To feel quite pissed off about the lack of summer so far

Where I live it's due to rain again all next week. Not expecting it to be scorching but even a break from all the rain would be nice, with it being July tomorrow. It feels like the summer is going to pass us by without it ever really happening.

It’s rubbish. I think it’s even worse as usually we would have a summer holiday somewhere sunny but of course we haven’t had one in ages. DD5 probably doesn’t even know what sandals are.

TableFlowerss · 30/06/2021 23:17

You’re right - I was hoping this weekend would be a good one but no… pushing down forecast as per… course it would be!

NoProblem123 · 30/06/2021 23:18

No such thing as the wrong weather, only the wrong clothes !

Which I’ve misjudged and got soaked twice in 24 hours but at least I was out enjoying life Smile

FFS man.

I'm in the Midlands and it's forecast rain for all next week!!!! Was mild today with no rain (hoorah!) But its the first year I'm finally getting my garden upto visitor standard but alas will have to wait for the sunshine!

WingingItSince1973 · 30/06/2021 23:23

Also have a bbq at a picnic spot planned for Saturday. First meet up with a group of good friends for absolutely ages but forecast rain. We still doing it though 🤣

CharlieChickenson · 30/06/2021 23:25

This week or so I've been I've been cycling through my seasons in outfits. It's been ridiculous weather. Cold and wet, warm and wet, cold and dry, warm and dry but with a covering if grey clouds that wanna sploosh but never does so you carry your Mac about like a twat.
Put the washing on the line and be forever poised to leap into action to save it.
Plan a garden get-together and forever be eating wet soggy sandwiches or burning up or maybe both and you get to strip off and put it all back on again 20 times a hour.
Sending kids to childcare with all the weather provisions.

Fuck I miss winter, it's cold, it's wet, fucking easy to dress and plan for Wink

Millionsofpeachez · 30/06/2021 23:27

@AnyFucker

Come to sunny Manchester. May was crap but since then it has been consistently good summer weather.
Yes it’s been roasting here in Manchester for weeks, bar the odd day. Our garden is all dried out and rock solid. 23c today. I’m allowed to gloat as this very rarely happens in the NW Grin
ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2021 23:28

Lovely in Lancashire too. Warm but not too warm. I had to water my flowerpots this evening.

OverByYer · 30/06/2021 23:29

Crap here in S Wales too. It’s so cold

Millionsofpeachez · 30/06/2021 23:29

Ah bollocks, spoke too soon, rain from Saturday. Ah well it was good while it lasted!

time4anothername · 30/06/2021 23:30

it's miserable but it is far more liveable than some parts of the world at the moment. Poor people dying in Canada of heat and California with drought and fire risk for instance.

FizzyPink · 30/06/2021 23:31

I agree. I’m self isolating until next week and a sunny weekend in the garden would make it so much better to make up for all the plans I’m missing out on.

And I’m sorry but I’m not one of those people who enjoy being outside in all weathers. In fact I have no interest in being outside in anything except warm sunshine.

ForgedInFire · 30/06/2021 23:32

In Essex it has been raining nearly every day for ages. If only it would have a break for Saturday for a nice Euro BBQ but it won't even give us that

Bythemillpond · 30/06/2021 23:34

I was working outside in South Herts yesterday.

It was so wet we gave up and went home. I was completely soaked

Katekarate · 30/06/2021 23:38

ForgedinFire I was thinking about getting stuff to put on the BBQ but decided against it. Some rain forecast is one thing, but every day for weeks on end at this time of year feels too much. Plus it means you can't make plans to meet up with friends outside

It goes without saying that the situation in Canada is awful/be careful what you wish for/first world problem etc.

Nonetheless it would help the background gloom to have a few sunny days to look forward to. Maybe that will happen soon as pp said, who knows. Don't recall having the heating on in June any other years though

It's been lovely here in the NW for a few weeks now. We've only had one rainy day so having to water the garden every night.

Alannawhorideslikeaman · 30/06/2021 23:51

@jiskoot

This country has such weird weather, it varies so much between counties. I'm from the South East originally where I hear it's been pretty rubbish recently. In the South West now where it's barely rained for a month, has been sunny and warm for a while now, 23 today. It won't last though, it rains a lot down here normally. Was just thinking this morning that we've had a lovely summer so far compared to previous years
You must be in a different south west from me, we've had non stop drizzle and grey overcast skies for the last month! Clay soil has gone back to being waterlogged after briefly drying out at the end of May for about a week. I've not even been able to now the lawn for the last fortnight.
Dobbyisahouseelf · 30/06/2021 23:53

@AiryFairy1 snap. One week of good weather in June and we were still faffing around getting the paddling pool up then deciding we needed a heater as the water was freezing.

Where's the decent weather we had last year?

LBOCS2 · 30/06/2021 23:55

I apologise.

We spent our summer holiday money on a massive terrace so we could better utilise our outdoor space. It was finished in late April. The weather is clearly our fault.

Caiti19 · 30/06/2021 23:56

We're melting in Northern Ireland. Everyday has been over 20 degrees for what seems like an eternity (probably about a week, who knows anymore). I put one of those thick mattress protector things from washing machine into sun yesterday. It was bone dry in 90 minutes. Even the cats are knackered.

heatwavemyarse · 30/06/2021 23:56

Haven't read the full thread but my username says it all. It SUCKS and I feel like the clouds are my mood.

Hard to keep entertaining a small child indoors where that's all I've been doing for forever Sad can't even enjoy the new garden!

BluebellCockleshell123 · 30/06/2021 23:58

Nae luck OP. It’s been utterly glorious on the west coast of Scotland this week & I was paddle boarding here today. Usually it’s the other way round though and we’re suffering the 15 degree rainy July weather while the SE basks in sunshine.

Come to Scotland. June has been glorious.
