I think that we all try to be reasonable and non judgemental. However, I do think we can be labelling and bias at times. I was just discussing in private, with dh , my own pet peeve. He was quite taken aback .. he never judges , is mostly fair . Its made me wonder if many of us have quiet little unreasonable ( and are aware of ) thoughts and judgements .. ?! Meant to be light hearted.😂

@BrownEyedGirl80

People who swear at their children in public.People who smoke whilst pushing a pushchair or pram
I can unfortunately "beat" that: my neighbour (posted about elsewhere) shouted yesterday "stop it, you *ing r*d!"- to her 8-month foetus.

As posted elsewhere, I have been trying to be supportive to her (not totally MN approved) - but I struggle enormously when I hear that.

@ MrsNewtS:
“People (DH) who start breaking BEFORE they indicate. The whole point of the indicators is to warn people you are about to perform a manoeuvre that will likely involve breaking.
People who can’t spell (especially their/they’re/there, tho, chester draws).”

It’s brake not break.

Jacopo · 14/05/2021 14:59

I judge people who hold their knife like a pen. I know this is unreasonable of me as it does not directly affect me in any way. I can only assume that the irrational rage it provokes is the result of being taught certain table manners at a very young age. In general I can put up with all sorts of irritations that annoy other people on this thread.
I judge spelling and grammar too, but I think that’s a lost cause because children are being taught by teachers who can’t spell themselves. Grammar has been a lost cause for at least thirty years

Here is the full stop which should have concluded my post above:

How embarrassing for you, @MrsNewtS

What an absolutely vile thread this has turned into..fucking hell

Mamamamasaurus · 14/05/2021 15:38

Trampolines in front gardens. Earrings on babies. White jeans / trousers, I hate them with a fucking passion but have no grounds for it.

I'll think of more but that's all for now.

MiaMarshmallows · 14/05/2021 15:45

Anyone else feeling paranoid?Hmm

IceSwallowCome · 14/05/2021 16:44

I have a bias against people who use these threads as an excuse vent their shitty, bigoted opinions under the guise of "I'm only being honest!!"

IceSwallowCome · 14/05/2021 16:44

excuse to vent*

MindtheBelleek · 14/05/2021 16:51

Trampolines in front gardens

This I don't understand, and more than one person has said it. And the kind of posters who've said this seem to be equating it with earrings on babies, so I will assume it has some form of class connotation?

Bringminimoons · 14/05/2021 16:56

I have found this thread funny 🤣 so far things I fall in to

I actively choose to live in Surrey and I eat greggs sausage rolls in public !

Spot on
79Fleur · 14/05/2021 17:31

I silently judge people who have hot tubs in small gardens.
But then I do have an irrational hatred of hot tubs outside of a spa setting.

motherloaded · 14/05/2021 17:50

No need to take it personally if you recognise something you are being judged for Grin

You have your own unreasonable bias, it's human. Who cares what strangers thing?

motherloaded · 14/05/2021 17:56

*think

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 14/05/2021 17:57

I absolutely have judgements where I even find myself thinking “this is the wrong way of thinking”

I’m the type of person that likes to be on everyone team, I like to imagine walking in other peoples shoes and going from there. But of course no one is perfect, opinions will always differ from others in some areas of life. We’re not robots, we thinking and behave differently from each other and that is fine.

But there’s a time and place to say some things, and never the time or place to say others.

motherloaded · 14/05/2021 18:02

Honestly, if you think you might be judged about something and it's bothering you, stay away from threads like this, it's not difficult.

It's entertaining to see if someone judges something you are "guilty" of - and even if they do... why would you actually care? You are probably judging them for doing exactly the opposite!

24GinDrinkingOnceTheKidsInBed · 14/05/2021 18:07

For me; and I’m a ex-smoker (quit when conceived DD)

I fully judge when I see a mother pushing a pram with a fag in her hand. Unreasonable of me as I’ve been a smoker, and I’m a mother. But the aspect of smoking that close to your kids makes my judge pants go on too.

Puffalicious · 14/05/2021 18:39

For the OP who said there's no difference in pronunciation between drawers and draws: there is most definitely a difference in my accent.
I judge those who presume every one is from bloody middle England Hmm

Speaking as a fully paid-up grumpy old hag, , people who write gonna, kinda, sorta, etc.
Ditto who start a post with, ‘So, myself and dp/whoever...’

People who write pack lunch, mince beef, mash potato.
It’s packED, minceD, mashED, FGS.
‘Mash’ on its own is permitted, though.

Anyone saying/writing, ‘Pretty please’. Makes them sound like a particularly girly 3 year old in a frilly pink dress.
