To not understand the vaccine drama

I am so confused by all this anti-vaxxer hate and mandating the COVID vaccine for certain professions extra. IMO if you have had the vaccine (which I have, well I’m awaiting my 2nd dose) surely people who haven’t had the jab pose no increased threat to us. The only people they cause harm to are fellow anti-vaxxers and other unvaccinated people for whom the risk is always present.

Surely whether we like it or not it is a personal choice whether you receive the vaccine or not and the freedom of choice is something we should all advocate for whether we agree with the decision or not surely?!? I just don’t get it and the divide it is causes amongst friends, family and the greater society is saddening. AIBU?!?! If so can someone explain to me how unvaccinated relatives and friends are potentially harmful to me despite having received the jab?

@OchonAgusOchonOh -Yes unfortunately the more appropriate word eluded me at the time so used a less appropriate word to convey my message - which you understood. All is well.

More ridiculous because your linear way of thinking does not allow you to comprehend? I will admit I have posted a lot of my musings to be considered for debate. Which may be hard to grasp if your parameters for analytical assessment are rigid...

Anyway your opinion of my conduct is interesting. I’ll be sure to keep it in mind for future debates Smile

@ddl1 There is an undertone to what you’re saying that suggests to be unvaccinated is to be unhealthy and to be riddled with communicative diseases. Which doesn’t sit right with me.

@Lei8133 - More ridiculous because your linear way of thinking does not allow you to comprehend?

No idea what that means.

Generally, some form of logic needs to be be evident if you want debate.

Undertone? It's no undertone; it's my view, expressed loud and clear!! Of course, it's not the case for every individual, just as not everyone who smokes gets a lung disease. But people who don't get vaccinated run a higher risk of communicable diseases. And if most people in a society don't get vaccinated, either from choice or from lack of access to vaccines, then the diseases are likely to run rampant at least at intervals, and there will be frequent epidemics.

Roonerspismed · 24/06/2021 14:47

I have to say I see it as the opposite. I see the covid vaccinations as very helpful for the vulnerable but overall as not helpful to overall health due to many factors. In fact the thought of boosters worries me more due to the repeated exposure to accumulating nanoparticles and the spike protein which seems to travel around. And no I don’t take the pill.

@OchonAgusOchonOh You don’t know what that means...

Yes, of course... you’re so right. If you say it (honourable Prof. Brainbox, top authority on determining the nations intelligence) it must be true. Thank you for schooling me...

Lol, enjoy the rest of your day hon x

Not sure how telling you I didn't understand something you wrote is schooling you....

While it's wonderful that you think I'm so intelligent, I'm much more modest myself.

Lei8133 · 24/06/2021 17:29

@OchonAgusOchonOh - Yes your modesty is evident. You don’t give yourself enough credit.

I think you’re super intelligent! Of course that’s just my opinion... but lest not forget that I have an inability to understand basic logic.

I never said you didn't have the ability to understand basic logic. I have no idea whether you do.

I said your deliberately provocative posts make you look stupid as they are written in a way that suggests a lack of comprehension and basic logic. You claimed your posts were not necessarily your position but rather a response that might come from someone who did not want to avail of the vaccine.

Anyway, I've clearly upset you but, as you say, I'm just a random on the internet, so obviously have no idea what you're actually like or how intelligent or otherwise you are. I'm simply responding to posts as written.

Lei8133 · 24/06/2021 17:59

@OchonAgusOchonOh This has clearly just become the ‘Ochon & Lei’ show. Offended... by the personal tone, slightly. Upset... never.

I just find it funny that you became insulting... but you are just a random on the internet casting aspersions as if what you think is the authority and that I believe impedes intellectual debate more than playing Devil’s advocate. But hey ho..

Honestly up until the ‘stupid’ comment I was enjoying your thought sharing and appreciated your conflicting/comparative views. I’ve enjoyed this back & forth.

OP posts:
OchonAgusOchonOh · 24/06/2021 18:10

@Lei8133 - it was a question as to why you were happy to make comments that come across as stupid when they aren't your actual opinion. Not quite the same as calling you stupid.

And no, I have never claimed to be an authority on anything. I have opinions I posted and am quite happy to post arguments to refute counterarguments and to support my position.

Lei8133 · 24/06/2021 19:29

@OchonAgusOchonOh I didn’t feel it was presented in that way. But everything is open to interpretation.

Up until then I valued your input as I stated.

Ultimately I think we’ve murdered this thread Grin

Just waiting for the outcry now some countries are on the green last for double jabbed tourists. The unvaccinated will be frothing at the mouth. But it is what it is. The ball is in their court. Vaccinate and you can go, dont vaccinate and it’s a week in costa del UK.

Shame people don't get this bothered about the forthcoming football, horseracing, F1 and tennis.

All those dirty, unvaccinated, non social distancing, non or inappropriate mask wearing unvaccinated scumbags daring to mix with the vaccinated shudder
**@Lei8133 - In a way yes I suppose I was, in an attempt to point out a sentiment those opposed to the vaccine might raise when you make a statement such as ‘people die all the time’

Why though? You're just making yourself look stupid. A comment like you made suggests a basic lack of understanding of simple logic.
@Lei8133 - I didn’t feel it was presented in that way. But everything is open to interpretation.

Fair enough. That was how it was meant though (I have quoted it above for reference Grin).

Up until then I valued your input as I stated.

I had valued yours until it got to the extreme points that were being made purely to be provocative (which you did admit was the case) so I felt you were doing yourself (and the thread) a disservice going down that route.

Ultimately I think we’ve murdered this thread

Yep. Kiss and make up?

Carrot being dangled to get me to get the jab.... and it seems I don't like carrots. Or more accurately, can't afford them anyway.

Something sad about rubbing your hands in glee about the prospect of people getting the jab for holidays... when many who are not taking the jab can't afford them anyway.
