To hope someone can help me to remember this early 90s cartoon?

I first tried to remember this animated series about 20 years ago, and I think of it every few years but get nowhere. Googling never throws up the right programme, and you're about to realise why: I recall almost nothing about it Grin

Here's what I recall:

CITV
Very early 90s, maybe late 80s but I'm fairly sure it's 90 something.
Theme tune reminded me of Ordinary World by Duran Duran
Animated
Set on an island/group of islands
Opening credits are an aerial view of the island (s)

It is not Charlie Chalk or Cockleshell Bay. It probably wasn't very long-lived.

I'm not holding out much hope, and appreciate that's not much to go on. Please help me to lay this to rest!

@onlymyselftoanswerto1

Has anyone said Denver the last dinosaur? Can't get the damn song out of my head now Grin
Denver the last dinosaur, he’s my friend and a whole lot more! 🎶

@Vivianebrookskoviak

Well, the intro to 'Gophers!' had like islands at the beginning. Still love that show but only ever 2 or 4 episodes on YouTube. Moondial I still have the video of somewhere. Other programs that spring to mind that haven't been mentioned so far- Tom's Midnight Garden Elly and Jools (Australian,aired on C4 I think!) Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds (Yes the theme tune was cool!) There was another one I vaguely remember from the late 80s about a secret garden, or a stately home, not Moondial or Tom's Midnight Garden but something else. Moondial is a classic though. I think the BBC did quite a few atmospheric dramas in the late 80s so it could be one I've not mentioned that they produced?
The Children of Green Knowe?
takingmytimeonmyride · 23/06/2021 19:38

I was going to say The Children of Green Knowe too. I'd forgotten what it was called and had to go down a google rabbit hole to find it with the little information I'd remembered. Which was basically ghosts! I loved Moondial and Tom's Midnight Garden too.

I absolutely love The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Best theme tune ever!

I'd forgotten all about Moschops, but I remember playing out stuff from it at primary school son now I'm going to have to look it up.

Kappatoo Was about two boys swopping places On citv?

BlindBat · 23/06/2021 19:44

Not Tickle on the Tum?

MargaretFraggle · 23/06/2021 19:45

Loved the Children of Green Knowe. I recently bought the DVD Blush

Also loved Get-along Gang!

katekins · 23/06/2021 19:47

What about the junglies, the theme tune was about a magic island in the sun. Sorry if it's been said already

VoluptuaSneezelips · 23/06/2021 19:48

Could it be Fiddley Foodle Bird or Lavender Castle ?

Rainbowsew · 23/06/2021 19:54

@kurtney @Ichoochoochoosethis @MargaretFraggle

I can't remember anymore I'm afraid, but I know I'd know it if I see it, just that final bit.

peoplearepeople · 23/06/2021 19:55

Always loved the theme tune to Jayce and the wheeled warriors. Looking back the cartoon wasn't that great, but always used to get up to listen to the theme. Grin

VoluptuaSneezelips · 23/06/2021 19:55

Had to come back and post again (wish we could edit posts) as just came across this Jem of a video, an hour of 90's kids shows opening credits. I had forgotten half of these.

Rainbowsew · 23/06/2021 19:58

omg that Haunters of the Deep could be it!!!
Thank you so much!! I shall be looking up how to get hold of it...

acatcalledjohn · 23/06/2021 20:03

I was going to suggest Swiss Family Robinson too.

My alternative guess (if not mentioned yet) would be Robinson Sucroe.

acatcalledjohn · 23/06/2021 20:06

And Nils Holgersson.

geordieone · 23/06/2021 20:12

Noah's Island ?

AutistGoth · 23/06/2021 20:22

Maybe we need blameitonjorge on the case, OP? He specialises in lost media.

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear

I have no idea at all!

I just wanted to say that 20 years ago was 2001, not the late 80s early 90s. Shock

20 years ago is when OP was first trying to remember the show, not when it aired
purplebunny2012 · 23/06/2021 20:26

@movingadviceneeded

Is it the Dreamstone, OP? Theme song was something like "better than a dream"....
I remember that show!
ArDali1 · 23/06/2021 20:33

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, Captain Pugwash?

purplebunny2012 · 23/06/2021 20:33

@NoMoreHGTVPlease

Round the twist was awesome. There are some very dodgy videos on you tube though. Looking back, the episode about the windmill willy was a bit inappropriate!
I have it on DVD. But they didn't record video diaries, so must be another show in a lighthouse
purplebunny2012 · 23/06/2021 20:38

Is anyone else getting Candle Cove vibes? Wink

CHIShandler · 23/06/2021 20:46

I'm not sure I'm going to have an aha moment here. Swiss Family Robinson does seem to match pretty much everything I remember about it.

CHIShandler · 23/06/2021 20:52

Unrelated, but Watt on Earth was brilliant, wasn't it?

OP posts:
PineappleWilson · 23/06/2021 20:53

I don't think anyone's suggested Dungeons and Dragons which was kids trying to get on a theme park ride home but never making it (spoiler!). I can't remember the theme though.

@Pollmere do you mean Chocky and Chocky's Challenge? (Chokky sp.?)
