I think that we all try to be reasonable and non judgemental. However, I do think we can be labelling and bias at times. I was just discussing in private, with dh , my own pet peeve. He was quite taken aback .. he never judges , is mostly fair . Its made me wonder if many of us have quiet little unreasonable ( and are aware of ) thoughts and judgements .. ?! Meant to be light hearted.😂

People who own bull breeds like staffies, pitbulls or crosses of the two (or worse breed them). Just let the breed die out naturally like the sport it was bred for. And yes I include Frenchies with their squashed faces and anatomy problems. Even worse people who let bull breeds off the lead in public!

People who astroturf or pave over their gardens, destroying natural vegetation, hedges and wildlife habitats just for a square of green plastic they don’t have to weed. I assume they’re not very bright if they don’t know/care about the environmental impact of this. And the drainage issues it causes.

Trampolines in gardens or raised decking or anything that ruins your neighbours privacy.

People with greasy hair or dandruff or BO. At least wash before going out in public.

People who feed foxes and other vermin 🤢

Part time colleagues who only EVER swap their working days to suit themselves and refuse to cover/help the team eg ‘I never work Mondays as I like my long weekend... oh but I’ll work Monday instead of Wednesday next week because I’ve got an event and I don’t want to use my precious annual leave’! Then they refuse to work another Monday for 6 months even when the team’s short staffed or on its knees. So selfish.

People who clock up time in lieu from home when they’ve chosen to work from home that day and chose to do 4 hours unnecessary overtime!

Grilledaubergines · 14/05/2021 19:11

People who wear, or dress their children in, football kit, when they’re neither playing football or spectating.

Puffalicious · 14/05/2021 19:13

Joonio the incidence on selling sites etc where people refer to a set of drawers as a set of draws, or a chest of drawers to Chester draws (the capital makes me laugh, as if all drawers come from Chester).

A PP said drawers/ draws sounds the same: it doesn't in my accent at all.

Joonio · 14/05/2021 19:57

Its just wrong. Do these people not read?

Joonio · 14/05/2021 19:58

People who talk about putting their elderly or disabled family into rest bite

Iamtheweedonkey · 14/05/2021 20:07

As I've got older, I must admit I am less tolerant.
I cannot stand eating in public, again this was deemed as rude behaviour by my mum. It has affected me though, asides from my family I really dislike eating in front of people.

I judge the beer swillers who sit on the bench all day long outside the shops, who snort coke in between cans behind my garden, and annoy the piss out of me begging for money, when they have a fuckin house!

Puffalicious · 14/05/2021 20:18

Apparently not carefully enough. It's not just the odd person either, it's everywhere.
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/05/2021 20:22

Joonio, I know what you mean, but having spent years visiting a forum for carers of people with dementia (DM and FiL both had it), and having seen ‘rest bite’ many times, even a grumpy old pedant like me could begin to see some logic to it.
The poor things were desperate for a ‘bite’ of rest.

AlexaNeverListens · 14/05/2021 20:28

I judge the people who live around me who have forgotten that there are colours other than grey.

Bringminimoons · 14/05/2021 20:42

@Joonio the family member I put in to respite is my 8 year old daughter who attends hospice one weekend a month for respite what else do you suggest people do?

Monkeyrules · 14/05/2021 20:42

I hate it when people leave a dob of wee in the middle of the toilet seat. What is the point? They've managed to leave the rest of it clean and flush the toilet correctly so why stop there?

Unfortunately the perpetrator is often long gone so I can't judge them 😊

bluebluezoo · 14/05/2021 20:45

I think the point was they put the family member into “rest bite” rather than using the actual using respite facility. Flowers

People who completely overvalue the possessions they want to flog on selling sites/marketplace

E.g. Bugaboo cameleon buggy in good used condition. Paid over £1000 new, selling for £800.

If I can afford £800 to buy your (probably well used) buggy, why on earth would I not just splash out a little bit more for a shiny new one.

I also judge people selling things like an old pair of scissors for 50p because they clearly don't value their time, maybe that's a bit harsh of me.....

MintyMabel

I’m sure many don’t judge others eating a sausage roll in public most are too busy doing their own thing but there are far more emotive issues. Few will not judge a parent/s leaving their young child who comes to harm because they wanted to go out or those that chose to drink and drive because they are believe they can handle their drink. Many people make stupid decisions because they are selfish not many do not judge actions based on selfishness

And yes I do remember the line I don’t see colour often being trotted out on here. Unconscious bias was not something that as many were aware of and also something many wanted to completely deny

I remember the very heated discussions after the TV program How Racist Are You (based on the blue eyes brown eyes experiment) was insulting to many on here. I think many will have changed their mind since then

But some still need to tell others how superior they are they never judge and they have never been negatively influenced by all the negativity or stereotyping they have been fed

I can honestly say I have never judged anyone on the fact they have tattoos or they have given their kids Greggs or what sort of dog they own? Or that they don't open their pissing curtains. MN is full of bile
Bettyisboring · 14/05/2021 23:05

I assume people who call foxes ‘vermin’ are not very bright.

OhWhyNot · 14/05/2021 23:13

I don’t recall saying that anyone had. But more emotive issues

Yes it’s ridiculous and quite spiteful at times

Countrycode · 15/05/2021 08:05

Women who won't even try to breastfeed their babies simply because they "don't want to". I hate that I do this, as I'm usually so supportive of other women and their choices but for some reason I instantly judge them on this and quite harshly (internally obviously).

BeneathYourWisdom · 15/05/2021 08:40

I assume people who call foxes ‘vermin’ are not very bright

Um foxes spread all kinds of diseases and parasites... should I list them? Many of those diseases can be transmitted to humans and domestic pets. Try Googling them?

And thanks to people feeding them they venture further into urban areas, ripping into bins, strolling through gardens, losing their fear of people. What could possibly go wrong?

Fox poo is a health hazard and utterly disgusting if your dog rolls in it/child steps in it, I assume this hasn’t happened to you if you support feeding them?

With no predator above them in the food chain, and people feeding them because they look cute, no wonder the fox population exploded and sarcoptic mange with it.

Most pest control services in the U.K. offer a fox control service. If they weren’t vermin why would pest control be allowed to cull them? Foxes are not only a health risk they chew wires and cables, dig up plants and attack cats and small dogs. Pest control are legalised to shoot (or trap then euthanise) foxes in the U.K. That normally involves lamping them at night. Costly but effective.

Farmers are also permitted to shoot foxes or cull them. Even using a bird of prey (bit odd that one I agree) and they’re allowed to use a small number of dogs to flush out foxes so they can shoot them. Foxes kill newborn lambs, poultry, cause damage to livelihoods.

So yes they are widely regarded as vermin.

I’m the opposite! I want to applaud women who just say they didn’t want to. Their body, their choice.

What I do judge is those who force me to listen to their long tales justifying why they didn’t or couldn’t breastfeed. Especially when it’s clear they never got any proper advice but think they’re and expert and start telling me “everyone knows you can’t bf a 9lb baby”, or saying that the baby wasn’t going 4 hours between feeds/all night at a week old so is “clearly starving”. Or worse, telling the mum bf the newborn in the next bed they need to bottle feed as the baby is crying so obviously she has no milk (actual scenarios).

Stuff like that just perpetuates false information about bf behaviour.

Just a simple i didn’t want to, or it didn’t work for me is more than fine. In fact far better as now i’m not thinking maybe I’m starving my baby as she’s cluster feeding at night and maybe she she should be going 4 hours like this lady is saying so authoritatively.
