Is there something you want but just can’t bear to buy?

I’ve posted before about how I am a self confessed shopping addict. I’ve put myself on a semi ban, and I’m allowed to buy necessities for myself or replace makeup items that have ran out but I am not to buy things just because I want them. I have saved almost £1000 in a month, which is frightening! The big “f**k it” purchases (maybe £300) combined with impulsively buying makeup, a new top here and there, chocolate, extra luxuries in grocery shop REALLY mounted up. So last night (I had been drinking) I ALMOST fell into the trap and bought myself a very expensive pair of trainers. I didn’t give in and I still haven’t. The guilt of spoiling how well I’ve done and how much I’ve saved would stop me even enjoying them. I’ll just stick to admiring them from afar. Are there any items you lust after, and technically could afford, but just can’t justify buying?

@bevelino
Yeah, still can’t do it - even with 20% off. A little voice says that we do spend 1/3 of our life in bed.......

sansou · 11/05/2021 22:14

Well, the 20% off the Vi-spring is finished. Temptation is definitely over!

@CaveMum. Have a look at style doctors online x

@Daisy829

Yay *@MagicSummer*! What did you get? I’ve got a mini Windsor & it’s lush. They come so well packaged too. It’s a slippery slope though I’m afraid. The shoes are very comfortable too.
@Daisy829 - I got the Windsor in Tan. It is beautiful and so well made; however I am wondering whether the mini might be more practical for me so might exchange. I am so glad I found this Company! I also love the Hemsby driving shoe in turquoise - a bit bright I know, but I love turquoise. They aren't in stock at the moment so will try again in a couple of weeks.

For me it'd be a nose job. I do actually have enough in savings, but I'd be too scared of the risks when it's an unnecessary procedure, and people I know thinking I'm vain. I have excess cartilage in my nose - have had (internally) a deviated septum corrected - but my nose looks like it's been broken because of the way the cartilage grew.

I know id also be scared that id want to do more, I have big puffy half circles under my eyes (genetic). I'm a right catch!

@sansou. I don’t know if I’m helping or not but I have gone off Vispring mattresses totally! I had one which, after just 3-4 years, had lost all supportiveness and was too soft/collapsed. And it wasn’t cheap!

I have just replaced it with a Hypnos mattress and am hoping this will last longer.

Maria1982 · 12/05/2021 10:27

(Counts back on fingers... okay it was six years, but still! )

inmyslippers · 12/05/2021 11:11

Not everyone wants Botox. I'd never inject poison into my face. It always looks obvious and shit. I know those who have had it will pile on but it really does look ridiculous.

^^ I had tear troughs done and nobody noticed until I told them. Which may sound pointless but I could tell the difference

Lookingoutside · 12/05/2021 11:49

Botox absolutely does not always look obvious and shit. Have a google?

JustFrustrated · 12/05/2021 12:02

I've done it. Haha I had two things I always wanted, like...well one for 15 years and one for about 5. So over lockdown I saved up, and then two months ago did it.

And honesty? That 5k was tje best value for money ever. It was selfish , and yes it could have paid for a nice holiday for me and the family. but I put me first for a change.

And now I'm saving that 1k a month for the family.

Sooo that means now I'm having to abstain from the smaller but still crave able purchases. E.g. the watch I want...nope DH gets his first now.

JustFrustrated · 12/05/2021 12:07

@LovelyIssues

You can ask for a referral to a dermatologist on the NHS. I advise you do. improving poor skin is legitimately life changing.

I did it back to front , paid for a private derm then got my doc to prescribe the creams after I'd run out.

Awww I was really enjoying this thread and then the judgey police come on and ruin it. Who cares if someone wants botox?

I've had a couple of lovely days living vicariously through other people's dream purchases.

@Maria1982 - it says on their website they have a 35 year guarantee - you should contact them!

Daisy829 · 12/05/2021 13:30

@MagicSummer if an items out of stock you can sign up for notifications for when it’s back in. I find the mini windsor a good size for me. I can fit in glasses, make up, hand gel, small purse, keys, mask & phone easily x

Kitchenaid stand mixer
Same here!
Frymetothemoon · 12/05/2021 13:32

A tummy tuck, if I wasn't too scared of the pain!

Agreed. I know as I have it . Some people just like to be spiteful.

This isn't a thread for judging choices.

@whippitwoowoo

Well I’ve just purchased the Vita liberata beauty blur skin tone optimizer thanks to a PP on here. I need something instead of foundation in the warmer Hmm months.
one pump and mix it with moisturiser - otherwise you get a fair old gold sheen on your face, very tin man.. ( I did a couple of unmixed pumps before a work zoom meeting... you could see me from space)
JanuaryJonez · 12/05/2021 17:56

Placemarking for later! Great post!
