To hope someone can help me to remember this early 90s cartoon?

I first tried to remember this animated series about 20 years ago, and I think of it every few years but get nowhere. Googling never throws up the right programme, and you're about to realise why: I recall almost nothing about it Grin

Here's what I recall:

CITV
Very early 90s, maybe late 80s but I'm fairly sure it's 90 something.
Theme tune reminded me of Ordinary World by Duran Duran
Animated
Set on an island/group of islands
Opening credits are an aerial view of the island (s)

It is not Charlie Chalk or Cockleshell Bay. It probably wasn't very long-lived.

I'm not holding out much hope, and appreciate that's not much to go on. Please help me to lay this to rest!

I know you said animated but one of my favourite tv shows in the early90s was The Adventures on Kythera ,the opening was of a island/islands I’m racking my Brain to think of a cartoon like that 🤔

@CHIShandler

It's very possible I have conflated two programmes. T-Bag has an epic theme tune and was on CITV...
T-Bag was the best. But it wasn't an animation. Lots of different themes through the different series
purplebunny2012 · 23/06/2021 21:09

@PineappleWilson

I don't think anyone's suggested Dungeons and Dragons which was kids trying to get on a theme park ride home but never making it (spoiler!). I can't remember the theme though.

@Pollmere do you mean Chocky and Chocky's Challenge? (Chokky sp.?)

It's like an instrumental, stirring theme. I'm pretty sure I have those on DVD, too!

Count duckula?

I did think of that but don’t remember an island. The opening credits were brilliant and I loved little Uni the unicorn.

So I just mindlessly sung gummy bears and my husband seems concerned😂😂

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 23/06/2021 22:58

There's a dogtanian film on at cinemas just now. It is not going to win any oscars but if you stay until the end they have a singalong theme tune with subtitles.

whynotwhatknot · 23/06/2021 23:05

Lilo & Stitch

Fatredwitch · 24/06/2021 00:59

Can't help with the original question, unfortunately, but I remember nearly all the programmes mentioned. My kids were born in 1978 and 1986, so cartoons from the 80s and 90s are stuck in my memory.

There was He-man and his enemy Skeletor, of course. (Not forgetting Cringer who transformed into the mighty Battlecat.) However, I think that the Thundercats' enemy Mumm ra, a rather sturdy-looking Egyptian mummy, was more impressive. Neither villains, though, were as good as Zoltar in Battle of the Planets. Zoltar was masked but in one episode the mask slipped, and the briefly revealed face was either female or transgender. It was never mentioned again.

The programme that nobody remembers, including my eldest daughter who used to watch it, was Star Fleet. I think it was puppets. All I remember is that the good guys would get together and form the X-Bomber, and the evil second in command had a scorpion on his head and used to say "By your divine guidance!" in a high pitched, hysterical voice whenever he received an order. It must have been on TV in the early 80s. I think that it was probably Japanese.
