There should be no England fans at final IMO

I cannot believe there is not more disgust at the actions of one (or more) English fan(s).

Aside from trying to cheat way to an England victory by distracting the goalkeeper during a penalty, lasers are phenomenally dangerous to eyes. The goalkeeper could have retinal damage.

I think a “lesser” nation would have been kicked out, but England won’t. But in my view the fans should be banned - there has to be consequences for criminal actions. Otherwise it will happen again.

Suspect I’ll be in the minority but it’s frankly embarrassing we have fans who do this.

Not been watching football long op?

SlipperyDippery · 08/07/2021 22:24

@User135644

Plenty of vile stuff on Twitter last night from the Danish fans

I don't think that's fair. Twitter can be vile anyway but the Danes, particularly their team and manager, have been very restrained after being cheated out of the game.

Are you on a wind up or do you just not know very much about football?

Agree the Danish squad have behaved with class, as have our players. It’s the fans that were vile on Twitter.

Teddy1970 · 08/07/2021 22:25

Brilliant post ExtraOnions I couldn't have put it better myself..

LyndaSnellMBE · 08/07/2021 22:25

You’re pathetic OP, but you know that already. Your jealousy and bitterness isn’t doing you any favours.

User135644 · 08/07/2021 22:26

are you saying nothing vile was tweeted … or, it was ok for them to tweet vile stuff because they were “cheated” ?

I said Twitter is vile anyway. Denmark fans felt so cheated last night and some have reacted in anger and with calmer heads this morning may have deleted those tweets or at least calmed down.

Their players and manager have conducted themselves in the upmost class from the first game of this tournament.

SlipperyDippery · 08/07/2021 22:26

This England team are all about the dark arts and the fans are even worse

Oh I see you are on a wind up

Sleepinghyena · 08/07/2021 22:26

@username18702 I was about to post the same. Welsh.
Probably the same poster as the other night....

Cam77 · 08/07/2021 22:26

If Denmark want to replay the game fine, but I expect they’d lose by 2 or 3 goals. England were comfortably the better side.

As for the UEFA fines - no problem with that. I just wish they’d also take proper action against racist incidents which are so prevalent in many other European nations games, both domestic and international.

WhatAShilohPitt · 08/07/2021 22:27

Don’t be ridiculous. You can’t punish an entirely innocent team of players, all of the coaching staff and every single England fan for the behaviour of one individual. Beside, the penalty was saved. The goal was scored from a rebound that the keeper clearly saw and dived to keep out - it’s really clutching at straws to insist that the laser prevented him saving it!

MsSquiz · 08/07/2021 22:28

You do realise that kasper schmeichel actually saved the penalty? The goal was scored due to where the ball was then sent and where Harry Kane was.

I do not agree that all England fans should be banned, but the perpetrator should be banned for attending any professional football game in any stadium

SamW98 · 08/07/2021 22:28

@Teddy1970

I know, the racism that the England team have been subjected to by rival fans is shocking, but lets brush that under the carpet eh? All the other nations fans are paragons of virtue according to some posters on here.. and as for the Danish goal being allowed and Harry Kane being brought down in the penalty area, yes lets ignore that too...

Yep - funny how nothing being said about the fact the Danish free kick that lead to the goal shouldn't have been taken until their players were the correct distance from the wall
Ad that England had a clear penalty appeal turned down

Its hardly like a player going over easily is unique to England and winning a soft penalty is a rare and once in a lifetime scenario - it happens most weekends. Whether people like it or not, a bit of game play to get an advantage is part and parcel of sport.

And yes lets ignore the fact that the England players are probably the most racially abused national team in Europe - I mean who cares about something like racism when we can get up in arms about a player taking a bit of a soft tumble eh - obviously THATS what's really important

And isn't the point that the referee gave the penalty decision which was checked and confirmed by VAR?

remy3 · 08/07/2021 22:28

Just report the thread people as this thread is clearly designed to bring out the worst in everyone.

Rise above the petty jealousy and spite!

Ah … so because they were upset it was ok for them to tweet vile things, as they have now “probably deleted it”. However some England fans tweet vile things, and we are all monsters

I applaud your logic

TheVanguardSix · 08/07/2021 22:29

Personally I think they should be disqualified, as it is in the future I think it will be remembered in the same way as hand of God. It was disgraceful and has taken the shine off a very good win.

I was thinking the same, but then you'd just be punishing our players, who have, as slippery said, kept it classy. And that would be so unfair to give stupid yobs that much power. It's not like an England player shone the laser on the Danish goalkeeper (abhorrent as that was). I hope they find the bastard.

User135644 · 08/07/2021 22:29

@Userg1234

Right point 1 the laser yes shit. But you clearly have no idea about following England. Let's have some examples of where we were cheated out of games :
  • Maradona hand ball
  • Lampard goal not given dispite being over t the line
  • Sol.Campbell goal disallowed for no reason
  • Foul on Rooney which removed him from the tournament but no penalty kick
I could go on...bet your not English
What about Lineker's two dives against Cameroon in Italia 90? Or Owen against Argentina in 98 and 2002? Beckham and Rooney kicking out at opponents to get sent off at a World Cup?

England have always given as good as they got in the dark arts, but the fans still bleat on about a handball from the 80's.

Goldenbear · 08/07/2021 22:29

From what I could see, the Danes where definitely not cheated out of the game. The Danes appeared strong physically but England played the better football which is the important bit!

AlternativePerspective · 08/07/2021 22:30

OP, so if someone in your child’s class does something wrong I presume you believe your child should be punished for it?

Sloaneslone · 08/07/2021 22:30

@toocold54

But they would also need to remove the Denmark go as well.

I didn’t realise a laser was shone on our goalies face too!!

The lazer wasn't shining on his face when the goal was scored. He saved the penalty.

But it doesnt appear that Denmark first goal, shouldn't have been allowed.

So if we are revisiting and taking away goals we aren't sure should goals or because rules were broken, then both should go. No?

I am not even English. I was quite neutral about last night. I thought the Danish press were horrendous today, using covid death figures as a joke about how they should just let the English have this one.

But it appears most people who really dislike England doing well at football, aren't really sure what happened or sure about football at all.

Didn't Denmarks fans boo someone else's national anthem? Are there calls to ban them?

So England and Denmark banned, who should it be in the final with Italy then?

Or are Italy to be banned too? What can we find on them.

AlmostSummer21 · 08/07/2021 22:30

@romdowa

It would be stupid to punish everyone for one person but why didn't the Danish goalkeeper alert the referee to the fact that he was being blinded by a lazer? Surely there is a system for the players to alert the ref or linesmen to an issue.
He would have if he'd noticed.

The English tabloids have done a lot worse.

ExtraOnions · 08/07/2021 22:32

There was contact on Sterling, in the box … it may have been light contact, but it was contact - the on pitch referee, and the VAR referee agreed it was a penalty.

Amazing how many armchair, I only watch football when it’s on terrestrial TV, fans suddenly know better than professional referees

Justanotherlurker · 08/07/2021 22:32

1. Most of Europe hate our fans and Team and 2. We were all tarred with the same brush and banned for years!!!

No most of Europe do not hate our team, nor our fans, the fans that hate our team and fans are the other side of the coin that you are ashamed of when it is English fans, you should go look up some inter european rivalries in the native languages to see the english are not unique at all.

I know - I can't quite see Gareth Southgate as a satanic cult leader but obviously his mild mannered bank manager appearance hides the fact he's Lucifer himself
Teddy1970 · 08/07/2021 22:33

@Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint

I am so depressed at the behavior of English fans, was watching with my children and was so upset at the booing during Denmark singing their national anthem, the laser has been the final straw! I would ban the English fans right now tbh!
Why? Because of one or two idiots out of 60,000? You need to get a bloody grip, we don't know if the laser pen was from an English fan yet, we're all assuming it is, and as for booing, it does happen in football, the South American teams have booed us many times, search and you'll find it, (Argentina I think?) I honestly think many people on here haven't watched much football..
