I hope England do win even although I'm not a football fan. I don't want to be a pessimist but I think the odds are against a win. We'll never hear the end of it.

Domestic rates increase by 38% when England loose the football

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 20:05

@Geamhradh Thats shit. Why do football fans DO this. It desnt happen with rugby or cricket.

Demelza82 · 11/07/2021 20:08

I'll take the misery over the widespread violence that will take place tonight regardless of the result. This country is a dumpster fire waiting to happen.

I know. I was watching Wimbledon with dp earlier and we were saying, look at how these crowds behave. Difference between an M&S sandwich and a flask and a bellyful of ale I suppose.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/07/2021 20:10

Footage from London tonight - fat naked man juggling his bits and another one with a lit flare jammed on his bum cheeks. Ankle deep in rubbish in Leicester Square (things being fling), flares being set off...

Won or lose, it’s going to get ugly.

Having lived near one of London’s football stadiums for quite a few years, I’m equal opportunity when it comes to football thugs having had the pleasure of various country teams visit our area.

After a football match is the only time I’ve had multiple middle class men shoulder deliberately barge me because I have the temerity to be walking in the opposite direction to the crowds because I’ve commuted home at the wrong time. This is despite being hard up against the side of the walkway, doing my absolute best to stay out of people’s way.

After a football match is the only time I see men openly pissing on people’s door steps.

Football is one of the few sports that can’t trust its fans to drink on the stadium grounds.

You also don’t see thugs destroying tourist areas in Central London before/after other key sporting matches.

Load of misery merchants out in full force on SM. Also the 'So glad I'm not there in London cuz Covid'.

Ratalie · 11/07/2021 20:33

Thats shit. Why do football fans DO this. It desnt happen with rugby or cricket.

It's simply down to popularity. For example, in Wales there is more violence during the rugby than during the football;

jomec.co.uk/thecardiffian/2017/11/28/rugby-fans-worse-football-fans-say-police/

It's similar in other countries where rugby or cricket are the dominant sport, rather than football.

Steady flow of ticketless fans were still rushing into stands when the opener was scored. Aisles so full, stairs blocked and the disabled area in front of the press box is packed. Paying supporters pleading with helpless stewards to get them out. Kids scared, seats stolen. Unsafe

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 20:42

Oh i see.

SmackMyAssnCallMeJudy · 11/07/2021 21:07

No, the worst is definitely football. Not necessarily England.

Gilead · 11/07/2021 21:12

So glad I escaped Dh a few years ago, the week would have been awful if we lose.

Ratalie · 11/07/2021 21:15

40%+ increase in violence when the Australia rugby team plays (doesn't break it down by wins/losses).

I wouldn't like to have an Italian restaurant near Leicester sq or Wembley if they lose

Rugby league, not rugby. Very different game and patronage to rugby in Australia.

Porridgeislife · 11/07/2021 21:42

Also, State of Origin is a state based game - nothing at all to do with the Australian rugby team. Rugby league is Australia’s football in terms of % of knuckle dragging hooligan patronage.

NCd4this · 11/07/2021 21:45

On the contrary, we'll never hear the end of it if they win. I have no skin in the game but like pps I hate to think of the DV if they lose.

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 23:33

And we have lift off ....................already.

@MercyBooth what was that? Deleted now

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 23:49

A fight kicking off I think it was near or inside Wembley. Im sure i saw a steward trying to calm things down

MercyBooth · 11/07/2021 23:54

I can still see it as its in my TL but when i click on the body of the Tweet it disappears. Some blokes were kicking a bloke who was on the ground and there was more than one steward there trying to sort it.

Billlius · 11/07/2021 23:57

I have seen a very chilling video on Twitter where Italian fans are being set upon and kicked by English thugs. Gave me the shivers.

MercyBooth · 12/07/2021 00:00

this is the same incident
