....AIBU to think WTF?!

What is actually going to her? I feel so sad waking up to that news this morning. Is the judge on the payroll too or something? It’s just awful Sad

Any judges here that can shed any light on why she can’t be free to live her life?

@Whinge

I believe she’ll just want to live a quiet life for a while and enjoy being ‘free'

I get the same feeling. I think she just wants to be out of the limelight and live her life without the constant pressure of having to perform and make money for those around her. Unfortunately she's a meal ticket, and those who benefit aren't keen on this idea for obvious reasons. Sad

True. She was asked in an interview once what she wanted most in the world and she replied "To just drive my car, with my babies, roof down, no one else, just us and the open road"

Is that really so much for her to ask? Sad

I would bet my house there would be nothing quiet about the life she lives if she was 'set free.'

I noticed the judgement was “without prejudice” Someone with greater legal knowledge may be along, but I think that means she can bring the case back with further evidence/different argument and it will be heard afresh.
I also noted that Brittany did not present any medical evaluation & I believe she was encouraged to do this.
I think conservatorships are awful & wrong & she should be free to make her own mistakes. She was very unwell years ago when this first came about, she seems better now, though I think she may be bipolar or similar. Still doesn’t justify this

Yes, that's its meaning. But it's without prejudice in this case because although Britney made a statement, there had been no papers filed to bring a case against the conservatorship. So the judge couldn't consider what she said. But Judge Penny wanted Britney to know that she'd heard what she'd said and wasn't ignoring her. When the papers are filed, the matter will be heard in court. The law has to be followed correctly and evidence needs to be heard from all sides so the correct decision can be made.

Not having been in Court and heard the evidence to say nothing of the fact that I know sweet FA about the law in the US on this subject, I can't comment.

Oh well, now you know.

Hasn't the woman who was appointed as co-conservator with her father just resigned (it's on You Tube)? I really hope that could possibly mean renegotiating the things that are ludicrous with whoever takes over. ( The being watched when changing, therapy 3 times a week, her IUD being removed, not being able to to be the final word on dance routines, gong back to the meds that had been working fine, not Lithum which makes her feel doped ).

XenoBitch · 02/07/2021 01:44

I don't get it, tbh.
If you are so unwell/unstable that your life has to be so micromanaged, surely you are not well/stable enough to do stuff like the Vegas shows, be a judge on talent shows etc.
It makes no sense to me at all.

moonbedazzled · 02/07/2021 01:51

Isn't it the Bessemer Trust, which have only just been appointed to look after her financial affairs, that have have asked to withdraw from the conservatorship. They claim the public outcry on Britneys behalf has changed the terms of their agreement and they thought that Britney was voluntarily in the conservstorship, which seems not to be the case.

As I understand it Britney likes Jodi Montgomerie, who is charge of her person and has asked her to stay. There now seems to be a dispute between her and Jamie Spears, though, so maybe she won't stay.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 02/07/2021 08:00

For those saying we 'don't know all the facts', it is 'interesting' that Bessemer trust have just asked to be withdrawn from the conservatorship.

The last thing they want is any kind of light shone into this. I hope it will be investigated anyway.

Mumdiva99 · 02/07/2021 08:04

Isn't it just bad publicity for them? Quite likely to be further court cases. Further publicity, headlines and speculation. Better to get out now..... I imagine it's a purely financial decision and nothing to do with Britney herself. (She preferred them to her father hence the court case).

EmeraldShamrock · 02/07/2021 08:45

I feel so sad for her after hearing her testimony she must feel so helpless.
Obviously I don't know her personally, I'm a longterm fan, her music helped me through some dark times.
I love her. ❤

Being watched when changing could have been essential if she was on suicide watch.

Therapy or 'checking in' 3x a week might well have been necessary especially when taking such strong drugs, something like lithium often needs adjusting frequently to start with. Of COURSE people hate taking it but sometimes it's necessary and when they're at the point of needing it they quite often don't realise it.

Final word on dance routines- not even sure what that was about, she sounded annoyed she was questioned. Out of context it's hard to tell.

Contraception is very important when taking certain drugs,So is not having another baby when it could kick off spiralling MH problems and you are at great risk of having an episode after birth with BP if that's what she has.
