Italian or Thai

forinborin · 07/07/2021 22:39

@Flapjak

Georgian??? I have never tried nor come across a georgian restaurant . Can you recommend a recipe to try?

Levant? Am assuming this is persian? Middle eastern. Waitrose has just brough out a range called levant .

My favourite is Thai from a nightmarket in Bangkok. Favourite dish is som tam

To be fair, Georgian home cooking is really, really tricky to get right without experience.

There's a couple of small food retailers in addition to restaurants. I know Walnut and Spice, but I think they do fresh food within London only. Maybe order a very "Georgian" spice mix (eg khmeli suneli), one spicy sauce (eg ajika), one savory/sour sauce (eg tkemali), and slow-cook a strong flavoured piece of meat (eg mutton) seasoned with spice and served with sauces, and see if you like the flavour profile at all.

Looubylou · 07/07/2021 22:40

Indian, English, Italian

HaveringWavering · 08/07/2021 11:29

Love this 😀

HaveringWavering · 08/07/2021 11:30

@BathshebaKnickerStickers

Thai is my absolute favourite.

My DH and I talk a lot about Venezuelan cuisine- however when we went to Venezuela it genuinely was a cheese and ham sandwich. Our choices were jamon, queso, jamon e queso.

So we offer our children the glamorous sounding Venezuelan sandwiches and it’s ham and cheese.

Sorry, I meant “love this!” to be in relation to “Venezuelan cuisine” ham & cheese sandwiches!
shumway · 08/07/2021 11:42

Think I'd go for French - lovely bread and cheese and pastries.

Etinox · 08/07/2021 11:50

@Crankley

Only English. I don't eat any others.
Honestly? What do you eat? I rarely eat English food Shock Agree with pp about puddings but there’s very little about English cuisine which makes my heart sing. I love in order... Ethiopian Indian Vietnamese Tex Mex Thai Italian Spanish German
Crankley · 09/07/2021 14:52

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 09/07/2021 14:55

Hungarian, Italian & German.
they have pretty much all my favourites

I do love a good Chinese takeaway

FatCatThinCat · 09/07/2021 16:53

I would love an example or two of the dishes everyone likes best from the countries they like best, so I can google and drool while I eat my beans on toast. Because when I google 'German food' the only pictures that come up are of bratwursts and chips.

But many of those aren't English dishes. They're just as common in other countries.
allofthecheese · 09/07/2021 16:56

Malaysian or Italian

lastqueenofscotland · 09/07/2021 16:57

Thai probably
Though was lucky enough to go to Beirut a few years ago and had ge most amazing hummus and nothing has come close to it since

Jaxhog · 09/07/2021 16:57

Chinese and Japanese.

But mostly, I like a variety of different cuisines.

Marylou2 · 09/07/2021 17:01

Greek, Turkish, Moroccan , Italian, Spanish. I'm a total pig though. I even love German food. Thinking about spätzle right now.

Youdiditanyway · 09/07/2021 17:01

Lebanese or Greek.

PinkPennyPineapple · 09/07/2021 17:02

Indian, Greek & Italian

southernbelles · 09/07/2021 17:04

Oooh I love food & I'm currently ravenous! So many favourites but it's got to be Greek! Gyros, octopus marinated in vinegar or grilled, taramasalata, tzatziki, fried courgette/aubergine slices, moussaka SmileSmileSmile

cirrusminor · 09/07/2021 17:09

Indian, the proper home cooked stuff Smile (but I'm biased...)

ZaraW · 09/07/2021 17:11

Lebanese

mbosnz · 09/07/2021 17:15

I'm dying for a decent feed of whitebait patties, sausage rolls, sav's, and pies when we go home, lol, so yup, I love NZ cuisine - which is of course, heavily based on English, but also with a lot of Asian influences mixed in, and our own foods unique to us.
But, I also love:

Italian
Spanish
French
Korean
Japanese
Chinese
Thai
Indian
Persian
English
American

Oh soddit. I just love food. Entirely too much!

cushioncovers · 09/07/2021 17:21

Not keen on chilli or any sushi type stuff but other than that I love anything.

nokidshere · 09/07/2021 17:49

I like bit of all cuisines but not any one in particular. There's always something on every menu that I wouldn't eat.

If I was going out my first choice would be Italian followed by french but for takeaway it would be American or Indian.

LindaEllen · 09/07/2021 17:50

I love Italian food - and I'm talking food from Italy rather than Italian restaurants here. They're not the same.

mbosnz · 09/07/2021 17:55

Argh, I forgot Lebanese and Mexican!
