AIBU to think very few people still sit on a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair as adults

This high chair is very expensive, if buying new. But the selling point is you can use it forever, from baby till adult.

AIBU to think that very few teens or adults still use their hight chair to actually sit on itGrin, and the chair probably gets passed on to relatives/friends with children, or get sold.

YABU - I (or my DC) still sit on my Stokke chair as an adult.
YANBU - I (or my DC) am not using it since I can sit on a normal chair.

🤣

never bought one, would absolutely love to hear that some people use it as adults!

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 03/07/2021 19:17

Maybe as an emergency Christmas chair!? Grin

KeyboardWorriers · 03/07/2021 19:18

It really doesn't look like a comfortable chair for an adult

steelseries · 03/07/2021 19:19

I do actually use ours Blush. It's my DC's high chair though (she's 5 now).

OwlBasket · 03/07/2021 19:19

MIL got a set of 6 as dining chairs in the 90s, used them for a good 20 years, children and adults alike.

KeyboardWorriers · 03/07/2021 19:20

I always assumed the objective of buying one was purely to demonstrate how much money you had to burn Grin

An IKEA high chair (£14) worked for all 4 children

OwlBasket · 03/07/2021 19:20

And yes, they were very comfortable

Ilovewillow · 03/07/2021 19:21

We had two for our children. They are actually very comfy as an adult if you have a small bum but still look like a child's chair. Our eldest was 7 when we got rid of hers. My son only 4 but primarily because I broke my toe in two places on the bloody thing because the base sticks out so far. They do have a good resale value though!! Smile

Twinkie01 · 03/07/2021 19:22

DS is 16 and over 6' and still uses his!

Pattygonia · 03/07/2021 19:22

We bought them. Definitely wouldn’t use as adults but were great when child too big/old for a high chair but sill quite small/short (maybe 2-7ish). They are expensive and I wouldn’t buy them for a saving money in the long run reason. We liked the look of them and were happy to pay that but didn’t spend much on some other items (eg our pushchair was v inexpensive).

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 03/07/2021 19:24

Had ours 18 years now and I have it as my sewing machining chair (when it's not in use as a cat ladder). It is really comfortable.

edgeware · 03/07/2021 19:24

I have sat on it when we ran out of chairs!

Moltenpink · 03/07/2021 19:24

Voted yabu as I saw one in a charity shop today in dark brown wood, thought “oh what a lovely bar stool” then saw on the label it was a highchair.

TeardropsFallingOnHotSand · 03/07/2021 19:24

Never heard of it and only clicked on the thread because I expected to see some lovely Von Trapp style carved wooden rocking chairs on the verandah amidst a sea of geraniums overlooking some meadows in the Swiss Alps all the while hearing the melodic metallic jingle jangles of cow bells as they graze the herby meadows and not a single punctuation mark in sight until this one .

bloodywhitecat · 03/07/2021 19:25

We got ours secondhand for £20, I love it because it takes up far less room than the highchair it replaces and it allows our little one to join in at the table which his highchair didn't. The highchair had to be used with the tray as we couldn't push him close enough to the table.

TeardropsFallingOnHotSand · 03/07/2021 19:26

Oh, Sound Of Music Trapp's by the way.

xyzandabc · 03/07/2021 19:27

DH has one of ours in his workshop and sits on it there. I have also used one as an adult as an extra chair in sy holiday home.

Got one for each of my children (now late teens and early 20's). Still have the chairs and I used one at my desk when briefly working from home. Actually really comfortable. They don't get much use (mostly because we have more chairs now) but were very well used until recently. I have no intention of getting rid of them and still consider them a really good buy (and they certainly weren't cheap even 20 odd years ago!)

HumbugWhale · 03/07/2021 19:29

We had cheap IKEA high chairs which were great and easy to clean. However our friend bought one of these and I her dcs still use it to sit to the table (oldest is 7). I have to admit I kind of wish we had bought them for our dts as they would be able to reach the table a lot better and we might have less dinner dropped on the floor!

ThatWasCrazy · 03/07/2021 19:29

Probably wouldn't sit on it as an adult BUT I do think they are great value for money as ours have been used by my eldest for 4 years and second for 2 years so far. Expect to use them 3x a day for years to come. Will be buying another for my 3rd baby once they get to about 1. Baby high chairs are fine for babies but for toddlers and children the Tripp Trapps have been excellent. And I like the way they look.

BarbarianMum · 03/07/2021 19:30

Mine sat on them til 13/11 respectively. There friends used to fight to sit on them . Very comfortable.

curiouscatgotkilled · 03/07/2021 19:30

We still use ours, youngest child is 5 but we all sit on it sometimes. I can't see us getting rid of it, I love it.

BarbarianMum · 03/07/2021 19:31

Their friends. And then I sold them for £60 each. Not bad after so many years of use.

worrybutterfly · 03/07/2021 19:32

We use ours a back up chairs when we have people over. They push under the end of the table nicely without looking messy or out of place.

Plus it's really useful to have 2 spare chairs that are suitable for anyone from 6months to 106years.
