I’ve actually liked the weather recently

I’m in the south east. Anyone else or am I crazy? I don’t have young kids so not had to entertain them in parks etc which I can imagine has been hard.
I love the sound of rain on the windows/roof and find the heavy monsoon-like but not that cold rain really cosy/relaxing. I went for a run in the pouring rain the other day listening to Purple Rain and other dramatic songs and I loved it so much-so many endorphins. My dogs don’t mind it and I like walking them when there’s less “fair weather walkers” around. There have been some lovely dramatic rainclouds/skies and rainbows too. It’s also so nice when you get back to get dry and snuggle down and not feel like I have to leave the house again.
I’ve actually been relieved to cancel meeting friends in the park (think the novelty of this ran out last summer) and pub gardens (I know it’s been awful for the pub owners). I’m not a big fan of summer (pale redhead) and spend the whole time sweating, feeling uncomfortable in summer clothes, dodging the sun and getting too hot/worrying about when to walk the dogs and feeling like I should be making the most of the weather having bbqs with people I don’t even like that much if it’s over 20 degrees like it should be this time of year.
Just wondered if anyone is similar or if you’re all depressed by the rain and love a hot summer?

I'm ging walking with a friend this afternoon. I'm wearing wellies.

RubyGoat · 25/05/2021 12:48

I like the rain, but
I don't like muddy wet legs
The grass desperately needs cutting
I can't get rid of the weeds in my garden until it's dry for long enough for the weedkiller to work, and
I'm desperate for some decent weather to get the washing dry, it takes so long indoors & makes the house look like a laundry. Barely any clean clothes left...

We loved it on Friday night, snuggled up un bed watching a film with tea and cake. Yet trying to get around and out the house has been a nightmare. Not a fan of the heat at all but this is getting annoying. Still, hopefully the last day of it now.

FedNlanders · 25/05/2021 12:59

I'm loving it.

Many of the wildflowers and weeds have thrived and looks amazing.

No annoying neighbours doing a bbq either.

We've had shite weather for about 2 years. The last 2 summers have been dismal other than a couple of freakily hot days and winter just seems to have gone on and on with that damp, bone soaking, depressing cold. We're due some sustained warmth and sun now.

Serpenta · 25/05/2021 13:27

I don't mind the current weather but my sympathies are with the sun lovers as their preferred weather is so much rarer. It's nearly always grey and damp in the UK.

I am so pissed off! I have so many plants that need planting out, my courgettes have rotted in the pots. I'm stting here in the kitchen listening to the rain AGAIN. I wanted to plant my sweet peas out before I go on a short holiday today. No chance of that and the holiday will be in the rain too which is a bit shit.

Sloth66 · 25/05/2021 13:34

I’m enjoying the cooler weather, I find the sound of rain relaxing, and the garden looks so green and lush.
But I’m not good in hot weather, I always prefer winter.

RampantIvy · 25/05/2021 13:45

Just seen the weather forecast - a tornado is coming our way!

I hope it blows this low pressure system away.

Acupofcamus · 25/05/2021 13:53

I don’t like hot weather at all but equally hate the constant rain. I do have children to entertain and I also have a long walk to school and back so I’d rather not get piss wet through every day really. I find it depressing when the sky is just permanently grey.

Acupofcamus · 25/05/2021 13:55

Unsure where you’re based but it was crazily hot right throughout spring and summer in Yorkshire last year. I have photos of my DC doing an Easter egg hunt in the garden last year in shorts and T-shirt’s plus plenty of paddling pool photos at this time last year. It’s pissed it down today, again.

someonesomewhere1 · 25/05/2021 14:02

I don't mind the weather if I didn't have two toddlers to entertain day in day out.

FedNlanders · 25/05/2021 14:29

It can warm up end of June as we go away for a month!

I was going to say, huh?! Last summer was hot. I’m almost sure it was a heatwave. I remember it clearly as it was lockdown and I was WFH in the garden. We did daily walks too and it was really hot even at 5pm. We had fans going and I couldn’t sleep most nights it was so hot. My lavender all got toasted and died and they’re native to the Med. 🤣 I feel like it was in the mid to high 20s for several weeks if not longer.

It's saved me using Alexa to listen to rainstorms sounds to get to sleep. We've had a lot of wind outside and I adore the sound.
