The law just cannot be allowed to tell people what to think.

Hurrah for Maya!

LadyFidget
Do keep going dear, you do your ‘cause’ the world of good when you engage so thoughtfully and eloquently. Hmm

MouseyTheVampireSlayer · 10/06/2021 11:45

Because your post was rude and accusatory. Mumsnet only allows civilised discussion.

Datun · 10/06/2021 11:46

@LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag

Hang on, I've been deleted? What the fuck for?
I think, and this is just a hunch, it was because you called Maya a transphobic arsehole, for holding a belief that not an hour ago, a judge just said is protected under law.
SlipperyDippery · 10/06/2021 11:46

@LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag presumably for resorting to insults instead of rational discussion, as is so often the ploy of people who hold opinions they know won’t stand up to scrutiny

For calling people names and being incorrect.

Personal insults aren’t allowed. Maybe read the talk guidelines?
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/06/2021 11:46

LadyFidget
Believing in biology is now a protected belief so you can’t just throw insults at us anymore.

You can respectfully disagree but I would think twice about name calling over a protected belief.

Transwomen are transwomen and that’s a perfectly fine thing to be. They have their own needs and experiences which are different to womens. Denying their existence and lived reality is what’s causing the harm to them here.
greyinganddecaying · 10/06/2021 11:47

This is such great news - and relief to know what people who believe in biology will not be persecuted/sacked for saying so.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 10/06/2021 11:47

Maybe just the name calling

People are incorrect here aaallllllll the time, there’d be no posts left 😀

littlbrowndog · 10/06/2021 11:47

Go maya 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Such a brave woman

Exactly. It demonstrates, er, rank beliefism 😁
CervixSampler · 10/06/2021 11:48

So happy to hear this today. The tide is turning rapidly and the world feels like it's being righted again.

Theunamedcat · 10/06/2021 11:48

Nobody is denying they exist but nobody should be denying biological reality either

AllDoneIn · 10/06/2021 11:49

Imagine that a woman needed the law to intervene to protect her for saying that A PERSON CANNOT CHANGE THEIR BIOLOGICAL SEX. Really think about that. A woman lost her job for stating BIOLOGICAL REALITY.

TheGumption · 10/06/2021 11:49

I'm so pleased. The tide is turning!

Yep
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/06/2021 11:50

Datun
We do need a word for it. Beliefism is a good start.
Grin

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 10/06/2021 11:50

Transphobia is arseholery therefore I have said nothing incorrect.

randomlyLostInWales · 10/06/2021 11:50

@BarbarianMum

I know I should be pleased but really I'm just scared at how we came to the point of this needing to be appealed in the first place?
This.

I also find it worrying the huge amount of "disinformation" around what was the case was actually about.

YouSetTheTone · 10/06/2021 11:51

I cried with relief when I heard.

‘Sex matters in life and law and it shouldn’t take courage to say so.’ Maya Forstater.
I will forever be grateful to her for her bravery.

Witchesbelazy · 10/06/2021 11:51

Can someone tell me what makes trans women , women please ? As biologically their won’t be an exact match to a woman so how are some so sure to declare yes they are absolutely women when the science doesn’t back that ?

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 10/06/2021 11:52

British law famously always being right.

Accusing people of transphobia just because they don’t agree with you would also be arseholery so I am very glad you have refrained from doing that in your latest post.
Keepitonthedownlow · 10/06/2021 11:53
