To want a black and rose gold pram for our baby boy

I'm 6 months pregnant and we've decided on getting the Egg2 travel system for our baby boy. I've fallen in love with the black diamond and rose gold edition:

I know it's on the girlier side but I think it's absolutely stunning and don't see what the big deal is about not getting such a pram for a baby boy. It's not like I've chosen a pink pram! Dh is completely against it but I know ultimately he'll succumb to my charms 😅 He is worried about what everyone else will think and say though. Family that I have shown think it's mad to get this pram for a boy due to the rose gold and glittery fabric. Is it really that mad??

My 2nd choice and Dh's 1st choice of colour is the Jurassic grey:

I know rose gold is not to everyone's taste but I personally love it and the pram make me swoon! It's on the pricier side so I don't want us to make the wrong decision.

1.6k on a pram. Feck no.

JessicaBrassica · 17/04/2022 15:36

I'd be more concerned about the length of the carrycot. We inherited a Phil&Ted and D's had outgrown the carrycot well before he was old enough to sit up. We ended up having to buy an alternative which suited him better.

Nocutenamesleft · 17/04/2022 15:37

Trust me

After 6 months you won’t be able to tell the colour of it!!

Prams so very rarely stay the colour you brought them. After mud. Vomit. Poo. Snot. Dog shit get on it!!

Nocutenamesleft · 17/04/2022 15:39

I agree with many others

You’ll get fed up of the travel system. I don’t know aANYONE who used it for more than 1 child. For more than a year. They’re heavy. You don’t use it all.

Suzi888 · 17/04/2022 15:43

@MrsTulipTattsyrup

Choose whatever colour you like. This has no relation to the sex of your baby. I’d be choosing the one I thought would hide the poo/food/vomit stains the best, to be honest.
Yup🥴 ^ This!
TurquoiseDress · 17/04/2022 15:44

I personally wouldn't, not because of having a boy/girl but because I just don't like the pink (sorry I know it's rose gold but just all looks pink to me!)

A blue pram would've been perfect for me even if I'd had 3 girls!

Wouldn't care if anyone thought I had boys, I would just love the colour of the pram!

Heronwatcher · 17/04/2022 15:44

My philosophy from day 1 was that we were going to be equal parents- in everything (apart from BF) and it worked out well for us in that I am not the default parent now the kids are older. I say this because it cuts both ways in that you can’t have everything your own way. I think if you want your partner to spend an equal time pushing the pushchair then he should get equal say in buying it. I also agree with the PPs that the rose gold will date if you’re hoping to sell it on.

My son was in his pram for 2 and a half years. It never had any sick, poo, wee or dog poo (wtf) on it. It's in great condition and will be used for baby number 2. It's navy blue and still the same colour.
TenoringBehind · 17/04/2022 15:57

After 6 months you’ll get fed up with it and swap it for a much lighter and cheap as chips stroller which is easier to use and put away.

I hope that spammer from the pram company realises what a colossal waste of time it was to post on here, given that clearly nobody has seen their advert, sorry, I mean post, and is instead replying to the OP, whose child will more than likely be thinking about walking by now…

ZOMBIE ZOMBIE ZOMBIE 🧟‍♀️

SnowyPetals · 17/04/2022 16:01

Dear Junama Marketing Department, if you want to blend in with your shameless advertising on MN, then at least stop reviving zombie threads. This particular OP will definitely have made her choice by now 😂😂

clpsmum · 17/04/2022 16:04

I don't see anything girlie about it tbh

clpsmum · 17/04/2022 16:05

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Will you mind if people always assume your baby is a girl?
I don't think they would in a black pram would they??
TheKeatingFive · 17/04/2022 16:06

I thought I'd seen this thread before 😂

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/04/2022 16:06

@MinesAPintOfTea

Do you want your DH to feel comfortable taking his son out for walks alone? Get one that is comfortable to use and both of you like the appearance of.
I genuinely don’t understand this comment. Are you suggesting that the colour of the pram would affect his comfort? Confused Just - how?
Twospaniels · 17/04/2022 16:08

Do you all realise this post was started nearly a year ago?

That baby is probably well out of his pink pram By now 😂 👶

bubblesbubbles11 · 17/04/2022 16:12

Provided you are absolutely certain caring for your baby will trump any kind of fashion statement involved in you buying your pram, get any pram you like.

notbecomingmumsy · 17/04/2022 16:14

@Twospaniels sorry that is my bad lol I got confused with the dates. Still living in 2021 Grin

RampantIvy · 17/04/2022 16:16

The only thing that would concern me would be is the handle tall enough? DH and I are both tall. We had a hand me down pram from my sister, but when we bought a stroller when DD was bigger we needed one with long enogh handles so that we could walk without bending over. I didn't care what colour it was.

TruJay · 17/04/2022 16:16

Everyone thought my ds was a girl for years no matter what he wore or what colour pram/pushchair he had. Buy the pram you like.

I saw a beautiful egg pram over this weekend and the carry cot was a gorgeous rust orange colour, I can’t even remember what colour the frame was. Don’t know why that’s relevant, it was just lovely so thought I’d share Grin

Zombie zombie zombie

Peppapig7262662 · 17/04/2022 16:20

Go for it, although you probably will want to switch to a lightweight pushchair at some point.

DD when in an umbrella style buggy at 6 months, so much more practical than a pram style one.

Therefore I wouldn't spend that amount of money, but it's your baby!

Peppapig7262662 · 17/04/2022 16:21

Zombie zombie zombie

Ah shite, gets me everytime 😂

Robinni · 17/04/2022 16:23

I wouldn’t go for the “rose gold” for a boy. Sorry OP but - it’s pink. You’re going to get people coming up and asking you “how old is she?” Etc

I agree with your DH, the grey is much better. It also looks classier, the first one looks cheap with the rose gold.
