Met up with a friend last night and she bought along her 6 year old granddaughter. My grandkids were also there so we went to the park. One of them asked my GD 'Why does your nan have such a long nose?' It wasn't meant for my ears but it really upset me.
I am physically very unattractive but aibu for me to get down about it from time to time especially when comments get made. I know she is only a child but throughout my life I have had comments on my nose, flat chest, needing a makeover etc. I shouldn't care at my age. But it hurts.

@MiaMarshmallows
You are entitled to have feelings and sometimes get upset about something even if you know it wasn't ill meant. It's just triggering everything that's happened to you before.
I suggest getting on body positive hashtag on Instagram, there are lots of people sharing their stories with their bodies, health and it puts you into perspective.
I'm sure your GD thinks you're gorgeous, and the most important thing is to be beautiful inside, if you are a bad person it doesn't matter how gorgeous, people will run away.
Next time when you have those thoughts, think about your kids or grandkids thinking that of themselves and what you'd say and say it to yourself.
Don't speak to yourself in a way you wouldn't speak to a loved one or a friend, easier said than done, but we just need to keep practicing.
Sending you love and hugs.
BTW my DH has a really big nose and I love it.

@MiaMarshmallows
Attached is a page from a Greek myth (of Narcissus who died of love for himself).
The lake he looked in was said to weep after his death.
When asked why, the lake thought about it, then said it wept not because narcissus was beautiful - it never even noticed that - but because the lake could see its own beauty reflected in narcissus’ eyes.
A bit schmaltzy maybe but it’s true that what makes others love us is how we make them see themselves. If we reflect them as beautiful they will love us. Everyone is ultimately looking at themselves more than they look at anyone else.

Kids are so weird. I was walking in the park and a child ran in front of me, their mum said to move out of 'this lady's' way. And the child absolutely insisted that I was a man, much to their mums embarrassment.

I am really quite feminine, long blonde hair, and was 9 months pregnant 😂

I have a big nose, I used to get called Margaret Thatcher when I was a kid so I think you can all imagine that wasn't a lot of fun for a 9 year old girl, but now I love my bigger nose. It does seem regal. In ancient Rome big noses were sought after, and people with button noses would wish them to grow. Beauty standards change all the time. It doesn't measure your worth as a person.

Even trees of the same species look different to each other, their branches grow in unique places, they might bend a little to the side or have large roots or not grow as tall. They are all beautiful and individual. How boring if every tree in the forest was a carbon copy of the others!
