Continuing the previous thread - people's sexuality varies hugely and what some people think is disgusting is good fun for others. It's impossible to generalise and say XYZ practice is wrong or repugnant and I agree with the posts at the end of the other thread that porn often just reflects what people do. Obviously you pick where your own interests lie and are glad human beings are diverse.

There's lots of things I dont' like DaddyJ but I don't call them all gang rape. I call things that are gang rape scenarios "gang rape scenarios" and OBM is right that the issue of consent when a woman is surrounded by men who want to sexually use her is a dodgy one. What happens when a woman says no to two men, to three men, to ten men? Most women wouldn't be able to fight off a single man let alone a group of them.

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:33

obm, I think mainly I have focused on it,
most other posters have discussed other
aspects of porn with E & MT.

Thank you for having a look anyway.

I don't want to push you too hard but
can you tell me what aspect of the visuals,
i.e. the pictures, remind you of coercion?

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 21:33

Did you read what Ozymandius said about your insistence that I watch porn when I've already told you how much it would disturb me DaddyJ? She was right, it is borderline abusive.

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 21:34

jh yes there is an issue!

think about what you are saying about what men think about women!

it's actually entirely irrelevant if the individual women care or not, in some respects.

what matters is that porn is supporting men who want to call women bitches while, or perhaps because, they're fucking them.

i think it was monkeytrousers who earlier made the point that it's women who enjoy sex who often get the most emphatic 'you dirty whore, now you're going to really get your just deserts type treatment'.\

this is not simply about the women involved, it's about what we want our sons to think about women in general.

i like sex, i want my daughter to enjoy it, and my son to enjoy it.

but is this about enjoying sex?>

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:34

Elisabeth, there is only one guy on the pictures.

But you would not know that.

That's why I am not sure how we
can have a debate with you when you have
no knowledge of the specifics.

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:35

Then, Elisabetth, do not start highly explicit threads about porn!

Threads on which you mention the most extreme
forms of porn over and over and over again.

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 21:35

Don't have a debate with me then. Leave me the hell alone.

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 21:36

Bordeline abusive, DaddyJ. Borderline abusive. Please take no for an answer.

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 21:37

It would pointlessly sophomoric exercise debating the whys and wherefores of a ban, however DaddyJ.

Yes, I second that OBM with regards to Ozymandius.

Elizabetth, the debate is there for people to read and make up their own minds. I feel you have made your point very well.

I don't think there is anything more to add - not by me anyway. I think it has been argued well.

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 21:37

daddyj can i come back to it another time if this thread is still going?
ds birthdya tomorrow got to wrap presents and out of action mn-wise for next 24 hours.

eliz to be absolutely fair i think ozy was talking about the shaved pube guy not daddyj?

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 21:38

I think use of the word 'scenario' puts it in context very well. Again you are trying to frame E's argument on your own terms as weaker than it is.

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:41

I will try and not take your views seriously,
not unless you actually do your homework.

But I hope you don't mind if I continue
debating with others on this thread.

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:43

no worries, obm, I am just watching some comedy
with the missus and unless MT comes back
I'll give it a rest for tonight.

The funny thing about this thread is that
I originally joined to express my concerns
about porn getting harder and harder!

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 21:43

Oh, how will we sleep knowing you won't take us seriously until we look at your porn!

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 21:44

I'm off to watch a film with my DP.

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 21:47

i'm off to wrestle with sellotape night night

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:48

MT, why is it wrong to discuss the ban?

If I understand correctly there is currently
discussion in the UK parliament about banning
certain forms of online porn.

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 21:49

It's not wrong - it's just pointless. Pick this up tomorrow - n'night

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:50

It is not my porn.
It's the most popular commercial porn on the web - it's mainstream.

If you want to talk about mainstream porn
you need to know what you are talking about.
And E does not. You do, as far as I know.

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 21:51

alright, ciao for now

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 21:52

MT yes 15. But in bat years, that's quite old.

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 21:57

eewww ciao

onebatmother · 17/11/2007 22:01

sorry. 'but in bat years, that's 28.."

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 22:05

Sorry, just an addendum to Lucyellensmum;

Not Belle du Jour but a blog inspired by that, the provenence of which is uncertain.

Re legalised prostitution, I thought the same but have had some pause after reading this

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 22:07

Actually, it might be inspired by the book - I was thinking of the film. Can't remember off the top of my head. Now I am really off for the night!
