:04

Softzilla although I don't know if that was a troll?
Also the really fucking creepy one where the poster had, I think, recently moved into a rural area and weird shit was happening at her house. People knocking or something? I remember red baubles too but I don't know if I'm combining two threads now.
It all escalated and the OP didn't want to out herself so got her threads deleted. I always think of that when I'm on aibu.

Twickytwo · 12/07/2021 18:04

@TastyMeatPuppet. The dog story was on a revenge thread. I have always hated these threads. Lots of posters suggesting horrible ideas for revenge. I noticed MN HQ deleted a recent thread about a poster tracking her husband. I think they are cracking down on posters sharing vile, illegal ideas for revenge.

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 12/07/2021 18:06

I often wonder about the woman with the horses who left her H. I hope she’s having a brilliant life.

The other one that I remember is the woman who didn’t like people just popping by, so she made a mum from her DC’s school sit in the front garden and it rained. The other mum had popped round so the kids could play I think. It was bizarre.

MyFartWillGoOn · 12/07/2021 18:08

@Battytwatty

Shitfuckcommaetc Mon 12-Jul-21 17:13:08 There was a lady who was being extremely controlled and abused by her husband. Not being allowed a job out of the house, and him waking her at 5am when he got up as she wasn't allowed to lay in.

I think about her often, and wish I could help her

I think I remember this thread. It was so sad and I also wanted to her her escape this prick too

If it is the one I'm thinking of, she posted again recently with another snippet asking for advice.

(The husband would wake her up and get her up when he did. And when he worked through the day at the dining room table, she was to sit at it with him - without tv or anything- to keep him company. I think he also talked her out of another job or course so she could stay at home)

She posts every so often and I'm always hopeful that when I spot her, it means some of the veil has been removed and she's starting to see what an awful situation she's in.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/07/2021 18:11

I’m ESDs friend on Facebook. She’s fine.

The ones that stick with me:-

Pinot and her kittens
Cup and Beatrice
The mother of the beautiful red haired little girl who died suddenly and she started a wood. Mia?
And the woman whose dd was badly burnt when her husband chucked petrol on a bonfire. She did come back to update a year or do later.

blahblahblah321 · 12/07/2021 18:11

This was recent, but what happened to the poster who's neighbours child had a severe dog allergy?

It was only last week I think, thread hit 1k and I've not seen a thread 2 since! I wondered if that was all a fib...

Vaguely, and wasn't the Co ordinating person sending monthly Hermes parcels or something?
silvergoldstars · 12/07/2021 18:13

Margaritte and sadwidow.

enigmatoto · 12/07/2021 18:13

Winterfellismyhome
I often think about the lady who packed up her car and left with her baby whilst her husband was at work. I think DV was involved

I, too, wonder about this one…

BanditoShipman · 12/07/2021 18:14

I remember an op who said she’d save her pets (cats?) rather than her children in a fire

An op who said she has sex with her husband WHILE breastfeeding their baby

And an op who had sex with their boyfriend while her toddler daughter was running in and out the room I think?

GrandTheftWalrus · 12/07/2021 18:14

What does OTBT mean? I think I have the right letters anyway.

me4real · 12/07/2021 18:15

One where a woman went to a hostel but went back to an abuser, I hoped she would make a new thread with a new attempt (the old thread was full.) He kept grabbing her when she didn't want it and stuff.

It might be good if we asked on the threads we remember how things were going, or message the OP.

Off the beaten track

I liked ESD as I had horrible PND and was obsessed with her diet and ESD posted that she’d fed her son a chocolate bar on the way to school. It made me realise that obsessing over this stuff is bull and you should just try and enjoy them while they’re still little.

GrandTheftWalrus · 12/07/2021 18:17

Ah right. Thanks

@enigmatoto @Winterfellismyhome I don't suppose that was Theredtoothbrush or something like that? It was a really moving thread. She was back on Relationships board under a slightly different name and has a new home and I think a job, is doing ok.

I think the second could have been an influencer called Bekah something. She's got into a load of hot water recently for admitting she breastfed her baby while having sex. Disgusting.

This reply and others in the same sort of tone just mystify me.

A random woman gives her son a chocolate bar.

A woman is of a different social class to a PP.

That isn’t some sort of achievement.

me4real · 12/07/2021 18:23

@silvergoldstars No-one's saying those are achievements as such. Just interesting/meant something to them as people.

quizqueen · 12/07/2021 18:24

There was one where the elderly neighbour wanted to cut a hole in the hedge 'to pass things through'!! Also, the one where someone in a listed building had someone, who had bought a house adjacent, who had taken out a sash window and put into a patio door giving access to her private garden.... not sure if that was genuine but it went on over several threads about a Spanish gran.
