Just asking as ours as eased off a bit now? Is it compulsory?

We're supposed to be but I've stopped due to the hypocrisy

randomsabreuse · 25/06/2021 13:50

Was until the end of term (yesterday), Scotland...

SquirrelCrimbleCrumble · 25/06/2021 13:53

I never wear one on the school drop off (I don't do pick up normally)

I've had both jabs (work for NHS) and honestly hate wearing a mask!

So while school highly recommend wearing masks, they aren't able to enforce it

I'd say only about 25-30% of the parents I see in a morning, are wearing a mask...

Angel2702 · 25/06/2021 13:54

We have never had to wear masks but aren’t Allowed into school playground at all.

Chipsahoy · 25/06/2021 13:54

Nope, not in Leicestershire. This was stopped a few weeks back. We’ve not had a single bubble off since we’ve been back after the last lockdown though.

Flambola · 25/06/2021 13:59

Yes, compulsory. Most parents do.

OkOkWhatsNext · 25/06/2021 14:03

No we stopped after half term. We stay distant in the playground as requested, so I always thought masks outside was pointless anyway and glad we aren’t expected to any more. Surprised at the 10% or so who do still wear them tbh, actually I suspect they might be the proportion of parents who don’t actually read the school newsletter (and then ask inane questions on the class WhatsApp about when parents evening/inset day/mufti day is)…🤨

SpaceRaiders · 25/06/2021 14:08

Yes we still are. We are also still doing staggered drop offs and for sports day parents are segregated by bubbles.

I must admit, I can’t wait to get rid of masks, I’m awful at remembering people’s faces as it is, masks just add another layer of difficulty!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 25/06/2021 14:09

actually I suspect they might be the proportion of parents who don’t actually read the school newsletter

Or maybe they feel it’s the right thing to so, want to keep safe etc.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/06/2021 14:10

I'm not. Not many parents still are.

ineedaholidaynow · 25/06/2021 14:16

Haven't there been some examples where the Delta variant has been transmitted outside

ChocolateCakeYum · 25/06/2021 14:18

I do. I’m one of the very few who does though. It makes me angry that I still see so few wearing face masks here as we still have (and always have had) one of the highest infection rates in the country.

BoringBettie · 25/06/2021 14:27

They are compulsory at dd’s school

Gorkastalker · 25/06/2021 14:37

Everyone does at our primary school.

Scoobygang7 · 25/06/2021 14:39

Me and my dp do. However none of the other parents are anymore.

Abraxan · 25/06/2021 14:40

My schools asks parents to do and compliance is incredibly high. It is rare to see anyone without.

We are an infant school where parents do speak to staff at times, and an old Victorian school with a smallish playground which gets over crowded.

The advice for our schools comes direct from the LEA, and is based on DfE information and guidance.

rooarsome · 25/06/2021 14:41

Compulsory here. We have to wait in the car park in a line, but are only allowed past the gates into said car park if we have a mask.

Wtfdoipick · 25/06/2021 14:42

Never been asked to at our primary however they have managed to reorganise things so every class enters and leaves from a different entrance and this naturally allows for a lot of social distancing

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 25/06/2021 14:43

Compulsory at our junior school, and everyone follows it though it seems pointless to me.

Youdoyoutoday · 25/06/2021 14:43

Yes, we are reminded on a weekly basis in the school news letter

wendz86 · 25/06/2021 14:47

Most parents are still at our school, we go in to playground and wait outside classrooms. Doesn't bother me.

steakandcheeseplease · 25/06/2021 14:50

Yes. We are not allowed on the school grounds with out one and we were told very firmly all parents were expected to wear one even walking near the school gates. We have designated areas we have to stand, then we see our child and collect them one by one then exit using the designated route which is marked out by yellow.

Children still use anti bac on entry in to school.

To be fair our school have been shit hot at keeping it open. In the whole of the pandemic we have had one class bubble close and that was because a teacher had tested positive. We have done amazingly well considering we were in a hotspot.

TankGirl97 · 25/06/2021 14:51

Ours is compulsory. Never ever see a parent without one!

Lipsandlashes · 25/06/2021 14:52

Ours is compulsory and absolutely ridiculous, in my opinion. We are always outside and socially distanced. On the pavement, waiting for the school gates to open, is a different story - no masks and no social distancing between parents

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 25/06/2021 14:54

Ours is supposed to be mandatory but currently stood waiting and I'm the only person out of 10 wearing one so.....
