I’ve actually liked the weather recently

I’m in the south east. Anyone else or am I crazy? I don’t have young kids so not had to entertain them in parks etc which I can imagine has been hard.
I love the sound of rain on the windows/roof and find the heavy monsoon-like but not that cold rain really cosy/relaxing. I went for a run in the pouring rain the other day listening to Purple Rain and other dramatic songs and I loved it so much-so many endorphins. My dogs don’t mind it and I like walking them when there’s less “fair weather walkers” around. There have been some lovely dramatic rainclouds/skies and rainbows too. It’s also so nice when you get back to get dry and snuggle down and not feel like I have to leave the house again.
I’ve actually been relieved to cancel meeting friends in the park (think the novelty of this ran out last summer) and pub gardens (I know it’s been awful for the pub owners). I’m not a big fan of summer (pale redhead) and spend the whole time sweating, feeling uncomfortable in summer clothes, dodging the sun and getting too hot/worrying about when to walk the dogs and feeling like I should be making the most of the weather having bbqs with people I don’t even like that much if it’s over 20 degrees like it should be this time of year.
Just wondered if anyone is similar or if you’re all depressed by the rain and love a hot summer?

YABU, you get your miserable rainy weather 9 months of the year, it’s time us SAD sufferers had our turn!

felinelucky · 24/05/2021 21:56

@SappysCurry love it 😆. I may give the kitchen towel a go. Every towel I own is currently in the laundry bag waiting to be de-catted.

ilovesooty · 24/05/2021 21:58

And as for your 'just wondered', I hope it's sunny, hot and dry all through September and October to compensate for the summer we haven't had.

SappysCurry · 24/05/2021 21:59

@felinelucky
You just need ‘Juan’ sheet 😂
But I buy cheap stuff 😂
Yes try kitchen roll probably works out cheaper that ‘de-catting’ 😂😂 your Egyptian cotton towels 😻

lavenderandwisteria · 24/05/2021 22:02

@ilovesooty

Ah now I can’t agree there, that’s just when I’m hoping for the damp autumnal weather we are having now!
BooseysMom · 24/05/2021 22:02

LOVE it but I moan about it with everyone else bc I don’t want to seem weird.

I'm the same. I'm actually relieved the heat waves have been delayed so far..but they're just around the corner believe me! I will be staying out of the sun as usual and most likely on here moaning about the heat! 🥵

IhateBoswell · 24/05/2021 22:02

so I think it’s a bit understandable that this thread may annoy a couple of people.

Every thread on here annoys a couple of people. You wonder why they open them up and reply to them 🤔

JetBlackSteed · 24/05/2021 22:03

At this time of year I don't mind a downpour when it's warmish rain and just a good soaking. As PP have said the skies can be dramatic and the light interesting.
But it's nearly June and last Thursday the rain was driving in sideways with 50 mph gusts of wind and it was biting cold out.
It was like November, dark and cold all day. I'd like a bit of a change of season now please.

Stakhanovite · 24/05/2021 22:04

@IhateBoswell

Do any of you who love the rain wear glasses?

I don’t, no.

Yeah, I do. Glasses + covid mask + rain is pretty special, I'll admit.
Aquagirl19 · 24/05/2021 22:18

I'm the same! Hate the summer. Love it when it rains.

Vicliz24 · 24/05/2021 22:20

I cannot tell you how much I am longing for the sun . To be warm and dry again will be bloody marvellous.

ChaToilLeam · 24/05/2021 22:23

Well, I’m glad someone was happy about it...

I’m ready for the rain to fuck off now. The plants are watered, time for a bit of sun and warmth.

Chunkymenrock · 24/05/2021 22:26

I don't mind it at all. I can just hide away at home and be comfortable.

opinionminion · 24/05/2021 22:28

It's lovely and cosy indoors, love to hear the wind and rain hammering on the windows. It's exhilarating out, wrapping up and battling against the elements ! The sky is constantly changing and it makes me feel alive !

DeathBy1000PipeCleaners · 24/05/2021 22:47

It's wonderful. I could do an entire summer of this.

As soon as the sun comes out, without fail, a crowd of guests immediately arrives in next door's garden (I swear they have them on standby) and even with the windows shut, my house fills up with loud shouting, awful music and cigarette/BBQ smoke until the small hours. I've hated sunny days since they moved in.

Rain = peace and quiet. If anyone's got any rain they don't want, send it my way.

Flimgalos · 24/05/2021 22:51

I love it too. I hate Summer with a passion. I don’t mind Spring when it’s just warm enough to wear a dress or t shirt but I hate any warmer than that.
Roll on Winter!

psychomath · 24/05/2021 23:14

I'd mind it less if I didn't have to walk to work!

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 24/05/2021 23:22

Yep. I like the rain (not wind though). You do know that this thread is going to jinx it though, right? It will be hot and sunny til November now Angry

Roblockedin · 24/05/2021 23:24

No. It’s cold, dreary and relentless.
Ds has had 3 cricket matches and 2 training sessions cancelled after not being able to play at all last year when the weather was beautiful
Dog training repeatedly cancelled
Constantly muddy paws and footprints in the kitchen
Not able to do much in garden
Running trails like rivers
Not being able to meet more than 6 people inside is shit when it’s pissing down

Youngatheart00 · 24/05/2021 23:25

I don’t mind a day or two of it, and also love the sound of heavy rain (when I don’t need to go out in it) and the freshness afterwards.

However, for it to be like this for days and weeks on end is now thoroughly depressing me. I need some sunshine, the warmth on my skin, the vitamin D, the extra living space which is my garden!!

Xmasbaby11 · 24/05/2021 23:26

It's fine for me - very mild, about the right temperature in the North. I don't mind the rain but then I have a car so don't have to walk in it if I don't want to.

SallyCinnabon · 24/05/2021 23:27

I love the rain OP, the sound of it is so calming. Our garden is looking great too, the constant rain and the odd bit of sunshine has made everything just perk up. I prefer being cold as I can wrap up, getting too hot makes me irritable. It’s on its way out anyway apparently and looking like it might be a warm bank hol

lavenderlou · 24/05/2021 23:31

I hate it because I'm a KS1 teacher and the constant wet playtimes are hideous! The children need to run around and I need a few minutes peace.... Also I had loads of lovely nature-inspired work planned that doesn't happen easily in the rain. Had to abandon a planned insect hunt as all the insects were either drowned or hiding away from the terrible weather.

SallyCinnabon · 24/05/2021 23:33

@wingsnthat

Well I mean, if you lack a social life and barely leave your house, the rain is probably comforting

But it’s not great for those of us who work outside of the house, or that have active social lives

🤣 Why does the rain stop you being social? We can all socialise inside and eat/drink in restaurants now, I’m so confused,

Some of the comments on this thread. How disgraceful of you OP, how dare you have a differing opinion and also post about it! 🤣 Don’t you know you’re gloating and rubbing it in to those who like hot weather and don’t forget you must be a hermit 😆 I don’t know if people are getting weirder or I’m becoming less tolerating but my God 🤣

Goldieloxx · 25/05/2021 00:01

I love it because no one is outside using power tools and the neighbour's screeching kids can't use their trampoline
