AIBU?

Is there something you want but just can’t bear to buy?

I’ve posted before about how I am a self confessed shopping addict. I’ve put myself on a semi ban, and I’m allowed to buy necessities for myself or replace makeup items that have ran out but I am not to buy things just because I want them. I have saved almost £1000 in a month, which is frightening! The big “f**k it” purchases (maybe £300) combined with impulsively buying makeup, a new top here and there, chocolate, extra luxuries in grocery shop REALLY mounted up. So last night (I had been drinking) I ALMOST fell into the trap and bought myself a very expensive pair of trainers. I didn’t give in and I still haven’t. The guilt of spoiling how well I’ve done and how much I’ve saved would stop me even enjoying them. I’ll just stick to admiring them from afar. Are there any items you lust after, and technically could afford, but just can’t justify buying?

Dubarry boots.

I've actually saved up money for them but just can't bring myself to actually pay that much for a pair of boots. Seems like such a luxury.

Botox 😂 Not a lot, but I have a deep (to me!) line between my brows (I squint a lot), it's all I see in photos.

I was going to gift myself for my 30th... but y'know, covid. Then I spent the money I'd saved on an extortionate yoga mat I'd had my eye on (£70, used it every day since, was worth it!), a new bike (haven't used that as much tbh).

I've done several of these things posted here
Always to make myself happy - feel better - some of it has been disastrous
Liked a beautiful Karen Millen jacket and as I admired it this bitch sales assistant said oh that only goes up to a 10 ( I'm a fat 12) so I took it in the changing room came out and said fab it's perfect ! Never been worn once , if I did I'd rip the shoulders lol
Also spent 350 quid on a bag that I'm scared to take outside in case it gets dirty/ marked/ ruined
Also bought an 800 quid ring that I have worn twice
And some 190 quid timberlands that make me look like a lumberjack ... also never been out the house ... I could go on ..

A tricycle. For me. I have money from my birthday to spend 'on myself' but everytime I think about it I just think of all the groceries I could buy instead. When did my life get so dull?!

I see someone has already mentioned my lustful thing... Dubarry boots.

I'd also add, two implant teeth so I can smile widely again.
Botox and/or fillers so I don't look so fucking miserable.
Bose sleep buds to drown out DH's snoring.

The same as your list, minus the sleep buds/snoring husband, I don’t have one of those to silence 😀

I have been doing way too much shopping online during lockdown. I don’t drink so I can’t even blame the wine! Bought an awesome Rick Owens leather jacket in pale grey suede. A thing of much beauty but I am scared to leave the house in it! I have managed to tone down the shoe and bag buying though as I have rarely left the house for a year so can’t justify them…hasn’t totally stopped me tbh Wink

I have been saving for eyelid surgery as I have one droopy eyelid, wouldn’t bother me if it was both as at least it would be equal. I now have the money but it just feels wrong to spend the money on it so am making do with eyelid stickers to stop my face looking like I have had a stroke. I’d also like a dyson air wrap

I really want an iPhone 12 in purple, I can easily afford it but there’s nothing wrong with my current phone and I just can’t justify it😟

New flooring for the living room.
I just can't bear to spend ££ for people to literally just walk all over it.

So many things. I always give in and buy a cheaper version, I'm terrible at treating myself.
I really want a Dyson Airwrap.

Water filter for the house, a couple of grand I think....
Teeth whitening but that's because I don't fancy the actual procedure not because I begrudge spending the money. Maybe I'll go ahead one day...
A piece of artwork that's several hundred quid.

I've long had the attitude of only buying what I need or really love not just what catches my eye. If I'm considering a big ish purchase I'll think about it for a few weeks usually. It's done me well especially throughout lockdown when I've not been out 'browsing' anywhere at all.

I’m currently debating whether I can bring myself to my a Chanel bag. It’s so expensive but the prices just kept going up

Have you ever thought about getting a second hand one from an auction? Chiswick Auction house in London do great designer bag sales.

Sweaty Betty leggings. I hear how amazing they are and I run a lot so would definitely get my money’s worth. But £75 seems insane amount to wear for an hour and then chuck them in the wash. Can’t quite bring myself to click purchase.

A sodastream. The one with the glass bottles. I keep doing the sums per litre of fizzy water from the shop vs from the sodastream, hoping it comes out different Blush

Fabletics leggings. But I know I'd forget to do the skip a month thing and end up paying a fortune...

I haven’t bought any toiletries since the pandemic started. Have been using the embarrassing large stockpile we had. Must have saved a fortune. Determined not to buy anymore until everything is used up.
