To buy a second pair of my 'happy shoes'

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 11/06/2021 11:15

I bought a pair of shoes a few weeks ago and I just love them. WIBU to buy a second pair so that when these inevitably break I have a backup? They weren't expensive so that isn't an issue

You never need an excuse to buy shoes!
Grin

The wardrobe in my office is full of shoes I've never worn. Blush I just take them.out to admire them and put them away again.

redastherose · 11/06/2021 13:56

Do it, there have been loads of shoes I've mourned when they died and I couldn't replace them like for like.

Yes do it. If I find a pair of perfect black trousers I always cough up for a second pair. But do it fast. There is nothing more disheartening than going back and being told they have sold out.

I bought two pairs of those menorcan slip on sandals in TKMaxx last week, they were a good price and my old pair ,bought on holiday a few years back were on their uppers.

FuckyouCovid21 · 11/06/2021 14:03

@Laiste mine are the The Skinny leather cross-strap sandal - they are like walking on air

SpeakingFranglais · 11/06/2021 14:06

Totally reasonable. I bought a sale pair of walking shoes from millets, good reduction and so comfortable. I wear out loads of walking boots and shoes.

I went on line and bought another three pairs.

I still have two left boxed up.

BlueLobelia · 11/06/2021 14:09

I went back and bought 3 further pairs of jeggings (don't judge me) I liked last week (Tesco - again please please don't judge me! Grin) They look like jeans, they manage to stay secured to my apple-doughnut waist and they just feel good.

Now I am looking at fitflop tia sandals on amazon....

Drinkingallthewine · 11/06/2021 14:13

I do it all the time now after seeing a range of gorgeous colours of skirts in Thailand and only buying one when they were a fraction of the price of a skirt in Primark. Everyone compliments me on that skirt and I'm still pissed off with myself 17 years later that I didn't buy them all.

My last purchase was a gorgeous red dress. I also bought it in navy to have a neutral colour. And I always buy about 4 pairs of knickers to match my lovely bras so I've spares if one or two gets ruined over time.

Waspsarearseholes · 11/06/2021 14:16

@Lockheart

Buy whatever you like, why do you think that would be unreasonable?
You literally give the same tedious reply to every single poster on AIBU.

Buy the shoes, OP!

MrsFlinch · 11/06/2021 14:24

I’ve kicked myself so many times for not duplicating comfy shoes/flip flops especially when they are cheap!
Inevitably when you do go back to try and get some more, you can’t find them anywhere.

I’ve learned my lesson now, stock up whilst you can!

Tal45 · 11/06/2021 14:26

Do it!

Youdoyoutoday · 11/06/2021 14:28

I have 4 pairs of the same flip flops in different colours! They are so comfy

MsFannySqueers · 11/06/2021 14:28

Yes go for it! I read once that Jackie Collins used to buy ten pairs of identical black trousers at a time so she didn’t have to think about what to wear with her tops and jackets. RIP Jackie.

Rachelheels · 11/06/2021 14:41

I’m cabin crew and when I find a comfy pair of heels for work I always buy another few pairs of the same, quite a few of us do

Also do the same with swimwear, luckily in more, normal times I get to spend a lot of time in swimming pools, chlorine can really hit bikinis hard! I often buy several identical ones if I know they are a perfect fit etc

godmum56 · 11/06/2021 14:50

@Hopeisnotastrategy

Do it. I do it all the time.

While you're at it ( drumroll for piece of Hope wisdom coming up....)

Find yourself a good fish slice that sits well in your hand and buy enough to last you a lifetime. Never have the faff of having to get used to a new one.

You're welcome. 😁

OMG yes! I have got THE perfect pair of tongs...but they are 30 years old and I know they are going to die soon. They weren't expensive either
Mummyoflittledragon · 11/06/2021 14:50

YANBU
I have done the same plenty of times. With so many shops last year going under, I stocked up on my favourite clothes. So this year and possibly next I have enough clothes to last me. Turns out the shop was bought out. But I don’t like the this year’s version. So all in all a good result and bought in the sales.

NoisyNuts · 11/06/2021 14:57

Yes do it

LunaLula83 · 11/06/2021 15:01

Yes you have my permission

theDudesmummy · 11/06/2021 15:04

I have also done this with cosmetics, especially one particular lipstick that I have used to about 25 years and love, and nothing else comes near. I used to buy them regularly in a shop (nothing too fancy, you could get them on the aisle in Boots) and then realised they weren't there any more.

Went online and found they had been discontinued but you could still buy online, Bought every one I could find in the world, including from American eBay, where they were commanding prices quite detached from the original price. I think I managed to get about 30. What with much increased working from home now and into the future, I reckon they might bury me with the last few tubes...(I don't waste this lipstick on Zoom meetings, can get away with alternatives on screen).

Laiste · 11/06/2021 15:05

I'll be honest -

I'm doing it (on the quiet) with hand bags and matching purses.

When you find The Perfect Bag and purse it makes sense to buy different colours for the different seasons doesn't it? :)

If you've got more than one of something then they will all last longer as well. So .... you're saving money in the long run.

theDudesmummy · 11/06/2021 15:08

I also have a stockpile of a particular Kipling handbag, in two colours, one I use in winter and one in summer. Have used the same style for many years as a purse/small shoulder bag and would not want to be without it.

Knittedfairies · 11/06/2021 15:09

I do it; particularly useful if you need new shoes when shops are closed but you can buy the same shoe online knowing they will fit.

Cryalot2 · 11/06/2021 15:13

Do it I have done it with shoes, dresses and underwear. Recently I bought a jacket and bought in a different colour .
My rule is if you love it, it's comfortable and you can afford then buy .
Enjoy them .

MadMadMadamMim · 11/06/2021 15:15

Do it. Clarks used to do a pair of really comfy shoes cum trainers that were just about smart enough for work with a pair of trousers.

I had them in several colours but the miserable sods discontinued them. They were Idyllic pump sports shoes but you can't buy them now apparently.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 11/06/2021 15:18

Do it. I'm still haunted by the lost love for the most comfortable high heeled sandals I've ever owned and never been able to find again. I wore those sandals until they were falling apart and miss them more than any man!

shinynewapple21 · 11/06/2021 15:20

Let's see a picture of your happy shoes then Smile
