Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

Johnson has now got someone much more to his (and his wife's) taste in post. It's well documented that he never sacks anyone. He finds other ways to remove them.

Not bothered whether you believe it or not, but glad your friends and family have had loads of resources chucked at them, I really am.

My DD worked too many long shifts in an ICU that was understaffed because many other trained staff were sick with Covid. She nursed a dying nurse with Covid. They had to train up inexperienced staff on the job. She dealt with screaming heartbroken relatives that couldn't be with dying loved ones arranging video links. That last sentence - that's the one...our Health Secretary was explaining those rules, the absolute requirement that this had to happen. People had to die alone without family. Because it was the rules. Rules he repeated. Rules then became adapted...but they were still there, and he broke them. He's a hypocrite. He swore that the ICU units had enough PPE - my DD's didn't - they were handwashing and bleaching PPE after a long shift to use again the next day. She wouldn't face time me after a shift because of the huge dents in her face from wearing all the PPE. Wearing it for more than twice her contracted hours. She was showering, hair, body, top to toe - countless times a day, before donning all the gowns on again to assist dying patients. It was grim, she did it, and she'll do it again.

But to look back at that time (April/May last year was the worse) knowing what we now know about Hancock...yeah, I totally understand why they're all relieved to see the back of him.

And you say that Critical Care had a blank cheque? How does that buy in qualified ICU staff when there are none available? How does that stop hospitals blue lighting Covid patients from other counties because their own hospitals are full?

Whatever Trust your many friends and family members work in - all I can say is I hope they realise how lucky they are.[/quote]
Please thank your DD for her efforts, I for one much appreciate them.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 20:52

I second that. Thank you to your DD and all her colleagues.

MercyBooth · 27/06/2021 20:54

Thirded. Flowers And to the NHS workers who have treated DM for her non Covid illness Flowers

'She wouldn't face time me after a shift because of the huge dents in her face from wearing all the PPE'

Well whoever did her fit test maybe needed retraining. No one should have had 'huge dents' in their faces. The 3m masks are lightweight. I'm sorry that she had you so worried saying they were washing and bleaching ppe.

'How does that buy in qualified ICU staff when there are none available? '

Theatres stopped doing all routine ops so all ODPs, theatre nurses, hcas were redeployed to ICU. Many have transferable skills and I would suggest if an experienced ICU nurse who usually is 1 to 1 in normal times can't manage 1 to 3 with a couple of theatre staff drawing up their drugs and assisting with monitoring etc then they possible need to work on their time management. Not ideal no, but then pandemics aren't.

sergeilavrov · 27/06/2021 21:00

Javid can’t stand Johnson after the Cummings debacle that had him resign as Chancellor. Not sure why people perceive him as a loyalist, it’s a fascinating appointment choice that will likely backfire on BoJo given Javid’s clear path to Number 10.

Blossomtoes · 27/06/2021 21:01

Don't you think it would have been normal to spare 30 seconds to sympathise with Trevor Philips? I thought it was chilling the way he turned it into everyone has suffered because not everyone has buried their child which is surely one of the most horrific things any parent could do.

It was one of the most callous things I’ve ever seen. The current lot of Tories make the 80s government look like bleeding heart liberals.

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about and your penultimate sentence is offensive.

Do we think Hancock might end up on this years Strictly or in the Jungle (or castle)?

Would anyone vote for him?

Well they did. My ITU nurse stepdaughter and her colleagues did too. And they were so short of PPE that they did 12 hour shifts with no break because they only had enough gowns for one per shift each.

I don’t suppose I know what I’m talking about either.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 27/06/2021 21:12

@SophieB100

My DD (the ICU nurse) was on shift yesterday when the news broke that MH had resigned. The staff around the nurses station all cheered and did high fives. When they told the lead consultant, he ordered in pizza for end of shift. That's how gutted the staff are - the very same that MH reckoned he stretched every bloody sinew for. Says it all.
Why? Which countries health service would you rather we emulate?

I’m in a school. It’s green a bit a bit shit having to do face to face plus online lessons. But it’s a pandemic and it’s totally my school not the government at fault for problems with delivery. Other places gave done it better.

And that has exactly what to do with ITU staff? Emulating other health systems hasn’t even been mentioned.

BiscoffAddict · 27/06/2021 21:18

@ilovesooty they voted for Ann Widdecombe and Ed Balls….

skodadoda · 27/06/2021 21:28

@GloomyWaters

His wife is now left to pick up the pieces with the kids...wonder if she'll make a statement and keep wearing her wedding rings

He and his OW now have no job and no homes...hope a freeze has been put on his bank account before he starts splashing the cash on a love nest

He still has his job as MP. It’s his ministerial job that he’s given up.

Yes, my nurse and carer friends have been left with terrible scars from badly fitting PPE. My 24 yr old cousin included. 12 hour shifts in a care home with patients who were released from Hospital with Covid. And my friend with Long Covid (pulmonary fibrosis) has awfully bad red marks from her CPap machine that she now wears to bed every night.

Well yes, but Anton's fans seemed for some reason to find Widdecombe amusing.

I voted for Ed Balls. I like him.

skodadoda · 27/06/2021 21:32

@AncientandFabulous

We were out with friends last night & discussed this. The consensus was at the Johnson has set Hancock up.

But his poor wife - what a nasty piece of work MH is. Such a betrayal from the person you are meant to trust the most. I hope she has good support around her.

There won’t be much trust between him and the new GF no matter how much ‘in lurve’ they are, they’re both cheats.
Douchebaggette · 27/06/2021 21:44

To add my tuppence worth of anecdotes - my best friend and my step mum are both nurses. One in palliative care and one has worked red covid wards during most of the worst months.

Neither have talked about resources being thrown at them. Both have frequently been in tears at the lack of resources and protection (process, adequate staffing and PPE) for them. And both are now receiving psychological support because they've mentally struggled to recover from what they have seen over the last year.

I don't know where these blank cheques were but they weren't in East Sussex or Lincolnshire.

But it’s all moan moan moan without context. It’s a bloody virus pandemic ..of course it will be tough on ITU staff. Farmers have a shit time in poor weather, Grenfell Towers was tough on the Fire Service, if you’re in the business of “ stuff gone wrong” then you’ll be busy when stuff goes wrong. No other country has skipped through it without a hitch.

The vaccine programme has been amazing. Loads of centres, well staffed.

To be fair the money was there but the resources weren't. Lack of planning and adaptive procurement meant PPE was lacking for months, and turns out when you treat staff like crap you can't magic more out of thin air. Throwing money alone doesn't solve any of the issues, let alone in a pandemic.
Blossomtoes · 27/06/2021 21:54

Your callousness rivals that of Brendan Lewis @Thewinterofdiscontent. It’s really distasteful and unpleasant.

DiamondBright · 27/06/2021 21:59

Anyone who thinks they're both jobless and homeless is very naive. Hancock has gone to his home in his constituency according to press reports, I'm sure his affair partner and her husband will have a second home somewhere or friends/family offering her use of one. These aren't ordinary people with limited resources.
