'Where Are They Now' if AIBU threads?

Do you even find yourself suddenly remembering a particular scenario, and wondering where the people involved are today, if the behaviour is still carrying on, did she ever LTB, etc?

Even if the thread had a resolution to the scenario, if things ever repeated again?

The one that came into my mind vividly today was about a woman who'd gone to collect her child (believe it was a DD) and came home to find that her husband had left the key in the door on the other side meaning they couldn't get in, and despite being able to see 'D'H in the window and signalling to him, he refused to come and open the door as he was on a work call? From memory they were left waiting for about an hour and DD had to wee in the garden.

I remember feeling so outraged for her, and find myself wondering now if it was just a one off or if the bastard has continued doing shitty things to them.

Any other ones that have left an impression?

@Ijsbear

It used to be quite interesting to correlate IPs and pieces of info and such like. Not new news, but it is amazing and scary just how much you can find out about an individual given 3 pieces of random info.
Yes, this is why I never give my correct date of birth for anything but official purposes. Once a 3rd party has that it’s very easy to combine with other info and identify exactly who you are. So if you are providing those sorts of details (say to a website) take claims they will anonymise your data with a pinch of salt - they may detach your name from the other data but it would be very easy to work out.
@Biscoffbiscou from the hints & clues she was giving , I thought it was nigella lawson

I'd love to know how OP is getting on. She seemed so strong in a shitty situation
I didn’t spot that! She did seem very level-headed.

It’s a while back but I remember a few people guessing Shirley Ballas? Which I think the OP denied. So can imagine Nigella might well have fit the profile!

@Wallpapering

Thanks Geamhradh

There’s a few I remember but given all programs been watching since lockdown hard to know if they tv program plot or real MN

I don’t really remember usernames since those that were around time of catTheThief. Can’t even remember what my username was that got added to condolences list.

She was funny and great loss

There have been a few troll threads based on TV scenarios!
MolyHolyGuacamole · 17/07/2021 10:54

Just remembered another one. OP was WFH and her window overlooked the street and she could see one week that the neighbours were exiting the car with the kids and they all had McDonalds. EVERY DAY, you know.

Wonder if she's still being a nosy nelly on the neighbours. And if they're still eating Mickey Ds on the regular 😂

Remember the woman who asked others 'AIBU to ask what your vulva looks like' ... she was soon told yes, this is absolutely unreasonable to ask
@AutistGoth it’s ok to add to a thread in Classics, they don’t count as zombie threads.

Whatever happened to Wilf’s mum (Lotte?) Used to love hearing about Wilf’s adventures.

The thread I always think about is a lady whose friend (I think) had fallen pregnant by an American man in the military who had persuaded her to move to the States with him but it quickly became apparent that he (and his mother) only wanted her because of the baby. It was incredibly obvious - if the baby was born there it would be an American citizen and the op’s friend wouldn’t be able to take him out the country without his permission. I think he was treating her Like shit and it was horrifying as she was essentially trapped. Unfortunately she was very very naive and kept putting herself in an even more precarious position.

I think, IIRC, that the op’s friend did eventually manage to persuade her dp to let her take the baby on a holiday to England and there was a lot of advise to not go back with the baby. I lost track of the thread then, but this is the thread I think about the most - it was terrifying
Wilf and his mum are doing well.

I'm fairly certain that she was banned for being a troll. Her posts certainly never rang true for me.

@tentotwelve @Willlow @cabingirl @Trudij123 @LuaDipa

I think you might be talking about me, if so I'm really touched you remember me. I've always been so extremely grateful for the help I received through MN during a really horrible experience.
I will never forget the lovely words of support, sage advice and the handholds when I didn't think I could go through yet another day of living in hell. I don't know if you can realise how much you helped me. Thank you!!

I'm so glad you're okay! You might not be able to say but did you ever pin down who was responsible? I'm assuming you moved somewhere with nicer neighbours in the end!

Thank you so much for the post. You had a horrific experience and I hope everything has been resolved.

I think you should write a book, I have never heard of such crazy behaviour.

I had a post which lots said they had reported as being fake. I even messaged HQ to ask if it could be deleted. They said no and to not respond to the comments and that it wouldn't appear in active threads. I guess Mumsnet saw 15 years of posts and must have assumed my story hadn't changed. I had more sleepless nights over the comments that I did with my original issue. I had a different username then.

RevolvingPivot · 23/07/2021 18:44

Mine wasn't in AIBU though so I'm not sure why I commented.

SecretKeeper1 · 25/07/2021 18:55

What happened to the poor girl last week who’d been chatting to a seemingly nice man online, but he turned up at the hospital where she worked and intentionally ignored her? She knew it was him because of a distinctive tattoo. I hope she’s ok and got to the bottom of it.

Flowers I'm sorry this happened to you
thenightsky · 26/07/2021 21:53

A poster a few years ago called (I think) something like lollipop who's DH was planning to 'punish' her with another pregnancy. She already had 3 DC and he was deliberately careless towards them, putting them in situations where they could be harmed etc. Awful.

This got deleted by MN because it wasn’t “helpful” or something. I presume there was some sort of bun fight. I’d like to know how that OP is though. I was quite frightened for her in all honesty!
Bluetoybear · 26/07/2021 22:32

@Toottooot I think about catlady and mini often. She sounded very vulnerable 😥

Queenie6655 · 27/07/2021 11:29

Mine was deleted too

I called out for help
But didn't call police right away and so many said well if you don't call police you must be a troll

It was promptly deleted and I lost loads of valuable advice
I had been updating during the day as the fckwit attacked me that morning

Sussexroyalewithcheese · 27/07/2021 15:57

The one where the OP had saved up money for an operation but her husband wanted to give the money to his daughter. In the end I think the OP left him - hope she's having a much better life now! (Think user name had 'dogs' in it but really can't remember)

Sorry to hear that. It's awful. I often see lots of the doubting posters commenting on other posts and often replying to me (under a different username). I sometimes want to mention it but they will think I'm mental. My post is still up and someone asked for an update and other posters were so mean. I wanted to reply and give them an update but I know their replies would make me feel shit.
