I grew up in communist Hungary and we had to sing the State Anthem of the Soviet Union and the Internationale (both in Hungarian, but we knew the first one in Russian too) at every single school event and big assembly. I don't remember particularly caring for the words, only where we had to take the next big breath, especially because I was in the choir, performing them
on stage!🤣
But because both are really beautiful pieces of music I love them - same with Marseilles, the German National Anthem and some others.

We have enough diversity already so although the song is not that great the concept is to put the great back into Great Britain! Could do and deserve better though!

Nationalism (and worse) does not have to be born in white middle class areas.

It may have been started with good intentions. But this is not a nation that welcomes all, this is a country that has asylum seekers drowning to reach us. It is a nation that literally went back on its promise that EU citizens living here would keep their rights automatically. It is a nation that promises a hostile environment. It is a divided nation. Children can sing well intentioned loving songs, but they are lead by a government with no heart and no soul who are embracing this day with full on hypocrisy.
