Just asking as ours as eased off a bit now? Is it compulsory?

Yes, still requested at our school although I don't think they can make it compulsory. Everyone does though. Secondary school are reintroducing them in corridors.

Confiscatedfidgetspinner · 26/06/2021 08:15

Refused to do this from the start- to me it’s an empty gesture and utterly pointless. Parents don’t go into the playground, I don’t hang about in groups talking for 20 minutes blocking the pavement either (far worse in my opinion)- I spot my child, wave, they come out and we go whilst on the road outside. I’m not wearing a mask just to appease other people.

Lau52 · 26/06/2021 08:22

My primary does and everyone does. We did have a lot cases prior to them being introduced. My dd secondary spiked in cases after they stopped wearing them in May. Ended up being in surge testing area. So masks were reintroduced. All school kids given PCR and no positive cases confirmed. There easing mask wearing again Monday apart from corridors so time will tell on the effect of that.

Demelza82 · 26/06/2021 08:57

Yes and proud to still wear it, because I'm not thick or a twat

Looubylou · 26/06/2021 09:01

Yes we have to, everyone does, we aren't allowed in grounds either.

Theworldisquiethere · 26/06/2021 09:04

We’re supposed to but only a handful of people do now. I don’t when I’m just waiting but put one on if I have to go over and talk to the teacher. We’re not even allowed through the school gate though and have to pick them up from the road outside.

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 26/06/2021 09:06

Yes in our primary in Scotland. Compulsory in school grounds..hanging around gates not encouraged. Let's see what August brings.

Sceptre86 · 26/06/2021 09:07

Yes we still have to.

helpmewiththisnew · 26/06/2021 09:13

Masks outside is truly pointless. It's oppositional at our school, I'd say 50-50

tracker222 · 26/06/2021 09:16

No, our primary school stopped it about 3 weeks ago (thank goodness!)

phoenixrosehere · 26/06/2021 09:25

Yes. Too many parents can’t SD and still think they should be standing around in groups in front of the school with masks as chin protectors or if at all making it difficult to get through.

Have two cases of Covid this week (siblings) at my son’s school with majority of both Yr 2 and Yr 5 at home isolating.

Allthegranola · 26/06/2021 09:36

Yes, compulsory at ours

Lemonwoe · 26/06/2021 10:51

At DSs school, almost everyone is. Makes it difficult for you to work out who everyone is though

Bedsheets4knickers · 26/06/2021 11:43

Nope . I stopped a few weeks ago . The social distancing measures they set up is actually causing more congestion then it did pre covid times . After school clubs are all mixed bubbles 🤷🏻‍♀️. Yesterday was the nail in the coffin for me with that twat Hancock.

Thebig3 · 26/06/2021 12:35

Please explain your reasoning behind why someone is thick or a twat for not wearing a mask outside 🤔

Absolutely ridiculous!!!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 26/06/2021 12:55

I really don't see it as a hardship. I put on a mask for 10 mins in the morning and afternoon, stand in the playground, have a bit of a natter with the other parents waiting and then go home.

I can't understand why anyone would refuse to do something so simple. In our case it's not even the schools decision, the directive has come from the council and the school are just communicating and enforcing it.

It is not impossible to catch the virus outdoors

FunnyWonder · 26/06/2021 14:23

We have never been asked/required to. Some do, including DP, but I don't. I just keep my distance if passing the time of day with someone and stay away from groups of people, which involves a very circuitous route through the housing estate at the back of the school (which I strangely enjoy!) It's a small school though, with staggered finish times to allow for social distancing.

Who told you that 🤣?
AledsiPad · 26/06/2021 15:38

Required now, but refusing as I’m double jabbed and not an idiot sheep. Not required for the other school on the same site so obviously COVID knows which way to blow Hmm

kindaclassy · 26/06/2021 15:41

Required now, but refusing as I’m double jabbed and not an idiot sheep.

so much more likely to be symptom free if you do catch covid, so more a risk for others.

So yeah, makes sense to refuse to wear a mask that protects THEM Hmm

tttigress · 26/06/2021 15:42

How can the school enforce what py do outside? I find it bizarre that people have followed the rules so rigidly while the ones writing them don't bother to obey.

Aberteifi · 26/06/2021 16:32

Yes it's compulsory at my children's primary school.

ineedaholidaynow · 26/06/2021 16:39

@tttigress maybe because we have more integrity and care for other people.

Majorfluff · 26/06/2021 16:48

I have hardly worn a mask anywhere. Just say I am exempt if anyone challenges me Hate wearing the damn things.
