Just asking as ours as eased off a bit now? Is it compulsory?

In Bristol we're still asked to but a lot of people have stopped, we're not even allowed into the school still have to line up socially distanced outside and every class has a different start and finish time so it seems ridiculous to me seeing as the children are all mixing anyway. Still wear it though

RaindropsOnRosie · 25/06/2021 19:05

It's never been enforced sadly but those of us who have been wearing them at the gate still do. Half of the parents here wrongly wear the sunflower lanyard so I wouldn't know if anything had changed anyway!

hennybeans · 25/06/2021 19:10

It is requested still at ours. Although we aren't allowed on school property yet so it's not really enforceable. Pretty much everyone wears a mask once they are right near the school gate, then takes it off again as soon as they are walking away.

It's really just for show though as we are outside, times are staggered and two different school gates used so I never come within two meters of anyone anyhow. I can't wait to stop wearing them in situations like that where it serves no real purpose.

Dc's school is still requesting we do. I don't mind but it does seem pointless. Parents literally put them on at the school gate and whilst dropping kids off then take them off immediately after leaving the school grounds then groups of people huddle together just outside the school grounds. The masks are pointless imo!!

DS is the last bubble out in the afternoon. I get Dd and walk over the other side to get DS. His class are the last bubble out and they mostly walk home alone at his age. So I'm often stood on a massive football pitched sized playground on my own with no one around with a mask on! Too scared to take it off as the head is probably watching from afar 👀 Like I say I don't begrudge it but I really think it's pointless!

pollylocketpickedapocket · 25/06/2021 19:20

Never had at our primary. One woman does but she’s a bit daft generally.

Rizzoli123 · 25/06/2021 19:40

Yes at our school in Solihull.

We have to leave kids at gate

ButteringMyArse · 25/06/2021 19:47

I never did. School tried saying in various emails that it was compulsory, but it isn't. We collect from the gate, not the grounds. They don't own the public path, and they were taking the piss trying to require it. Happy to wear one if we ever get back on the actual premises.

Whammyyammy · 25/06/2021 19:53

I've never once wore a mask outside. And since the G7 summit and football, I'm starting to wonder why I bothered even wearing one

scrivette · 25/06/2021 19:56

Our school are requesting we do and I am happy to wear one, however it's noticeable in the last couple of weeks that people are stopping wearing them.

LaLaLouella · 25/06/2021 19:57

Primary school - yes, everyone wears a mask in the playground as we wait for the children. School have asked us to do it and everyone complies (as we want our kids to stay in school as much as possible...)

GingerandTilly · 25/06/2021 19:58

Yes I am on the days I collect and kid’s school have texted all the parents this week reminding them to do so.

Floobydo · 25/06/2021 20:27

Yes we do in the playground. I do think it’s probably pointless but the school do a great job in so many ways and have been especially amazing over the past year & a bit so I wear one because they’ve asked us to & I want to support them. It doesn’t cause me any issues to pop it on for a few minutes a day.

kindaclassy · 25/06/2021 20:31

I've never once wore a mask outside.

we know, there's always one who think they are above everyone else Hmm

canary1 · 25/06/2021 20:37

Required at our primary school. It’s ridiculous 🙄

Strawberriesandcream21 · 25/06/2021 20:38

I do, not many other parents do now. I figure I dont know if any of the teachers are feeling anxious and they're all working so hard and making sure kids wash hands etc in school so me wearing a mask isnt a big ask. It really bugs me that others dont. Its rife in our area (Northumberland) right now and feel like our school has done so well, only 2 (I think) children have been off isolating so we just need to keep it going until the hols

Alleycat02 · 25/06/2021 20:48

Urrgggghhh yes unfortunately, compliance is very high and they are still requiring masks on the playground for pickup. I only see one mum regularly not wearing one. It sucks as I've not really been able to get to know any of my year R child's classmates' parents due to the communication barrier inherent in mask wearing.

coffeecup88 · 25/06/2021 20:49

Yes we do

ejhhhhh · 25/06/2021 20:56

Yes, we do, at my kids primary. It's annoying when I forget one as I feel like a naughty child, I'll be happy when we're rid of them. It also feels slightly ridiculous that I can spend 6 hours of my day inside with hundreds of teenagers, who aren't masked at all, yet I'm still expected to wear a mask for 15 minutes a day outside. I just do not understand the logic to some of the rules.

JagerPlease · 25/06/2021 20:57

We do, and get reminder emails because people aren't complying. Sanitiser for all children on entry too.

There's been one case all year at the school. Nobody can know for sure whether it's helped, but I'd rather just stick a mask on for a few minutes if there's a chance it helps stop any spread. Not really a hardship if you aren't exempt?

muddyboots · 25/06/2021 20:57

We're supposed to but I've stopped now. Utterly pointless outside when I'm standing 2 metres away from other people anyway.

I always have one with me and use it if I have to speak to a teacher.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 25/06/2021 20:59

Yes, still compulsory here.

DrJPuddleDuck · 25/06/2021 21:00

Still compulsory at ours - it’s ridiculous!

SuperMonkeys · 25/06/2021 21:01

We do, still compulsory. Not allowed on site so at the gate.

PeterPomegranate · 25/06/2021 21:02

Yes. I do on school grounds and if I pop into reception to say I’m there to collect from after school.

BlaBlaSmthSmth · 25/06/2021 21:03

Only one parent from my child's class wears a mask for pick up/drop off (she gets the bus there so must need a mask for the journey anyway).
We still have staggered drop off/pick up times and aren't allowed on school grounds though (and no sports day/ summer fete).
