To hope someone can help me to remember this early 90s cartoon?

I first tried to remember this animated series about 20 years ago, and I think of it every few years but get nowhere. Googling never throws up the right programme, and you're about to realise why: I recall almost nothing about it Grin

Here's what I recall:

CITV
Very early 90s, maybe late 80s but I'm fairly sure it's 90 something.
Theme tune reminded me of Ordinary World by Duran Duran
Animated
Set on an island/group of islands
Opening credits are an aerial view of the island (s)

It is not Charlie Chalk or Cockleshell Bay. It probably wasn't very long-lived.

I'm not holding out much hope, and appreciate that's not much to go on. Please help me to lay this to rest!

Total drama island?

MargaretFraggle · 22/06/2021 20:39

Blue Me too Smile "Jem is my name!" (Jem!)

Also had a Jem doll Constance. Didn't she (amazingly) have earrings?

Yes! And the best guitar! Still remember my grandad buying her for me after I begged (harassed) him for it.

@MargaretFraggle

Ah, brilliant, no one ever remembers the song!
Yes one of the Holograms had earrings and I think it was Connie/Constance

Round the twist was awesome. There are some very dodgy videos on you tube though. Looking back, the episode about the windmill willy was a bit inappropriate!

Battle.for dream.island was good on you tube tho.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 22/06/2021 20:50

Just for anyone who watched round the twist can I just say

WITHOUT MY PANTS

AnoymousCoward · 22/06/2021 20:52

Round the Twist is on Prime now. It's not an animation though.
Fraggle Rock was also set in a lighthouse (British version, not the US version) but that was puppets not cartoon.

I’m putting forward the bobobobs even though it was set in space because no one ever remembers it (plus I think it was on channel 4).

Did they teleport when things got difficult, especially if on a bus? They landed in the sea

David the Gnome?

Oh my god I used to love Jem!!!

Me and my friends are Jem girls, Jem, Jem is my name..... Exciting adventures, fashion and fame once you're a Jem girl you're never the same, come on, come on and be a Jem girl, Jem, Jem is my name!!

Also.... OP I feel your pain.... It took me about a decade to find out that my "rip of the brain" cartoon was The Bluffers!!

MintCassis · 22/06/2021 21:15

Robinson Sucroe? Not sure the theme is like Ordinary World though 🤔

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 22/06/2021 21:34

Sure it's not but fraggle rock?

A happy coincidence!😆
This thread has been great, a real mood booster

@NoMoreHGTVPlease Oh my god, someone who’s heard of BFDI on YouTube!!! I love it, my son watches it obsessively and I got into it too! We even have a real Clocky clock!

I do a cracking impression of Four, X, Icecube and David
Peter Pan and the Pirates?
This certainly ticks a lot of boxes but I'm not sure I've ever seen it. Was it on UK TV?

CHIShandler · 22/06/2021 21:54

@Ichoochoochoosethis

How about Teddy Ruxpin? The TV show was marginally less terrifying than the creepy doll...
I owned the creepy doll and my sister had Cricket, which was similar Grin

@Iamstuckhere - my DC's dad got them the Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD recently and every time the theme tune comes on I can't help singing! They've started singing to it too.
