To buy a second pair of my 'happy shoes'

I bought a pair of shoes a few weeks ago and I just love them. WIBU to buy a second pair so that when these inevitably break I have a backup? They weren't expensive so that isn't an issue

@MyGhastIsFlabbered DEFO!

I have done it a few times. Not super expensive stuff, but £10 to £15 pairs of comfy/decent quality sandals and flip flops.

DO it! Smile

Megan2018 · 11/06/2021 15:26

I do this whenever I can afford to for clothes and shoes.
John Lewis once had a bra that fitted me like a glove, I ended up with 9 of them (3 each in black, white and nude) so I could replace. It's now discontinued and I wish I'd bought 900 of them but alas they were too expensive.

Sorry for not posting earlier, I got caught up at work! And Hmmat the fun sponges on this thread. No I haven't genuinely been angsting over this, but having 2 identical pairs of shoes just seems a bit OTT

I fear a lot of you will be disappointed...the shoes are completely ridiculous, I doubt very fashionable but I just absolutely love them. And finding non-leather, non-plastic affordable shoes is hard work.

Here they are in all their glory!!

Shock They're lovely OP
Laiste · 11/06/2021 15:39

You're lucky! Next shoes never fit me quite right.

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/06/2021 15:40

Yes, a wise decision!

I like them but definitely get a second pair as they even warn in the description that they are occasional use only so not made to last!
Member984815 · 11/06/2021 15:41

Yes get them , I had a pair I loved and wore to death thinking I'd easily get another identical pair at my shoe shop but no and I miss them so much

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 11/06/2021 15:48

Ya so nbu
I've done this very thing more than once.

CormorantStrike · 11/06/2021 15:51

They are great, definitely get a backup pair!

@Megan2018 I think the thing about occasional use is because they have a wedge heel and are in the kids section so to do with not damaging children's feet rather than the quality of the shoes.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/06/2021 15:53

I still regret not buying a pair in every colour of the most perfect Ecco sandals that have since expired. They haven't had anything as good in since.

I often do this with clothing, I have three pairs of the same black trousers, four pairs of the same jeans in three different colours and a couple of tops that really suited me so I bought one of them in another three colours and duplicate for the other in the same colour (because I didn't like the only other colour that it came in). At my age (frumpy 50s) I feel that things don't really go out of fashion all that quickly because they weren't really in fashion to start with so I'm definitely getting good wear out of them.

FreezerBird · 11/06/2021 15:54

Definitely do it, UNLESS you are likely to have children in the next couple of years (no idea whether you might or not!).

My feet changed massively with pregnancy and I mourned shoes I'd had before.

Sparklingbrook · 11/06/2021 15:56

My only worry is that I would never wear the second pair, by the time I had worn out the first pair I would want a different pair of shoes.

Yes. Always always do this.

Once things are not in fashion it can take 15 years for something similar to reappear. I've learnt over the decades to always buy two or three. This goes for shoes, T shirts in my favourite colour, even lovely material I may not see again.

MedusasBadHairDay · 11/06/2021 16:16

Those are gorgeous OP, are they comfy?

Blossomtoes · 11/06/2021 16:37

I love those @MyGhastIsFlabbered. They remind me of my beautiful Terry de Havilland wedges I bought a million years ago when I was young.

ginghamtablecloths · 11/06/2021 16:45

Definitely yes to this. The style could be discontinued when you need it and that would be disappointing.

MerryChristmasToYou · 11/06/2021 17:10

They're not my taste but I can see the appeal. Get a spare pair or two. You love them.

CoffeeWithCheese · 11/06/2021 17:33

I would. I've just found some shoes I can get away with for work purposes that just skirt around the edge of "trainers" and I'm going to buy another couple of pairs so I've got spares because finding comfy shoes that don't shred my feet is a bloody nightmare.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/06/2021 17:40

I often do this with shoes and clothes

youshouldbeplotting · 11/06/2021 17:56

Aw, they are really cute OP!

Pottedpalm · 11/06/2021 18:34

Do it! I bought two pairs of leopardskin pattern loafers from m&s. I wish I had bought a third pair as I have worn them to death and although they have the same style this year the colour is darker and not as nice. ☹️

I was just thinking this myself. I bought a pair of shoes for my return to work after furlough as they have memory foam and it really helps with my fibro pain. They are so comfortable I'm thinking of going to get another pair for when these ones eventually unwearable. I know if I don't ill really regret it.
weegiepower · 11/06/2021 19:50

I have 3 pairs of the same trainers that I got in the sale (different colours) and so glad I did it, I rarely ever see them on sale now and they're £160 on the Adidas website. I work out every day so wear them everyday, one pair has just worn through and had the back ups ready and waiting!
