@Crankley

Yes honestly. You make it sound like there are only a couple of English dishes, there are loads. I eat:

Roasts, beef. lamb, pork, chicken with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, veg , gravy and accompanying sauce
Cold meat with jacket potato and salad
Sausages, mash and veg with onion gravy
Toad in the hole
Salmon cutlets either in foil with butter and lemon or en croute
Smoked haddock
Fish and chips from the chippie, my favourite fish is Rock
Steak and kidney pie
Steak and kidney stew with dumplings
Lamb shank
Ham shank
Gammon
Lamb chops
Lamb chops in the hole
Pork chops
Pork escalope with home made breadcrumbs, sauted potatoes and veg
Ham, egg and chips
Sirloin Steak
Omelette wit6h veg or salad
Pork pie or veal ham and egg pie with jacket potato and salad
Fish pie
Chicken pie
Shepherds pie
Lancashire hotpot
Home made burger and chips
Fish cakes
Crabcakes
Home made mini sausage rolls
Prawn cocktail
Langoustines with salad
Cornish pasties
Cottage pie

There are more but getting bored now and won't list puddings.

Thanks @Crankley! I have eaten most of those, but wouldn’t choose to. I discovered stovies on Mumsnet and on the rare occasions (mainly vegan household) that’s my favourite part! Lovely to see that we’ve redirected the thread! @FatCatThinCat German food is lovely ☺️ Potato salad, pork knuckle, trout, dumplings.

Are these English, though? Most are just meat, or meat and pastry. Salmon en croute doesn't sound very English.
NeedToKnow101 · 09/07/2021 18:09

Indian. Even if I make it. I'm not Indian.
Real Mexican food in Mexico.
Thai.

Ninkanink · 09/07/2021 18:10

I’ve got too many favourites. There isn’t actually any cuisine that I don’t love, tbh.

Pedalpushers · 09/07/2021 18:14

Italian. Second place to Turkish. But I've loved food almost everywhere, except the Czech Republic where I didn't personally find much I liked, but I didn't explore a huge amount.

VerbenaGirl · 09/07/2021 18:16

So difficult to choose just one!
Probably Mexican though.
Wahaca is my happy place…

Mintjulia · 09/07/2021 18:17

Italian or Spanish. Lots of fresh veg, cheeses and salads. Fab.

Lochroy · 09/07/2021 18:24

As requested by @FatCatThinCat two foods and a drink to wash it down with. Life doesn't get any better than this.

Okbye · 09/07/2021 19:15

Indonesian. The absolute very best - especially my mums cooking 😋

scarletandblack13 · 09/07/2021 19:16

Yay so many people like Georgian! Its sooo good...aubergine and walnut rolls and adjapsandali 🤤. And the wine! Does anyone know good Georgian restaurant/ wine shop in UK?

KatharinaRosalie · 09/07/2021 19:23

If I had to choose only one to eat for the rest of my days then definitely Thai

EssentialHummus · 09/07/2021 20:04

scarlet if you’re in London Walnut and Spice / Anna Tbileli does Georgian home catering and I think imports some wines, or did. There are a few great Georgian restaurants dotted around - they are ALL called Little Georgia, Old Tiflis or Tamada so it’s a bit difficult to find and recommend a favourite Grin.

CoffeeRunner · 09/07/2021 20:10

Greek or Italian.

Probably Greek if I could only have one.

AdaColeman · 09/07/2021 20:18

Belgian
With Italian in second place.
I also love Polish cuisine.

Agreeing with lots of others to say Georgian. It's such a fab mix of inputs and omg khachapuri, give a medal to the woman who invented that.

randomsabreuse · 09/07/2021 21:30

Drat, forgot Hungarian and I really like the Alpine food from all nations tbf it's all cured pig and cheese but I'm good with that. Favourite food I've had on holiday is Dolomites skiing food. However I've never been anywhere outside Europe...
