To be gobsmacked that an interviewee openly told dh that he had looked at our accounts…

On companies house?

Dh did an interview today via zoom and the interviewee openly told him that they had looked at our company accounts on companies house to see if we were a healthy company!

Our dividends are on there and I'm really shocked that he basically admitted to being so nosey.

I know they are public information (which i disagree with) but they do show the company income, how much cash was in the bank and our salary etc.

Dh wants to offer him the job as he had some good qualities, but this has really put me off him.

I know people do look at peoples companies on the companies house, but you don't bloody tell them surely?!

Would you still offer him the job?

This was something taught to us in business school. Not unusual at all

I personaly woul be telling the interviewee to run, run very far and very fast from your company.
If you can't understand wwhy a job candidate would research the company they're aapplying for, then you honestly don't deserve employees.

Remcmillan1204 · 01/01/2022 14:06

I would expect a potential employee to do research on a company that want a job in. This includes accounts.

Purple52 · 01/01/2022 14:24

If you don’t like that he can potentially work out yours:your husbands earnings, consider:

  1. Are you using the correct accounting standard for disclosure (are you sharing too much information in the public domain? Or are you obligated to)
  2. Change the structure of how your draw your money so it’s not so obvious! & potentially more tax efficient.
  3. Spend more money on your accountant to help you achieve the above restructuring! & stop being so tight about it! …. Accountancy fees should be about the cheapest possible compliance and a good accountant will discuss concerns like this with you and stop them happening quite so clearly.

The interviewee has done exactly what I would have hoped! Assuming your employing someone to help you run your business full time and not do the cleaning 6 hours a week!!

And I would expect posters to check how old the thread is.
fitsandgiggles · 01/01/2022 14:48

I have done this many times before interviews

wombat1a · 01/01/2022 14:57

I would certainly do this too, for a small company it only makes sense because you'd want to know if they are a going concern or going under before taking an job offered.

Full marks to the young geezer.

ginexplorer · 01/01/2022 19:08

Crikey I hope he finds somewhere with a better employer. You don’t deserve such a good candidate. Honestly - I can barely understand how you are even in business with such an attitude

alexdgr8 · 01/01/2022 19:22

you sound mean.
you don't know anyone who tips, really ??
you all sound mean.
birds of a feather flock together.

Blame MNHQ for that - they posted an advert on Facebook today

You do realise they're public?

I have a 3 month old baby girl, her father lives down south. He works away around Country and can very rarely get time off to come up to see her and has now requested to start taking her down South for a week 2 times a month. so he has her 50 percent of the time and I do.
he would picking her up travelling 750 miles down country (with stops) and then leaving her with grandparents/family/babysitters while he goes away to work and will be home every other night maybe longer. I feel confused to why his so desperate to take her away from her home when he won't really be spending the time with her. when he was coming up I let him stay at my home to spend over nights with her and he rented a property for a week where she went and stayed 2 nights, I felt completely fine with this.
last month she was admitted to hospital as she was very poorly so I have so many concerns in regards to this, and many other things.
I understand his a dad and its great he wants to take her. What's everyone's views on this?
I have read a few cases where courts have agreed to letting a child travel from 18 months, but from 3 months I think is a bit wrong?

any advise would be appreciated
thanks

Welcome @Loulabell6321, but unfortunately you've somehow managed to tack your post onto the end of a seven-month-old thread about company accounts! No one will notice it and you will get no advice. You need to start your own thread with it's own title.
