I think that we all try to be reasonable and non judgemental. However, I do think we can be labelling and bias at times. I was just discussing in private, with dh , my own pet peeve. He was quite taken aback .. he never judges , is mostly fair . Its made me wonder if many of us have quiet little unreasonable ( and are aware of ) thoughts and judgements .. ?! Meant to be light hearted.😂

People who misuse myself and yourself. Currently rife in call centres. I instantly judge and can barely manage to be polite enough to finish the conversation amiably. I'll have to call again as whatever they claimed to have done/ fixed/ ordered I am predisposed to not trust them to have done what they claim, because they are clearly idiots. I make this judgement in the full knowledge that I can belatedly spell and am unsure of the difference between colon and semi colon1 ie- I am no higher paragon of spelling and grammar , and have no place upon this high horse

newnortherner111 · 13/05/2021 20:34

I judge people who like bad karaoke. Westlife, Atomic Kitten, Little Mix, One Direction, to give examples.

SarahBellam · 13/05/2021 20:35

I judge people who judge other people for really stupid reasons that have zero impact on their lives. Oh the irony.

Tiddleypoms · 13/05/2021 20:35

I dont want to say this .. but i judge the family of dc who play out outside our house on a main road and not in their large garden . I judge in my cross mind .. on the days that am grumpy .. that they send the kids to play outside others houses .. and not their own as they want quiet.
They mow all the grass up with the scooters and when its wet it gets damaged . On non judgemental days it does not bother me at all . ( until I see the half open curtians and them I get all judge pants )

I judge people who have oversized filler lips unfairly. I just assume they will be a bit thick and obsessed with their looks because I don't understand why someone with decent self awareness would want to look like that and go through the cost and probable pain of it.

But I am trying to accept that aesthetic appeal can change and that this is a "look" that both women and men, mostly younger than me, actually like and has become mainstream.

Catlover77 · 13/05/2021 20:36

@OwlBeThere

BiasED. you have a bias, you are biased. That’s my pet peeve and I judge people who say it incorrectly.

MishMashMummy · 13/05/2021 20:36

I judge people who have flat faced dog breeds - pugs, frenchies etc. But very quietly, because my best friend has a pug 😬

Tiddleypoms · 13/05/2021 20:38

I judge earings on babies . I Try hard not to . I FAIL.

It is a relief to be able to admit these things . It can get tiresome having to be non jugemental and hip all the time 😀

I judge people who judge other people for really stupid reasons that have zero impact on their lives. Oh the irony.
And me.

I also wonder how anyone has the energy to be so nitpicky and judgemental, as I can barely cope with my own life, let alone spend time eyeing up other people's.

Curiosity101 · 13/05/2021 20:46

Our workplace has been doing a lot of training recently on bias, particularly unconscious bias. There's a common phrase on all of the learning material: "If you have a brain you have bias".

We all have it and we all use it to aid our decision making/judgement calls. Some of it will always be unconscious.

Tabitha005 · 13/05/2021 20:49

@askingrandomsonlinemighthelp

The way protesters dress (e.g. Extinction Rebellion). I usually agree with them. I'm a vegan, leftie, rad fem. But, the way they dress with their cheesecloth layers and green dreadlocks and bells on their toes and mooncup earrings means nobody will listen to them. Say what you have to say without setting up meditation tents and dancing around with tin whistles and rollies. Take your nose ring out, you're on the fucking telly! You don't look like you're talking any sense. You look like you believe in crystals and fairy folk. Nobody will listen to you. It's a pity it's like that, but it IS, so dress the part and leave the dreamcatchers at home for the weekend.
I LOVE this! Bang on the money as far as I'm concerned - and I'm a rad fem leftie, too.
tinseloatcake · 13/05/2021 20:50

Not wanting to be a total twat but this is not an unconscious bias.

That is when you treat people less fairly without realising. Eg in filtering job applications or chairing a meeting.

This is just judging people.

1Morewineplease · 13/05/2021 20:51

Yes , I'm judgmental.
Why carve the scars on your skin , in permanent ink, forever, that look exactly the same as everyone else's scar.
And yes, they all look the same, not at all individual.
Can't stand seeing those poor pooches with bashed in faces who have been badly bred and many can't even give birth without forced Caesarian sections.

Parents who feel that every day should be a learning day. Eg tuba Monday. Gymnastics Tuesday, swimming Wednesday, Cubs/rainbows etc... Thursday, ballet/judo Friday/ choir Saturday and cross country running plus extra tuba on Sunday. That sounds jokey and excessive but I knew a child who led this dire existence and the child hated all of it but mummy and daddy knew best.

Tabitha005 · 13/05/2021 20:51

Sellers on eBay whose houses look dirty and unkempt in the photos - I judge them, big time. I also seethe with annoyance at lazy sellers on eBay who can't be arsed to properly photograph the thing they're attempting to flog, thus:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193602974653?hash=item2d13a2f3bd%3Ag%3ANn8AAOSwQrNfIrFp&LH_ItemCondition=2500%7C3000%7C1500

I mean, WTF is actually being offered here? Is the empty juice bottle included? Grrrr.....

Tiddleypoms · 13/05/2021 20:53

Curiosity101
Too right. We all carry these things. Better to be aware and educated about them . Unconcious bias is an important factor as it can affect professional practice.
I had a student with me one day , who said quite piously , ' oh ," I don't judge".
Oh yes you do and you need to be aware that you do , thats the thing as you can then check it .

Yes loads....people chewing gum being one of them 🤣

Morgan12 · 13/05/2021 20:55

I judge people with dirty homes. It really doesn't take long to clean.

I once went to a party and the host hadn't done the dishes for a few days. There were plates in the kitchen with old food on them still.

I also judge people who wear head to toe football team clothes. And then dress their child in the same. A football top is fine when watching a match or attending a game but a top with matching tracksuit bottoms and socks and cap when going to Tesco is just ridiculous.

andivfmakes3 · 13/05/2021 20:55

Agree with @UhtredRagnarson on the Neveah one

I'd include anyone miss spelling their child's name to be honest

ViciousJackdaw · 13/05/2021 20:55

People who vote for a certain political party
People who buy and/or read two particular newspapers
People who smoke when accompanied by DC
People who are reckless/irresponsible when it comes to having DC
People who stay with a partner on a financial basis but then go on to denigrate sex workers (at least the SW are honest about it)

I judge them all.

SharpLily · 13/05/2021 20:57

@majesticallyawkward

I'm super judgey, so many things irritate me it drives my dh crazy! People who say hollibobs, famalam, fillum and the like People who use your/you're, they're/there/their, seen/seeing, been/being incorrectly Anyone out in public in PJs Anyone using or saying 'making memories' or any other twee bullshit Gin/wine lover accessories 'Eee I'm mad me' will automatically make me assume you are lacking in any personality An adult who can't make a phone call Using speakerphone instead of just holding the phone to your ear or using headphones when in public Reality TV, anyone who has been on it or watches it (with the exception of the great American bbq showdown, nailed it and the GB sewing bee) Kids named utterly shit names like Nahveah MLM involvement in anyway Parent who dress their dc in overly frilly/spanish clothes, more points deducted for frilly pram liners with the name embroidered
Oooof! I think you're me! Although I could add loads to that list Grin.

'Hubby'. Even worse, 'hubster'. Yes, I judge those people.

noirchatsdeux · 13/05/2021 20:57

People who don't open their curtains - that one gets my goat too! My next door neighbour has had the curtains closed in both his bedroom and living room from the day he moved in, about 18 months ago. I honestly don't know how he stands it!

People who say I could care less...it's I COULDN'T CARE LESS, FFS!

People who like dogs

People who eat in the street...also had it drummed into me as a child that you don't. Still struggle with it now.

Tiddleypoms · 13/05/2021 20:59
