Do you even find yourself suddenly remembering a particular scenario, and wondering where the people involved are today, if the behaviour is still carrying on, did she ever LTB, etc?

Even if the thread had a resolution to the scenario, if things ever repeated again?

The one that came into my mind vividly today was about a woman who'd gone to collect her child (believe it was a DD) and came home to find that her husband had left the key in the door on the other side meaning they couldn't get in, and despite being able to see 'D'H in the window and signalling to him, he refused to come and open the door as he was on a work call? From memory they were left waiting for about an hour and DD had to wee in the garden.

I remember feeling so outraged for her, and find myself wondering now if it was just a one off or if the bastard has continued doing shitty things to them.

Any other ones that have left an impression?

AndrewFogg did (quite recently, maybe last year at some point) say that yes, the dog story was true and he apologized for his utterly shit behaviour. He wasn't forgiven iirc and I haven't seen him post since.

The travelling on buses poster was oddsocks. A Mumsnetter put her up for a night or two and it turned very weird and they had to ask her to leave. She also went to meet-ups so probably a few people on here met her.

Margritte and Sadwidow were freak central. Margritte rather jumped the shark by whinging that her weekly hamper from Sadwidow hadn't been to her liking or something.

Them were the days eh? Trollathon galore.

Does anyone remember the mum who was having a terrible time with the family courts, she was trying to restrict her ex’s access to her little boy. One judge in particular was horrible to her. She used to have to meet the ex in a car park to hand her son over. The little boy was frightened of him and the dad used to insist on giving him baths which he hated.

PattyPan · 12/07/2021 18:29

@me4real I think they are thinking of the same poster as BattineBlooms and I - her name was something like ItsDorothyTheDinosaur

DameCelia · 12/07/2021 18:29

Yellowblinds who had a MIL who shouted outside the house until let in while Yellowblinds was working from home. Always Wondered how that ended.
And Bountyicecream, her husband behaved really strangely about her parents. Something very odd about him.

whynotwhatknot · 12/07/2021 18:32

@MyFartWillGoOn i dont remember the sitting down with him part but horrible if its yet another poster with the same type of abuser

DanceIndiaDance · 12/07/2021 18:32

I recall two. One was where the OP found a mystery room or door leading to somewhere but she couldn't get it open and was waiting for her partner to help. I was on the edge over that one!

Second, was a lady who suspected her friends DP was living a double life. Think he had no social media, claimed to work for the government and some really wierd things. She tried to so some digging but it was never resolved

Ah - that's right, Oddsocks. Suppose at least that one was true - Magritte and Sadwidow, what was that?
GladysNarracott · 12/07/2021 18:38

I often wonder about the poster who had moved to her husbands country of birth, New Zealand I think. He'd tricked her into moving because his family had promised him a position with the family firm or something.

She absolutely hated it and was trying to work out a way to get herself and her kids back home to the UK. She just disappeared from the thread. I hope she's OK.

LanaDelBoy · 12/07/2021 18:39

Years ago now but a poster whose husband was seriously injured in a car crash and that was when she found he was having an affair. Sounds very made up but it was quite convincing..?

Another long-term poster found her dh was having an affair. Think user name was something like Euphemia.

NEVERENDINGST0RY · 12/07/2021 18:40

there was a lady on here whose DH had an affair and left them. It was someone at the school who had access to her children (a TA maybe). At least one of her children had additional needs and he left her to do everything. I always think about her and hope shes ok.

The other one that I remember is the woman who didn’t like people just popping by, so she made a mum from her DC’s school sit in the front garden and it rained. The other mum had popped round so the kids could play I think. It was bizarre.

What was bizarre, IMO, was the majority of posters thinking this was perfectly ok. Or at least justifying with reasons why.

TheQueensCousin · 12/07/2021 18:44

The poster who's DH worked in Hong Kong I think?? He was having an affair. She flew over and waited in the hotel foyer to watch his coming and goings. I think it was over New Year. I often wonder how she is although she came across as someone with inner strength.

Last I heard she was getting legal advice. Her STBExH's attitude seems to be, 'oh well.'

EmmalineC · 12/07/2021 18:44

Sad Widow and Margaritte were possibly the same person. Either way, they conned Mumsnetters out of gifts and money for two consecutive Christmases.

silvergoldstars · 12/07/2021 18:47

@me4real

That isn’t some sort of achievement.

@silvergoldstars No-one's saying those are achievements as such. Just interesting/meant something to them as people.

Grin

You mean ‘I saw a poor person post. It was utterly mesmerising.’

Possibly. But I think tbf SadWidow was exactly that. She was certainly the biggest Auntie of them all. I do think Oddsocks might also have been a very well known MNer. And I know I wasn't the only one to go "hang on, is she actually... "
Jumpjumpjumper · 12/07/2021 18:47

There was a thread recently... A lady in her 50s or so, who had been planning to leave her husband/partner. I think his sons weren't nice to her but I could be making it up. She'd got things in place to leave. I could never find the thread after.

LuxOlente · 12/07/2021 18:48

@DrSbaitso

There are a couple I've never forgotten. One was a young woman of 24 with an older husband. She was a teacher and loved her job, and while she did want children someday, she didn't want them just yet. Husband wanted them now and made it clear that when they did, he would pay nothing towards childcare or ever do any school/nursery runs or sick days at home, because if she wouldn't be a SAHM, then she had "chosen" this. Obviously everyone tried to convince her that her instincts were right and he was a sinister abuser, but she couldn't accept it and disappeared after saying that it just wasn't worth it, she would do what he wanted. I think her username was calicocat or something similar.

Another one was a woman whose children were starting school and she was looking forward to going back to work. Her husband did not want her to and she realised he was starting to lie about using condoms. She recalled a time when he came and then smirked and she realised he had not been wearing the condom despite saying he had. More and more sinister behaviour came out, things she hadn't realised were worth mentioning or at all relevant. She started to see how wrong it was but said she didn't have any way to leave, she would have to disappear. And then, it seems, she did.

Yes, that second one. He'd always been an abuser but she'd only cottoned on when he jeapordised her University course, and slowly seemed to realise how much danger she was in. But wasn't prepared to really leave. He sounded like a serial killer.

Thanks for this. I hope she managed to get back.

@RuggerHug

The one where the OP kept finding hair that wasn't hers or her DSs in the bathroom. That took a bad turn and every now and then I wonder if they're OK.
...was someone living in their house unbeknownst to them? Or (more likely) another woman?
OP posts:
MolyHolyGuacamole · 12/07/2021 18:56

@BattineBlooms

I sometimes wonder what happened to the woman who found £10k in her bushes. Did she keep it?!

Also the poster who used a a picture of a hotel room and claimed it was her bedroom. That was a very funny thread! She was adamant it was hers.

Oh, and the young mum who was a bit rough around the edges, shall we say. She had a surprise baby, I think? Then she was hacked or something. Quite a shocking story!

These all sound amazing! A tad hard-to- believe, yes. But amazing!

TableDesk · 12/07/2021 18:57

First one I remember was a lady who owned and independent book shop and had a young toddler baby girl. Was going through relationship difficulties.

Second, was (I think?) a male actors name over on the relationship board. She was a sex worker who was very eloquent and factual and gave great insight into the whys and How's.

The moldies or something?

Anyone come over from the BBC BAP?

MolyHolyGuacamole · 12/07/2021 18:57

The hotel bedroom poster is still around.
The surprise baby poster is on my FB. She was hacked before her second child was born. She's doing fine.

Oooh nice, a loose thread all tied up!

There was one from a husband who thought her therapist had encouraged her to believe she had been abused but sister said it didn't happen. So sad the listed building one was fake; it was a great story.
