Matt Hancock affair (3)

Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

Not RTWT but I think Hancock wanted 'out' and is totally complicit in his own Set Up, as is his 'friend', DW and Bojo. Quickly resigned and Javid takes over....

All soon in the past as this week's News is reported and life goes on.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 18:39

But Janiie do you honestly honestly think that was the first snog? Back in May?
This is an established affair. You don't leave your wife and 3 children for a month after you snog someone in the office!!. I would put money on it carrying on before he appointed her in December last year. And this was a means to see each other more, tricky because of lockdowns. He will have been breaking restriction rules left right and centre.

Lemonwoe · 27/06/2021 18:40

@Octopuscake I can understand why in some situations people will be upset over this. For various reasons I found the last year horrendous but know that others have had it much worse.

But at the point MH broke the rules, the rules were fairly lax throughout the UK. And if he worked closely with Gina, they were likely to pass it to each other if either of them had it (tongues involved or not)

Roussette · 27/06/2021 18:42

So you think that footage in May was the first time they'd snogged?

And a month later he leaves his wife and 3 children for her?

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 27/06/2021 18:43

It most certainly was psychological torture, and we haven’t seen the full impact of its use yet.

Peregrina · 27/06/2021 18:48

the rules were fairly lax throughout the UK

Oh were they? For a start they are different in each of the four nations of the UK because health is a devolved matter. Still people can't have proper funerals or weddings, still people are having to quarantine. Things opened up a bit after 17th May but it's still a long long way from being normal.

MercyBooth · 27/06/2021 18:55

We have had the strictest lockdowns in Europe. Other countries were able to see families indoors.

Peregrina · 27/06/2021 18:57

Mind you France and the Netherlands both had curfews. I am not sure whether that worked better or not.

borntobequiet · 27/06/2021 19:01

But at the point MH broke the rules, the rules were fairly lax throughout the UK.

At this point it’s worth reminding people that despite some or even many people breaking rules or not following guidelines this was the Secretary of State for Health - responsible for writing the rules and guidelines - not some random numpty.

newnortherner111 · 27/06/2021 19:13

@Peregrina yes the rules in many areas were fairly lax. Compare them with the permits required in France, children not leaving the house in Spain for over a fortnight, or the use of the military for enforcement in Italy. The the lack of hotel quarantine unlike Australia.

Dominic Cummings broke them in most people's eyes, as did Robert Jenrick, and Boris Johnson made plenty of trips supposedly essential which were nothing more than PR visits for the benefit of the Conservative Party.

Piglet89 · 27/06/2021 19:24

@twilightermummy

There is clear contempt for the public from this government and they sicken me quite frankly.

Agreed - well said. Apparently Johnson condemns the rightly seething electorate who all wanted Hancock to go as “the mob”.

Fuck you, BoJo: you don’t need a Classics degree from Oxford to recognise a grade A piece of morally bankrupt hypocrisy when you see it.

Dustyboots · 27/06/2021 19:24

@JaniieJones - I felt ‘psychologically tortured’ over Christmas. It followed on from so much that came before it. The Cummings episode, sudden changes of rules over quarantine in the summer etc but that phrase sums up what Christmas did to me.

Since then I’ve paid not one ounce of attention to our government or the rules that they refuse to follow.

This Hancock thing is the final nail in the coffin. I’ll believe nothing they say again, never be made to feel guilty for opting out of their rules ... our government is laughing at us.

Dustyboots · 27/06/2021 19:26

Fuck you, BoJo: you don’t need a Classics degree from Oxford to recognise a grade A piece of morally bankrupt hypocrisy when you see it.

This is worth repeating.

Andante57 · 27/06/2021 19:29

@DysonSphere

That was a cheap shot by Diane Abbott imo.
I agree.
SueSaid · 27/06/2021 19:31

'I’ll believe nothing they say again, never be made to feel guilty for opting out of their rules'

Hmm..we heard a lot of this after Cummings trip. People so happy to have the excuse to flout.

They've made mistakes, MH has resigned. That does not change the glaringly obvious fact that in a pandemic restrictions were needed. So rather than think 'well if he broke rules I will too next time!', think yes he shouldn't have done that but he has now has resigned. Hopefully we won't be in the same position in winter but I wouldn't count your chickens tbh.

ilovesooty · 27/06/2021 19:38

@Gladimnotcampinginthisweather

I am glad people have mentioned the Trevor Philips/Brandon Lewis interview. I was almost in tears as Trevor Philips told his story and yet Brandon Lewis brushed it off with a 'we've all suffered' comment. Ghastly man.
Agreed. That's real suffering. A lot more psychologically damaging than not being able to see family on Christmas day.
Piglet89 · 27/06/2021 19:51

He would probably welcome being pushed out of office to spend more time with his child.

He would probably welcome being pushed out of office because he’s more out of his depth than old Kate Winslet was at the end of Titanic.

I very much doubt he would like to spend more time with his most recent child, judging from his pretty, shall we say “hands off” approach to the rest of his kids.

ancientgran · 27/06/2021 19:54

@JaniieJones

'When will you stop making excuses for this shower of shits? They didn't seem to fussed about controlling the spread themselves.'

I'm not 'making excuses'. I am acknowledging he broke the SD rules (although on May 6th they were pretty lax tbh), and he resigned. That doesn't mean all the restrictions shouldn't ever have been in place though. There seems a mindset on mn that he broke social distancing guidelines so therefore everyone should or that they should never have been in place. I don't get it.

Fwiw I thought BL in the interview was respectful acknowledging many people had endured tragedy and it has not been easy but restrictions have been necessary.

Don't you think it would have been normal to spare 30 seconds to sympathise with Trevor Philips? I thought it was chilling the way he turned it into everyone has suffered because not everyone has buried their child which is surely one of the most horrific things any parent could do.
DiamondBright · 27/06/2021 19:57

As a northerner I never ceases to be amazed that people in London live in houses worth millions and they don't even have a drive so they can pack their car and leave their husband with some privacy.

Abraxan · 27/06/2021 19:57
@Scaredycatmoo76 I don't know because the family have enough on without me asking questions, but uncle (her husband) is a hospital consultant himself so she is getting good care.

Covid-19 does cause higher risk of strokes due to blood clots
www.hriuk.org/health/your-health/lifestyle/people-with-coronavirus-are-at-risk-of-blood-clots-and-strokes
It was one of the things they scanned me for when I was taken to hospital, when I had covid.

My blood pressure had rocketed and wouldn't come down. I was rushed there due to a serious risk of heart attack or stroke and they needed to rule out blood clots.

Blood clots are a known complication of covid.

MercyBooth · 27/06/2021 20:00

@ilovesooty i agree. I shared the link from youtube.

Somehow i suspect you wouldnt say to an emotionally abused woman that its not as bad as being physically abused though.

Or perhaps you would Perhaps you ARE that kind of person. I also put in my post that my DM has deteriorated physically since Christmas. I guess we have to be choosing her coffin before it counts though eh! As someone who works in disaster and recovery management confirms my thoughts and actually called it psychological torture i think i will listen to someone with actual experience in the field thanks.

Peregrina · 27/06/2021 20:01

Dominic Cummings broke them in most people's eyes, as did Robert Jenrick, and Boris Johnson made plenty of trips supposedly essential which were nothing more than PR visits for the benefit of the Conservative Party.

Agree, so the people responsible for public health, i.e. the Government were cavalier. But locally, ordinary people that I saw were very respectful of the rules. So we weren't lax.

malificent7 · 27/06/2021 20:02

Wasn't Gina in his " bubble?" / working in the same place?

Odisia · 27/06/2021 20:03

This is not over. Johnson is next. Just watch. It's a chess game and Johnson's (carrie's) move will be passed by their opponent.

This is Cummings in action. Revenge.

It might be amusing but for the fact we are politically exposed to our enemies. We should be asking serious questions about the cameras and how this was leaked rather than worrying about Hancock having a snog. Who is Cummings' master?

MercyBooth · 27/06/2021 20:03

Ive been really shocked at the belittling of abuse ive seen I expect it from people on the right but from people who claim to be on the left
