Continuing the previous thread - people's sexuality varies hugely and what some people think is disgusting is good fun for others. It's impossible to generalise and say XYZ practice is wrong or repugnant and I agree with the posts at the end of the other thread that porn often just reflects what people do. Obviously you pick where your own interests lie and are glad human beings are diverse.

MT, thanks for the comprehensive reply and the book suggestion.
I personally have no doubt that the majority of men are
not excited by rape but I did not realise studies proving this existed.
Bedtime reading for Elisabetth.

Let me reiterate the main point here:
The op has no idea what she is talking about
because she physically cannot watch porn.
Not snuff porn or hate porn but bogstandard pornography.

And are you really suggesting that if you, the op or another
Mumsnetter actually had a quick look at the porn we are discussing
you would instantly become addicted?

Or is that another statement that you didn't really make?
What did you mean by your comparison between adult porn
and child abuse anyway?
Fine, I apparently misunderstood you but what was your point?

Monkeytrousers · 17/11/2007 13:58

In some

kittock · 17/11/2007 13:59

What cultures Monkey Trousers?

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 13:59

How sexist can I be? First off I don't think you know the meaning of the word by the way you are using it there. Secondly if sexism really offends you then why on earth aren't you turning your criticism at the pornographers who traffic in just about the worst misogyny possible?

Here's one of the worst ones. Once again he's extremely popular (although the US authorities are after him now) but in his heyday he was reaching the top of the porn charts regularly. Max Hardcore (v. disturbing) -

Then we need to educate those cultures MT, not condemn the one where female orgasms are encouraged.

Walnutshell · 17/11/2007 14:02

Those in defence of porn are relating all comments to their own experiences and are therefore obviously offended by any suggestion that they are indulging in something deviant but in doing so are choosing not to see the whole picture.

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 14:02

"And if that's supposed to be an empowering thought then the situation is even more dire than I imagined. How depressing."

It's funny how men don't put themselves through university doing the same thing isn't it, Walnutshell?

And why is it always man-pleasing things like stripping or lap-dancing or porn that get called empowering? You never hear it about other occupations that women go into.

mamazon · 17/11/2007 14:02

they are PORN ACTRESSES, the very word ACT means to pretend, to immitate, to give the impression of someone having a jolly good time in teh sack.

why is that degrading?

Judy1234 · 17/11/2007 14:02

MT, may be because of female genital mutilation. I think about 100 million women alive today have had it done.

Nobody answered my questions apart from MonkeyTrousers.

Who here has seen Deep Throat?

Who here has seen Animal Farm?

DaddyJ · 17/11/2007 14:04

I have only read Animal Farm.

Have you had a look at Bangbros yet?

Judy1234 · 17/11/2007 14:04

Just paste the questions again please (very long thead to look back).

OP posts:
Walnutshell · 17/11/2007 14:05

Well why would they do something as foolish as lap dancing, E? It might ruin their chances of a job in the city ...

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 14:05

Have you seen Deep Throat DaddyJ?

I told you I can't look at BangBros because it would disturb me too much. But I gave you the info about Bang Bus and the scenarios they use and a woman who was sexually abused by them so I don't know why you keep going on about it.

mamazon · 17/11/2007 14:06

for someone so disgusted by the porn industry and who feels it is so degrading you watch an awfull lot of it elizabeth.

i think i have seen Deep Throat. i have seen some small amounts of animal farm but its not something i wouidl find sexualy gratifying so would not feel necessary to watch furtehr

DrNortherner · 17/11/2007 14:08

It's funny how men don't put themselves through university doing the same thing isn't it, Walnutshell?

Well there is no market for male pole dancing because women generlly aren't stupid enough to pay £30 to see a man twizel around a pole with is dick out.

If men are foolish enough to pay then let them.

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 14:08

How do you feel about having watched a film of a woman being raped mamazon?

As for watching even bits of bestiality, well words fail me. Didn't you want to destroy the tape? I couldn't bear to see that done to another woman.

Walnutshell · 17/11/2007 14:08

In a world developed, exploited and almost exclusively politically controlled by men, it confounds me that all of a sudden porn is cast as an activity in which women are in control. In that case, we should all look to the porn industry when developing our EO policies. Ahem.

ZebedeesGhost · 17/11/2007 14:08

"tho i'm sure they don't actually turn them down if they've got that far"

In one night stand terms, a woman who is shaven is more representative of someone who looks after themselves in that department. Like a man shaving his face. There are also different styles much like hair-dressing. The Virgin-V for instance...

And i did refuse sex once with someone who was unshaven in that area because she smelt pretty bad. That's not to say all women who are unshaven smell of course!

I personally have no preference as long as it is clean and looked after. ;-)

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 14:10

"for someone so disgusted by the porn industry and who feels it is so degrading you watch an awfull lot of it elizabeth."

Missed this. I can't win can I? Either I'm accused of not knowing what I'm talking about or I'm accused of being a pornhound ( and how could that be a bad thing when you all think it's so great).

I've seen porn I refuse to look at it now because I don't want to see women being prostituted and abused.

Walnutshell · 17/11/2007 14:10

"If men are foolish enough to pay then let them."

Again I try to make the point,DrN, that this would be relevant in a context of an equal society. But this is not the case. Please at least admit that there is a difference in how the sexuality of men and of women is portrayed and perceived.

jofeb04 · 17/11/2007 14:11

But not all women in the industry are being prostituted or abused.

kittock · 17/11/2007 14:11

I've seen Deep Throat - was some time ago. Please don't shoot me porn police! What's the question?

Like Daddyj i've only read Animal Farm. I think I can imagine the film though.

Elizabetth · 17/11/2007 14:11

Being disgusted at women's vaginas is a sign of misogyny. It's actually amazing how many men who watch porn who find women's genitals disgusting.

Walnutshell · 17/11/2007 14:12

Facial and pubic shaving, Zeb, it's different, it really is.
