There should be no England fans at final IMO

I cannot believe there is not more disgust at the actions of one (or more) English fan(s).

Aside from trying to cheat way to an England victory by distracting the goalkeeper during a penalty, lasers are phenomenally dangerous to eyes. The goalkeeper could have retinal damage.

I think a “lesser” nation would have been kicked out, but England won’t. But in my view the fans should be banned - there has to be consequences for criminal actions. Otherwise it will happen again.

Suspect I’ll be in the minority but it’s frankly embarrassing we have fans who do this.

Sorry, was in watching the same game as some of you last night. There appeared quite a few 'accidental' trips, barges and kicks that stopped the English players every time they seemed to gain some momentum! Equally, England played the better game.

Teddy1970 · 08/07/2021 22:17

@Sloaneslone

I don't think many people would say booing another teams national anthem is good. Or that the lazer was good.

But to boot the team out or ban fans for other people's behaviour, is piss poor.

Shame people don't really care about teams the exhibit racism. Just booing a national anthem, is a big deal.

And do people who keep shouting 'they cheated' also believe Denmark cheated, as their first goal probably should have been disallowed.

So if the goal England scored off the penalty AND the first Denmark goal got disallowed. England still would have won.

I know, the racism that the England team have been subjected to by rival fans is shocking, but lets brush that under the carpet eh? All the other nations fans are paragons of virtue according to some posters on here.. and as for the Danish goal being allowed and Harry Kane being brought down in the penalty area, yes lets ignore that too...
wanttomarryamillionaire · 08/07/2021 22:17

Except if you watch the actual footage the keeper wasn't actually dazzled or blinded in the slightest! It didn't phase him at all! That said it was disgusting behaviour by whoever did it, and if caught they should be banned for life! You cant punish thousands of well behaved fans for the behaviour of a couple of morons!

User135644 · 08/07/2021 22:17

@toocold54

Honestly I am shocked that they haven’t removed the last goal and put the score to 1-1 or said to have a re-match. The laser was a strong laser that must have been off putting and I feel like it’s bittersweet because would we actually have won the game if that didn’t happen!? I feel like this will go down in history as the time England cheated to win and it’s such a shame as they have played amazingly!
Like Argentina in 1986 it's always going to be a tainted victory. Sad thing is, England didn't need to cheat to win. THey're a better team than Denmark and had home advantage. Why do it? It's like England get off on winning by cheating, rather than than by winning fair and square.
Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint · 08/07/2021 22:18

I am so depressed at the behavior of English fans, was watching with my children and was so upset at the booing during Denmark singing their national anthem, the laser has been the final straw! I would ban the English fans right now tbh!

rosalie11 · 08/07/2021 22:18

What happened? Sorry I been watching but not watching.

ExtraOnions · 08/07/2021 22:18

I think some of these people have never heard of the various “Ultra” football gangs about Europe … make the England fans look like teddy bears …

@WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia

You sound Scottish, op.
Not all of us from Scotland thankfully are whigning, anglophobic double standard numpties, but the vitriol I've seen recently I wouldn't be surprised if op is. I hate it. Had aggro today from someone at work for being happy at the result!
SamW98 · 08/07/2021 22:19

@ExtraOnions

Having gone to football most of my adult life … some referee decision go your way, and some don’t. Sterling didn’t award himself a penalty, a professional referee did - and the VAR referees did not contradict him.

All football players play to get free kicks .. including the Danish Team, Italian, Spanish and all others. It’s part of the game.

As for fans booing anthems - it’s not just the English that do it. If you want animosity between fans, watch some Italian derby matches.

Fireworks? Where was the fuss when the Dutch fans were letting off smoke bombs ?

Laser pen was wrong, the person needs banning.

Plenty of vile stuff on Twitter last night from the Danish fans

The comments about the young German girl were despicable and should be dealt with.

ALL England fans like that? Was Prince William behaving like that ? David Beckham ? Alex Scott ? Nah

I know a number of people who went to Wembley, and had a great time.

You want to get annoyed, get annoyed about the racist and homophobic abuse some teams fans are peddling.

Absolutely brilliant and completely accurate post

My friends were very lucky to apply 2 years ago and managed to get tickets for the semi and the final - these are mature sensible grown adults (men and women) when like that easy majority of the crowd have enjoyed the atmosphere and the football and behaved exactly as sensible adults should

Over the years, many decisions have gone against England and we have been on the end of some of the worst abuse from opposition fans.

And yet it seems its only when, for once, we get a soft penalty and a tiny minority of fans act like mugs, our own people cab't wait to come out and slag the national team and the fans off

It baffles me why people can't either get behind the team or just shut up and ignore the event - its not like most of us don't have about 500 other choices of viewing instead

Are you talking about the penalty or the laser? Because the post you’re responding to is about the laser but the players had nothing to do with the laser and the laser had no effect on the outcome of the game.

MrsGRamsay · 08/07/2021 22:20

Ffs @SlipperyDippery - Heysel mentioned because 1. Most of Europe hate our fans and Team and 2. We were all tarred with the same brush and banned for years!!!

Goldenbear · 08/07/2021 22:20

How's it the English players' fault that one fan did this? The English are not known for cheating at all, what are you on about, hardly a cultural regularity!

Clutches Pearls …. Will nobody think of the effect of booing on the children watching at home …. Nothing like a fabulous over reaction
toocold54 · 08/07/2021 22:20

He didn’t have much choice he was trying to keep his eye on the ball. He did well to try and ignore it though I must say!

It’s so frustrating that out of thousands of fans a few idiots tried to ruin it for us. I hope they find who had the laser and who did the booing and ban them for life.

Yes exactly but it doesn't suit the anti English narrative on here so that will be ignored...

I don't think that's fair. Twitter can be vile anyway but the Danes, particularly their team and manager, have been very restrained after being cheated out of the game.

newnortherner111 · 08/07/2021 22:22

Mr Johnson should not have accepted UEFAs demands and the final moved elsewhere.

I don’t think the keeper even noticed, there wasn’t even a reactionary blink. Plus he saved it anyway

Wineandroses3 · 08/07/2021 22:22

One “fan” pointed the laser at their goalie -ONE! Yes it’s utterly disgusting and that one individual should be punished and obviously banned for life but the thousands of other law abiding fans should not be punished for the actions of one complete moron.

SlipperyDippery · 08/07/2021 22:23

@MrsGRamsay

Completely irrelevant
  1. Most of Europe hating our fans is neither here nor there, unless we should be banned because other people don’t like us?

  2. you cannot compare 39 people dying to one laser being shone in someone’s face. The fact we were banned from Europe for years because of mass loss of life in Heysel because of hooliganism en made does not affect the decision here about one idiot.

Justanotherlurker · 08/07/2021 22:23

You sound Scottish, op.

Probably bitter she has to return her Denmark shirt back to Sports direct after she had spilt beer on it after the first goal and might not get a full refund

The first goal which was also from a very soft descision but lets gloss over that as it's only the english who go down easily, despite diving already gaining a new name from an Italian footballer from this very tournament amongst commentators and fans across europe.

In what way is it “not fair” … are you saying nothing vile was tweeted … or, it was ok for them to tweet vile stuff because they were “cheated” ?

They had 120 minutes to score 2 goals, and didn’t mange it.

Both. The player dived to get a penalty and then the fan tried to stop the keeper from saving it. If you're being kind it's unsporting, if you're being frank, it's outright cheating. And these England fans still gone on about Maradona. At least he scored a brilliant goal in that game weary of winning any game.

This England team are all about the dark arts and the fans are even worse.

Userg1234 · 08/07/2021 22:23

Right point 1 the laser yes shit. But you clearly have no idea about following England. Let's have some examples of where we were cheated out of games :

  • Maradona hand ball
  • Lampard goal not given dispite being over t the line
  • Sol.Campbell goal disallowed for no reason
  • Foul on Rooney which removed him from the tournament but no penalty kick
I could go on...bet your not English
