A library thought it appropriate to book this 'entertainment' for children and I feel sick

I thought it was a joke, a photoshop job, a hoax even but it's not.

WTF

A children's entertainer in a library with this costume?

What the hell is this?

So someone is seriously defending this? And saying that the dildo is an anatomically correct way to show a monkey? These people are sick.

334bu · 13/07/2021 09:00

This is the same group of people who , instead of attacking the male person exposing themselves to women and girls in a spa, turn around and say that it is the fault of a child for looking at this person's penis.
Twisted minds.

candycane222 · 13/07/2021 09:02

Worrying article Margaux.

That screen shot I shared above came from a thread (already mentioned above I think) which started off by saying there was "concern in GC quarters" therefore

  1. making the link in people's minds between the rainbow monkey an trans issues
  2. labelling the view that the monkey costume was inappropriate 'gender critical'.

Given that Mandinga Arts agree it was inappropriate, does that ...make Mandinga Arts terfs??

candycane222 · 13/07/2021 09:05

Its WiSpa allover agin isn't it? It was absolutely fine but also it was faked/mistakes were made.

The messaging is as shambolic as Boris Johnson's covid advice.

334bu · 13/07/2021 09:09

Unfortunately the messaging from the actual performance is crystal clear; desensitisation of children to sexualised behaviours thus rendering them more vulnerable to future abuse.

WeatherSystems · 13/07/2021 09:10

The most sickening part of this for me is the other library’s response saying ‘if you’ve got it flaunt it I suppose 🤣’ it’s just so casual. Did it honestly not cross their minds at any point this was supposed to be for children?

I can see how something like this could happen, maybe the person who organised it want present and the staff present didn’t feel able to speak up, assumed that it was fine by management, felt they lacked the authority to stop it, worried about getting into trouble for preventing an event from occurring that had been paid for and so forth. It wouldn’t put me off attending the library in the future at all if it was clear it wouldn’t happen again.

But the fact it happened and then the library and other libraries all condoned it and joked around about it, about the actual DICK itself, that’s really sickening to me for some reason. Like they’re fully, totally fine with it and find it hilarious.

candycane222 · 13/07/2021 09:10

Oh my bad I don't think the whole thread was necessarily about rainbow monkey, it turned up about half way through. Good thing I'm not a barrister, Id lose all my cases!!

candycane222 · 13/07/2021 09:11

Yeah 33 you're right

BatmansBat · 13/07/2021 09:12

I actually find this sinister. Nobody here has suggested that the rainbow dildo butt monkey is trans.

What women are saying over and over again is that men with fetishes are hiding under the Stonewall/diversity umbrella.

Here we have a group of performers with a performance so inappropriate for children and Muslims that I am sure that they get off on it. They are rainbow dressed and performs at pride. This is exactly what women have been warning everyone about.

It is almost as if they are terrified that people in general will realise that there are perverts lurking.

And some of them (completely innocent) are so afraid that they will be mistaken for perverts or their access restricted that they defend the indefensible.

334bu · 13/07/2021 09:18

No you were quite.correct candy, it is exactly the same mindset that considers the safeguarding of children against adult sexual proclivities as unimportant. If it is ok for a male person to flash his penis at women and girls in a spa , then what's wrong with a rainbow monkey simulating sex acts in front of children and religious women

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 13/07/2021 09:20

Have none of the activists ever watched a single animal documentary?

It's not anatomically correct!

Keepemguessing · 13/07/2021 09:30

The Daily Mail has reported it, with an anti-Labour slant.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9781507/Parents-disgust-Labour-council-hires-actor-rainbow-coloured-monkey-costume-fake-penis.html

334bu · 13/07/2021 09:40

Other than saying council is Labour led , which it is, where is the anti Labour slant?

Keepemguessing · 13/07/2021 09:59

@334bu

Other than saying council is Labour led , which it is, where is the anti Labour slant?
The fact that the DM made a point of mentioning 'Labour led council' throughout the article.

I'm glad this incident is being reported in the mainstream press. Sunlight!

candycane222 · 13/07/2021 10:02

I really get why a LGB and quite possibly T people are horrified by this. I am old enough to remember the old LG/paedo conflation, and indeed, as a child, not knowing it was necessarily untrue- didn't really understand till a friend set me straight in the 1980s. And Im not old old, so willing to bet that particular prejudice is still around. And obviously homophobia is still very much a thing.

How any of the wokes think defending this horror show helps anything I just can't understand at all. Yet there they are.

ChristinaXYZ · 13/07/2021 10:18

Really good piece by Jo Bartosch here including a wider perspective on Wes Streeting and the position of gender critical women in the Labour Party:

TedImgoingmad · 13/07/2021 10:31

@Beamur

If there is evidence, this could be reported to the Police? I wouldn't have much confidence in them doing anything mind. But a monkey costume clearly intended to be fetishistic in a children's reading event. Come on!
The police are quite happy to pose with pup fetishists at Pride. These pup fetishists also encourage children to pet them, while the police look on and laugh. I doubt they would do anything about this. And that's one of the many reasons we are where we are. The police are complicit in wearing down women and ignoring women when their boundaries are violated, ignoring sex crimes and DV, whilst at the same time, seeking to arrest women on specious "hate speech" charges. Women are the gatekeepers to children. Once women are neutered, children are fair game.
BrozTito · 13/07/2021 10:33

Why are most of those tweets purely interested in playing party politics over this malign shite ffs?

endofthelinefinally · 13/07/2021 10:35

TedImgoingmad

That is exactly right. The police are totally captured and are complicit in the silencing of women and the grooming of parents and children.
I have personal experience of exactly how paedophiles use parents to access children. I wish I had known then what I know now. I am also very aware that many parents haven't a clue.

BadGherkin · 13/07/2021 10:37

I don’t think “Dr Sarah” is a medical doctor or a vet.
There is no way a dildo is an anatomically correct representation of monkey genitalia. The reaching to downplay this is frightening.

TedImgoingmad · 13/07/2021 10:39

Anyone in the LGB community horrified by this should get behind the LGB Alliance and question their own continuing support for Stonewall, who have opened the doors to these people. Nothing after the "LGB" in LGBTQA+ has anything to do with homosexuality, and the legal rights and freedoms same sex attracted people rightly should have, equal to those enjoyed by straight people.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 13/07/2021 11:05

That fucking Daily Mail article might as well have been written by a BOT. Massive anti labour slant, mentions tax payers money about 3 paragraphs in, no mention of the Muslim women being mooned at. Mandingo Arts is completely absent from the piece, because they are a business and business = good. Angry

Beamur · 13/07/2021 11:29

I think the photo used in the article is very eloquent though!

Cailin66 · 13/07/2021 11:30

Were those sexual monkeys ever at a children's reading event before Redbridge? Can't understand how a man thought dressing up like this for an event for children as young as 4 was acceptable.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/07/2021 11:41

Cailin66 Having had a look at their (now deleted) online presence, it seems that they have been in regular use? Unbelievable to think that parents have just accepted this, but as we've seen, the threat of being accused of bigotry / pearl clutching is a powerful disincentive to reporting safeguarding concerns.

Hopefully the increasing number of violations will empower adults to speak up and refuse to be silenced - especially where children are concerned.
