Where will you be watching the final tomorrow?

I know not everyone will be watching but just interested to see the consensus.

I.e. at home, at a friends house or party, a fan zone, a pub, Wembley etc.

I'll either be at home or just going to a friends. There'd probably be a lot more in pubs if not for the restrictions. Having to book etc will put people off (and it being a Sunday night).

@ThursdayWeld If you cared to look, you will see I did answer the question.

3Britnee · 11/07/2021 12:59

*sorry, if you are from Scotland.

I live in Europe too but I'm still rooting for England to win. Why wouldn't I? I'm not ashamed of my country/kingdom/whatever other pedantry you want to invoke.

🙄

Good for you! But here you still are...

SecretSpAD · 11/07/2021 13:01

But ironically it was you that thought that England was an island on one of the many threads you posted on about hating England yesterday, so back to basics indeed, enjoy your Italian wine.

Did she? Oh dear. Someone's education is a bit lacking isn't it.

I'm not patriotic at all. I disapprove of how the English flag is used and by whom it is used. I'm not even a football fan - in fact if it wasn't for my dad and daughter I wouldn't bother watching it tonight at all.

I also don't deny that Covid has impacted Italy and every other country. However....

Like it or not, this is a big thing for the English football team and something exciting for people who are interested across this country (you do know England is a country don't you dear?).

It is also exciting and a big thing for italy and I'm sure in that country there is as much excitement as here.

In terms of the UK, if Scotland (home of my maternal grandfather), Wales (home of my husbands family) or Northern Ireland we're in the finals instead of England, then I'm pretty sure that most of the people in the UK (yes, I meant to say UK because my extremely expensive private education taught me the difference between UK and England) would be cheering them on.

I do, however, realise that there are a few fans out there who let themselves and the side down, but despite what the red tops say, they are in the minority.

Yes we know, you will be some where in continental Europe drinking Italian wine, on your roof top terrace cheering on Italy.

LifeinPieces21 · 11/07/2021 13:03

What are the point of your posts Snoin?

We get it, you hate England. Go and join a forum that is supporting Italy.

StartingAgain33 · 11/07/2021 13:03

I was going to watch at a friend's. My WiFi isn't working at home at the moment so couldn't watch it here. Although I'm tempted to stay home and listen on the radio. Would that be silly?

Motherofalittledragon · 11/07/2021 13:04

Not watching it, football is not my cup of tea!!

DrCoconut · 11/07/2021 13:05

Hoping to watch the new episode of the handmaids tale. Doesn't look like football will ruin it. Should be good.

DrCoconut · 11/07/2021 13:08

I should add that my grandad will no doubt be watching from the great beyond. He loved football. I don't hate football fans I just don't get all the hype about it as it doesn't interest me. Hope everyone has a great evening whatever you're doing.

I always say that the best way to watch a match is on TV with the volume turned down, and the radio on - so much more gets explained on the radio!
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/07/2021 13:08

I love how snoin says she is in continental Europe, heaven forbid we assume she's in one of the poor European countries 🤣

ApolloandDaphne · 11/07/2021 13:09

We are Scottish but currently visiting our DD and her DP in Leeds so we will be watching with them. It should be interesting!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 11/07/2021 13:09

@aiwblam

I am Shock at the poster’s dh who will be supporting Italy because he’s Scottish. It just seems hateful. I am no more than a passing interest in this match and whilst my family watch it at home, I’ll probably be watching bits of it whilst doing admin/sorting. But to actively support Italy against a home nation is really odd. If he was neutral, that would be reasonable, but to support Italy based on dislike of English neighbours is, I don’t know, a bit grotty. We’re not supposed to be hating each other and wishing loss in 2021 are we?!
My DH is similar - it really dampens the mood when he has such sour grapes. If Scotland were in a final against someone I'd support them, I don't get it Hmm
Chicchicchicchiclana · 11/07/2021 13:10

I feel like I'll be the only person in the country watching it on my own Sad.

Wilkolampshade · 11/07/2021 13:11

My first answer was 'watching what?' but frankly on more mature consideration, why the fuck would I not watch it? Won't hurt will it? None of us are particularly sporty, but it's clearly a big deal and will have real emotional impact for many - crikey, I might even enjoy it!
So will be watching from home, glad we're altogether after the past, hellish year and anyway, any excuse for a bottle of fizz whatever the outcome. Smile

PhilSwagielka · 11/07/2021 13:11

Snoin, you really need to cool it with the anti-England posts. We get it. You hate England. You've said it many times. Let people enjoy things.

PhilSwagielka · 11/07/2021 13:11

I am too!
ThursdayWeld · 11/07/2021 13:11

I think I'll go and find a forum that is mostly fully of Italians and go on multiple threads to tell them how dreadful I think Italy is, how I won't be supporting their awful football team, and how glad I am not to live there.

I wouldn't look at all odd if I did that, would I?

TheRosesOfSuccess · 11/07/2021 13:11

@ThursdayWeld

I must rush on to a thread about dogs and announce that I don't have a dog Grin
Grin It's pathetic isn't it. As I've said before, it's because football is considered common by some and they have to prove to people who really don't care that they aren't common.
PhilSwagielka · 11/07/2021 13:14

I don't get it either. I give zero shits about tennis, although I like Murray and want good things for him. I just stay out of tennis threads, I don't feel the need to go 'rar rar tennis is shite'.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/07/2021 13:17

@aiwblam I'm English and loved in Scotland for 16 years, most Scots were supportive of England's football team but you would get the odd one who'd go to the pub and cheer the opposition they didn't even support because they hate the England team (and probably the English) so much. Bizarre!

snoin · 11/07/2021 13:17

@PhilSwagielka

If you can tell me where I have used the word 'hate', I will happily apologise.

BillyIsMyBunny · 11/07/2021 13:21

I’ll be at home. I doubt I’ll watch the whole thing but might turn it on periodically across the game to check the score.
