Boy just peed at traffic lights

Waiting to cross the road in city centre and a very jiggly child suddenly pulled down his trousers and pants and peed. Mum had a few more kids so didn't notice and did seemed mortified but surely she should have grabbed him and moved his away? She tried pouring more water over it but it just made it more obvious tbh and it was too late by then!
Aibu to think she should have raised him with better manners than to pee outside? Is this really what the world's come to?

@mainsfed

My advice is still the same.

But YABU for the reverse, they're tedious

I know, I'm sorry. I couldn't face the abuse but also felt shitty it had happened so kinda opened myself up for the abuse at a safer distance

Thanks. There was a school Mom on the bus (although she's got lots of kids so I'm sure she's been there at some point or other!) which made me feel worse. I am impressed he did t just pee himself as he isn't overly bothered about being soiled but we just don't always get there in time. I've taught him to pee in a bush on the way home when he can't last but this was first time in public public

Meh, dogs piss everywhere. A bit of little boy wee is not so bad.

mainsfed · 18/05/2021 17:09

Ah ok, please don't worry about it. People will have seen worse (grown men doing it).

Chickychickydodah · 18/05/2021 17:09

Ffs he was only a kid. It doesn’t matter .

Naunet · 18/05/2021 17:10

Yeah I find it pretty gross, I don’t know why little boys are allowed to pee in public like that, whilst girls are expected to manage. I saw worse in a park a while back, a mum allowing her son to take a shit in public. She screamed at me to keep my dog away - we were not planning on coming anywhere near them, who would?! I was tempted to scream back to pick up after her son, but was too gobsmacked.

Voomster953 · 18/05/2021 17:11

Oh FFS. You’ll get more ‘abuse’ now, you’d made yourself sound like a creepy observer.

SummerHouse · 18/05/2021 17:12

It's a bit of a rock and a hard place. I think at six I would be saying find a tree or wet yourself. Don't go at the traffic lights. But he did what he did and I wouldn't fault him for that. At least you don't have wet clothes to deal with.

LST · 18/05/2021 17:12

We've had instances where my dc couldn't wait. The best solution is to find a private corner but obviously he took matters into his own hands. No worse than dog wee! I wouldn't worry about it.

I am not sure where you got that boys are "allowed", girls "aren't".

Eh? I'd treat girls exactly the same as boys?
HumourReplacementTherapy · 18/05/2021 17:14

Honestly I'd have just laughed.
Don't worry.

Amichelle84 · 18/05/2021 17:15

I'd rather my kid done that than pissed himself.

anon12345678901 · 18/05/2021 17:16

He's only little, my DS has gone in a bush before, granted not the same but it was outside and he couldn't hold it. In all honesty at least he pulled his trousers down and went rather than wetting through his clothes and being cold and wet. Plus if you're in the UK, you have a high chance it'll rain soon and all be washed away Grin

You know, you could just not post about it on Mumsnet then there would be no abuse at all?

Embracelife · 18/05/2021 17:17

What was point of pouring water? It s a road which has worse .
Just pee.
Move on
Presumably he has some kind of SEN
Just don't take him to visit bathroom shops ....

UCOinanOCG · 18/05/2021 17:18

It's just wee. My dog pees on pavements. Can't get too worked up about a small child's wee.

BlowDryRat · 18/05/2021 17:19

As an observer, I would have found this mildly amusing. Certainly nothing to get het up about. It's a small child thinking quickly when getting caught short, not a grown man just whacking it out because he's an uncouth lout.

WhatDidISee84 · 18/05/2021 17:19

I did think a trail of pee and then getting on a bus like that / a trail of pee into the nearest clothes shop would be far worse

Grin. Yes definitely don't do this, my DD when 5/6, decided to try a loo in a bathroom shop. Thankfully stopped her in time.

Ah give over. Boys have the plumbing for a stand up wee. Let 'em enjoy it whilst they are learning the etiquette!

Having stood with my dog beside a mum I didn't know, sheltering her daughter who piped up "Mummy, I am doing a poo ^now!" I have no time at all for the po-faced who judge small kids and their mums for such things!

No SEN he just did what he thought was right as the pee was coming

You know that wee is sterile, right? It’s not pleasant but it’s not going to kill anyone

Has he some development delay? Six is quite late for being toilet trained. I guess the answer might be to take him to a toilet if there is one around, even if he's not sure he needs it, to help him last all the way home.
