I think that we all try to be reasonable and non judgemental. However, I do think we can be labelling and bias at times. I was just discussing in private,with dh , my own pet peeve. He was quite taken aback .. he never judges , is mostly fair . Its made me wonder if many of us have quiet little unreasonable ( and are aware of ) thoughts and judgements .. ?! Meant to be light hearted.😂

@Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin but didn’t she say names that were named after places and she had a child called India or something ? 🤣🤣

mainsfed · 13/05/2021 22:26
@mainsfed - sure, languages evolve, doesn't stop it being incorrect usage though.

I wondered how long it would take for this thread to veer off from the lighthearted tone - it's simply one of my bugbears, doesn't have to be anyone else's!
Even though my bugbear could be SPAG pedants? Grin

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 13/05/2021 22:27

@Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin

People who give their kids stupid names thinking they are original. I know Katie Hopkins got slated for saying that but l thought she had a point.
Totally agree!
TaraR2020 · 13/05/2021 22:28

@mainsfed
Fair enough, makes me a hypocrite too because I can't stand them either but I still stand by my dislike for revert instead of reply! Grin

TaraR2020 · 13/05/2021 22:29

(Honestly thought the one place I'd get sympathy for it is MN!)

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 13/05/2021 22:30

@Bringminimoons

Might be jumped on for mine 😂😂

I judge stay at home mums ( not babies but older kids ) I don’t mean to and it’s both those with working husbands and single mums. I don’t believe single mums on benefits are doing anything different to those with husbands that work. I just can’t phantom having kids at school etc and not wanting to contribute to life.

What if the partner makes an absolute fortune though and the stay at home parent really wouldn't? Surely being there to pick the kids up has its benefits, so why not in these circumstances?
Bringminimoons · 13/05/2021 22:33

@Talkwhilstyouwalk because life happens, I couldn’t imagine never wanted to find something myself. As I said get the younger years but most people I know don’t have millionaire husbands so can’t really answer that point.

wildeverose · 13/05/2021 22:34

@majesticallyawkward

I'm super judgey, so many things irritate me it drives my dh crazy! People who say hollibobs, famalam, fillum and the like People who use your/you're, they're/there/their, seen/seeing, been/being incorrectly Anyone out in public in PJs Anyone using or saying 'making memories' or any other twee bullshit Gin/wine lover accessories 'Eee I'm mad me' will automatically make me assume you are lacking in any personality An adult who can't make a phone call Using speakerphone instead of just holding the phone to your ear or using headphones when in public Reality TV, anyone who has been on it or watches it (with the exception of the great American bbq showdown, nailed it and the GB sewing bee) Kids named utterly shit names like Nahveah MLM involvement in anyway Parent who dress their dc in overly frilly/spanish clothes, more points deducted for frilly pram liners with the name embroidered
I believe very strongly, that you are my soulmate.
waterlego · 13/05/2021 22:35

What if the SAHM in question has an income they don’t have to work for? eg through property ownership?

KEA321 · 13/05/2021 22:36

Bad spelling and grammar. I only correct my daughter, but I am judging everyone else (typos overlooked).

wildeverose · 13/05/2021 22:38

People who have "mum" or "dad" tattoos.
Babies with pierced ears.
People who say draws instead of drawers, or worse, Chester drawers.

emmylousings · 13/05/2021 22:39

Totally agree about Extinction Rebellion 'look', I was raised by a couple of crusty activists, and I was always telling them they would do better if they smartened themselves up a bit!

DisgruntledPelican · 13/05/2021 22:40

@askingrandomsonlinemighthelp

The way protesters dress (e.g. Extinction Rebellion). I usually agree with them. I'm a vegan, leftie, rad fem. But, the way they dress with their cheesecloth layers and green dreadlocks and bells on their toes and mooncup earrings means nobody will listen to them. Say what you have to say without setting up meditation tents and dancing around with tin whistles and rollies. Take your nose ring out, you're on the fucking telly! You don't look like you're talking any sense. You look like you believe in crystals and fairy folk. Nobody will listen to you. It's a pity it's like that, but it IS, so dress the part and leave the dreamcatchers at home for the weekend.
😂

Do you notice much of a difference between the pronunciation of "drawers" vs "draws"?
dottiedaisee · 13/05/2021 22:43

Babies with earrings and those awful headband with bows! Absolutely makes me cringe .

Lalliella · 13/05/2021 22:46

I judge people who say they don’t judge people. Because what they’re really saying is that they judge people who judge. Which makes them judgy themselves Grin

Sickoffamilydrama · 13/05/2021 22:47

@UhtredRagnarson

people who dont open their curtains. Or half open them at strange angles

Yes!! Hate this. And people who don’t open windows. Yuck.

Don't go past our house we moved into it a month ago the Roman blinds are fucked in our bedroom and we won't be able to replace them for a few months so wonky held together with safety pins blinds it is.

Luckily our bedroom backs onto a hedge with a footpath behind so no one can really see it!

God, I've only just realised that I also think this to some extent when I see them. I just wonder when they're going to start talking about flat earth and leprechauns.

Ninefeettall · 13/05/2021 22:53

I'm quite intolerant of food intolerances.

Not allergies. Not people with coeliac disease or genuine conditions related to food.

But the other (approximately) 11 bajillionty people who are so damn 'speshul' that they (or their children) are apparently intolerant to a whole long list of things that they just made up . And they talk about it all the time because they think it makes them very interesting. In fact anyone that witters on about what food they eat is fucking tedious (hard stare at most vegans).

I also think group 2 make people take group 1 less seriously which must be very frustrating and worrying for group 1.

Shinyandnew5708 · 13/05/2021 23:04

People who get paid really well to sell their soul to the devil (eg medical sales reps, oil company executives, hedge fund managers etc). I judge them.

Also people who buy expensive pedigrees, or even worse, breed pedigrees.

I judge people who drive wanky cars too.

And women who don’t use ‘Ms’.

Also judge women who marry rich, vile, ugly, arrogant men.

And men wearing pink or red trousers.

Would never admit to any of this in RL.

Also people who actively choose to live in Surrey.

Tiddleypoms · 13/05/2021 23:11

Shinyandnew5708
Its great to be able to say these things sometimes .. even if one cannot in rl.!!!!!

Table manners. I massively judge people who don’t use their knife and fork correctly... don’t wait for everyone to be seated .... elbows on tables whilst eating. Clearly they were dragged up in a field and I am superior 🤣

Bringminimoons · 13/05/2021 23:14

Haha @Shinyandnew5708 I currently love London / Surrey depending on who you ask 🤣 and about to move to a defo Surrey spot !

HahaAreyouSerious · 13/05/2021 23:14

I judge mumsnet as a whole because it a self hating, woman hating, incessantly nasty and drama filled website that's dressed up as a support network when it's actually the opposite.
The women on here do far more damage to each other on a daily basis than the men society complains about because none of you can ever win, and you'll never let anybody be conceived as better than you

It/you deserve the reputation.
