To feel quite pissed off about the lack of summer so far

Where I live it's due to rain again all next week. Not expecting it to be scorching but even a break from all the rain would be nice, with it being July tomorrow. It feels like the summer is going to pass us by without it ever really happening.

Yes it’s been roasting here in Manchester for weeks, bar the odd day. Our garden is all dried out and rock solid. 23c today.

I wouldn't call 23c 'roasting'. I agree with OP, here in Kent it's been pretty miserable, with the heating coming on sometimes in the evening - not what I'd expect in summer.

LightasaBreeze · 01/07/2021 06:01

Looks like it is going to be fairly sunny and 22c today for us in the Midlands and South East, better make the most of it, washing is in machineGrin

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/07/2021 06:08

Been pretty miserable in London. The last bit of good sunshine we saw was on holiday in Scotland at half term!

sandgrown · 01/07/2021 06:09

We have had only one day rain in about 3 weeks . It was very warm yesterday with a nice breeze . I am in the North West.

KatherineJaneway · 01/07/2021 06:09

I know just what you mean

sandgrown · 01/07/2021 06:10

Our local music festival was cancelled this year and it’s such a shame as the weather would have been fabulous.

Hallyup6 · 01/07/2021 06:17

I agree, we had one nice week and that's been it. A little bit of rain and not particularly cold but just dull constantly. I want some sunshine! I'm in Yorkshire.

Feel sorry for the Wimbledon players slipping and sliding...some really nasty falls. When they shut the roofs to get some play, the atmosphere seems to make the grass worse. It always depresses me a bit anyway when it rains during the tournament...stock joke that it always does but actually most years are OK.

spanielstail · 01/07/2021 06:40

I had genuinely forgotten it was summer here. I was coming back in with the dogs and passed my garden furniture and BBQ and honestly went "oh yeah' haven't done much of that. We had what 2/3 weeks of warm and that's it. I've been wearing a coat for a week Sad

Camomila · 01/07/2021 06:44

I've not minded it so much as its made it a much better 'hayfever season' for us than last spring/summer.
Also, my desk is right by the window and its nice to have the curtains open (usually I shut them to deal with the glare).

H1Drangea · 01/07/2021 06:53

We’re having nice weather , going for a walk in the evening as it’s been too hot earlier
In Wales , so there’s a big hill to climb after our favourite walk to the river and back
Been 22°c outside , so not boiling hot , but dry and we’ve had to water the garden

Yanbu. It's really getting me down. We've had a couple of warm days and that's it.

MattDillonsEyebrows · 01/07/2021 06:57

Sorry to be annoyingly perky but I can’t be upset about the weather this year. We rarely get two great summers back to back and I’m so grateful we had the amazing summer last year during lockdown.

Imagine full lockdown in this rain and I just feel better about it.

Macaroni46 · 01/07/2021 07:08

This is the outlook for my area. It's depressing!

Today's forecast for London! ?????

Well it’s fairly decent for the uk, and dry for a change. Manchester is 22 and sunshine and light cloud in the morning and unbroken sunshine this afternoon.
FreekStar2 · 01/07/2021 07:14

The forecast for next week looks ok to me- there might be an odd shower but it's warm everyday- around 20 degrees and sunny a lot of the time. What do people expect? It' rarely better than this in the UK.

Snoken · 01/07/2021 07:15

I'm in the north west of England and it's not bad at all here. I think next week might be, but so far it's been really quite dry and sunny.

FreekStar2 · 01/07/2021 07:20

Of course 22 degrees is warm!!!

Some people on this thread seem to live in an alternative universe- don't expect consistent temperature of 30 degrees in the UK- it's not normal, and is a rare occurrence- usually about 2 days a year.

MrsJBaptiste · 01/07/2021 07:24

I'm in Leeds and agree that the weather is really not great. Yes, we had a couple of hot weeks but after that? Just the odd nice evening or sunny afternoon and that is not summer. I want back to back sunshine and heat for a couple of months - last summer was just gorgeous... ☀️

LadyCatStark · 01/07/2021 07:25

We’re also enjoying the sunny weather in Lancashire, it’s got to be our turn sometime right!

GrandDuchessRomanov · 01/07/2021 07:26

Totally agree OP and folk wonder why lots of us want to head off to sunnier climes.

PrimeraVez · 01/07/2021 07:30

I'm in the Middle East where it is approaching 50 degrees some days. I blistered my foot taking the bins out without shoes on last weekend.

Would LOVE some rain and moody grey skies right now!

FreekStar2 · 01/07/2021 07:34

@MrsJBaptiste I'm near Leeds too and I think it's ok at the moment. Last year we had an unusually hot and dry spring, but June onwards wasn't particularly good. I remember being in my school with my bubble at that time and I went back to wearing a winter coat because it was so wet and cold.

Two months of hot dry weather in the UK without a break would be very unusual, that happens about once every 30 years!

Cowbells · 01/07/2021 07:35

It's been hot in the Lake District of all places. Came here with fleeces and waterproofs and it's 23 degrees up the mountains.
