To be gobsmacked that an interviewee openly told dh that he had looked at our accounts…

On companies house?

Dh did an interview today via zoom and the interviewee openly told him that they had looked at our company accounts on companies house to see if we were a healthy company!

Our dividends are on there and I'm really shocked that he basically admitted to being so nosey.

I know they are public information (which i disagree with) but they do show the company income, how much cash was in the bank and our salary etc.

Dh wants to offer him the job as he had some good qualities, but this has really put me off him.

I know people do look at peoples companies on the companies house, but you don't bloody tell them surely?!

Would you still offer him the job?

@MadMadaMim why resurrect this thread?

Because they're batshit crazy.

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one.

2bazookas · 29/12/2021 16:01

???? I'd say its a standard enquiry by any applicant with a brain.
He probably checked you both out on FB, linkedin, online, and took a look at your house and its value.

It shows admirable qualities in an employee. Forward thinking, tactical planning, research, organisation, open honesty. He can use those skills for your business.

You should snap him up.

Maybe they did….back in MAY when this thread is from!

I thought I was having deja vu for a minute then.

RB68 · 29/12/2021 16:31

absolutely he should look at them - why wouldn't he he wants to understand your trading history and that you are healthy with prudent management. I would think him stupid if he didn't to be honest

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 29/12/2021 16:38

The interviewee did nothing wrong. You need to work on your issues.

And for someone that doesn’t like people knowing their salary, it’s a bit strange you just told us all your salary.

Bwix · 29/12/2021 16:41

It’s a normal thing to do. Are you trying to screen out normal people? I check any tradesperson I employ on Companies House

EerieSilence · 29/12/2021 16:52

Of course I would offer him a job.
He used public information and it's his life and career on the line too. You don't want to join a company that's losing money and is close to go bankrupt.

Fredstheteds · 29/12/2021 16:54

Honestly if I changing schools as a teacher I would read the ofsted - if I was in the small business I would at your accounts too.

MadMadaMim · 29/12/2021 16:54

SORRY EVERYONE

this was linked in a MN email - I didn't realise it was an old post.

In response to some comments:

No policing going on here - simply adding my thoughts, opinions, views (to a post I didn't realise was months old). The OP specifically asked why the issue with her grammar and I tried to explain what it was probably referring to.

As for tipping comment - IMO the OP has misunderstood what minimum wage - again, I tried to show the difference vwtween that and the living wage OP referred to.

Sorry again for the resurrection - not intentional.

@Butchyrestingface well chosen name - I'm guessing you do, both visually and characteristically. Name calling strangers and insulting a whole huge portion of society seems to be something that makes you feel better about yourself (can't imagine why else people do it) - carry on but it's a quick fix. Being nasty to complete strangers won't actually fix what's wrong with you. Happy new year to you.

Says the person who resurrects a 7 month old thread to have a go at someone about their grammar and lack of tipping. Grin

before an interview you do homework on the company. You need to show you've looked at the company you want to join and also that its viable.

why would you punish someone for doing those two sensible things?

eagerlywaitingfor · 29/12/2021 17:02

I'd definitely check I'd got the right date.

Benjispruce5 · 29/12/2021 17:10

Absolutely fine in my book. It’s as much an interview for him as it is for you. Shows he is thorough and honest with it.

why on earth is MN doing this? This is the second one of these I've seen this week.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 29/12/2021 17:14

He’s interviewing you just as much as you are interviewing him. It’s a two-way process. Personally, I’d be impressed at his attention to detail.

Allycott · 29/12/2021 17:14

No wonder your husband does the interviewing!

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 29/12/2021 17:18

Oops. Can I get my first ‘RTFT!’ award?

Raychelle · 29/12/2021 17:19

I wanna know if he actually got the job!

Butchyrestingface · 29/12/2021 17:20

@Raychelle

I wanna know if he actually got the job!
I think he did.

I'm just intrigued to know how it's all going. Xmas Smile

Iwab82 · 29/12/2021 17:26

I did this as I would only want to move jobs if I knew the new job had no risk of redundancy.

Showpan · 29/12/2021 17:31

What a strange response. Of course he should do his homework and look at all the info available. And of course he shares that he did, it would be odd to be secretive.

ManicPixie · 29/12/2021 17:34

Can’t be bothered to read the thread but the first post made me chuckle for how sensitive it was. Did the op ever respond?

Nocutenamesleft · 29/12/2021 17:40

I remember this thread

The OP making £167,000!!
