Is anyone still wearing masks at school gate?

Just asking as ours as eased off a bit now? Is it compulsory?

OP posts:
Ivymundane · 26/06/2021 16:58

They ask but most don’t wear the masks. I imagine in winter people will though as it’s not as warm.

No one is allowed in the school building without a mask though. If you are exempt from wearing masks your still not allowed in.

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 26/06/2021 17:20

Still required at the school my children go to. The only few times I’ve seen any parents not wearing one it’s because they’ve forgotten.

Laiste · 26/06/2021 17:52

Midlands village school. Head teacher opens the gate to let us in and we have to have a mask on.

We all stand in the queue right round the bloody block (residents having to squeeze past us all Hmm) without masks and bung them on as we walk past the HT.

georgarina · 26/06/2021 17:58

Still mandatory here, we've had complaints and reminders

everybodysang · 26/06/2021 18:07

@AledsiPad

Required now, but refusing as I’m double jabbed and not an idiot sheep. Not required for the other school on the same site so obviously COVID knows which way to blow Hmm
Wow. Idiot sheep AND wake up on the same day. Aren't you the edgy little rebel?
Blondeshavemorefun · 26/06/2021 20:26

Yes ours still does

Signs saying

Emails reminding

Many don’t now and they used to

I get it

We are outside , like walking through town and don’t wear them

But school has asked us to /haven’t stopped since think sept when asked , so I do it

Mummyof2andapig · 26/06/2021 20:30

I do if I’m near people in the playground but otherwise, no. Luckily the playground is massive so I can generally avoid it

salemcat · 26/06/2021 20:32

We had to wear one in the playground where we pick up. Finished for the summer now, hoping it will not be in place when we get back 🤞

mistershoe · 26/06/2021 20:36

Our nursery are still asking parents to wear one (outdoors at pickup), but only about 50% of parents still are. A few months ago it was more like 90%. Personally I am still wearing one - for me the point of wearing one has always been to present the right impression to staff so I will play along by their rules until they change them.

idontlikealdi · 26/06/2021 20:37

Moor optional for our school.

Skysblue · 26/06/2021 20:48

Everyone is still wearing masks here, it’s required by the school (and basic manners / common sense).

superduster · 26/06/2021 21:13

Presumably those people not wearing them don't have cases at their schools? We had 3 classes sent home in the last week.

Thegreymethod · 26/06/2021 21:28

We're still being asked too, some do, some don't but I've heard bitchy comments going round about the ones who don't, we're not allowed on the playground at all though so think people don't really see why they have too. School aren't really enforcing it either.

Confiscatedfidgetspinner · 27/06/2021 07:39

So the real reason that most are probably doing it is to avoid being the subject of bitchy comments by morons. It really does worry how thick some people are and how they are using this whole virus as some way of feeling superior to those around them by ‘following the rulezzzz’.

Remember last year when people were being absolutely trashed for allowing their children to play on a park? Fine though now. For buying ‘non-essential’ items in B&M people were calling people out at the tills? For daring to go for a walk for longer than an hour? I remember Facebook videos of people filming others outraged they had dared go for a run etc trying to go viral.

This mask crap ‘just because’ is the new one. You are outside ffs, we seriously need to get a grip.

sanityisamyth · 27/06/2021 07:45

Still compulsory in Cardiff.

That's how it is here.

And it's perfectly fine. 🙄

Youdiditanyway · 27/06/2021 07:59

Still compulsory here in Yorkshire but barely anyone bothers anymore. I’d say when they first brought the rule in about 90% complied, now it’s down to 20%. I’ve noticed it dwindle to almost nobody over the past week and also noticed people complaining about not being able to attend sports day so I think it’s deliberate rebellion.

Juanbablo · 27/06/2021 08:04

Yes, we are required to unless exempt. I forgot once.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 27/06/2021 08:06

Well said @Confiscatedfidgetspinner

Thebig3 · 27/06/2021 09:55

@Confiscatedfidgetspinner well said, totally agree with this!!!

Birkie248 · 27/06/2021 10:15

I feel like mask wearing now is mainly to appease others, particularly outside. Coupled with the total hypocrisy from the G7, football, Ascot etc I can’t see why we should continue,

MinnieMountain · 27/06/2021 11:34

Our reception classes got sent home. It didn’t seem to make a difference with decrease in parents wearing masks.

what a stupid comment Confiscatedfidgetspinner

Things change, advice is updated, so you .. adapt?
When in the middle of a lockdown, it is reasonable to judge people breaking all the rules. You might think you are superior and laugh, but people unable to work, to run their business, send kids to school and just have a life, all had very good reasons not to find it amusing when morons thought they knew better and broke the rules.
So did the medical staff working on covid wards.

When kids are still sent home, events and holidays cancelled, seeing selfish parents who think they know better and don't have to care about anything because their little life is not affected is infuriating.

You are the one who needs to get a grip.

OlympicProcrastinator · 27/06/2021 16:05

Our school said it was no longer necessary to wear them outside on school grounds a few weeks ago thankfully.

NobbyButtons · 27/06/2021 16:19

We still have to wear masks when picking up children even though we are outside and can social distance (I don't go into school to drop them off, but leave them at the entrance to the school drive). Before Christmas there was no requirement to wear them.
