I’ve posted before about how I am a self confessed shopping addict. I’ve put myself on a semi ban, and I’m allowed to buy necessities for myself or replace makeup items that have ran out but I am not to buy things just because I want them. I have saved almost £1000 in a month, which is frightening! The big “f**k it” purchases (maybe £300) combined with impulsively buying makeup, a new top here and there, chocolate, extra luxuries in grocery shop REALLY mounted up. So last night (I had been drinking) I ALMOST fell into the trap and bought myself a very expensive pair of trainers. I didn’t give in and I still haven’t. The guilt of spoiling how well I’ve done and how much I’ve saved would stop me even enjoying them. I’ll just stick to admiring them from afar. Are there any items you lust after, and technically could afford, but just can’t justify buying?

@JeremyIronsBenFolds

I really want some Grenson boots, have the money but just can’t do it. I’m sure they’re lovely quality but I find it really hard to spend £300 on some shoes. And yet last month I bought some Slendertone shorts for the princely sum of £100 and have used them a grand total of once. I really don’t understand myself sometimes...
They are so worth it though Wink

Clarins Double Serum. I cant justify the £60 price tag though.

Last year, just before covid my OH died very suddenly and now I'm in the position of saying What do I do with it all now, it's not fun going places alone!

@JudgeJ Oh bless you! You can go on group trips if travelling alone isn't your thing. But deffo spend some of it on nice things for yourself, it's what he would have wanted! Flowers

DoodleLovin · 10/05/2021 21:18

A pink Smeg kettle... but my 20 euro one works just fine!

merlynred1 · 10/05/2021 21:19

I really want some nice leggings, I keep seeing ones advertised that (supposedly) make your bum and tummy look better but cant be doing with the hassle of finding out they’re lying!
Also some really good self tan for legs, I’ve tried all sorts (cheaper ones) in the past and just want something that stays on for a while and isn’t a faff to apply.
Any tried and proven suggestions would be appreciated, both by myself and the viewing public! Grin

Jo malone
Burts bees
Cashmere
White company

Lots of things!

missbunnyrabbit · 10/05/2021 21:26

I deck my entire house out with Oak Furnitureland stuff. Love it but way too expensive.

missbunnyrabbit · 10/05/2021 21:27

I would deck*

hyperbole001 · 10/05/2021 21:35

I bought a knock off 1970 jumper from eBay. The original is not worth the money. I went off Bella Freud when I found out she gives them free to rich celebrities.

So she does exactly the same thing that most fashion brands do...? Even brands like Dyson send their hairdryers to influencers for free!

Prettypennies · 10/05/2021 21:35

White company pyjamas and cashmere socks

Reformation dress

Vera trainers

New iPad

JudgeJ
I'm terrible at spending money on what I consider to be expensive non-essentials, my OH used to say There's plenty on the bank and we can't take it with us! My attitude I think comes from having very frugal parents, we never wanted for anything but there were few frills.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

£150 dualit toaster and matching &120 kettle. Just can’t do it even though I could afford it and really want them. Worried they won’t live up to the hype and my old toaster still works fine
I can vouch for the kettle. Best I've had (and we've had quite a few as my husband drinks his weight in coffee every day).

Big diamond earrings, tho will settle for white sapphire ones

Confusedandshaken · 10/05/2021 21:59

There is a beautiful Huda eyeshadow palette I would love but it costs £58 and I already have loads of beautiful eyeshadow palettes that I don't use. I was hoping adult DC might club together and buy it for Mother's Day but no such luck.

PomRuns · 10/05/2021 22:12

[quote QueenPaw]This candle. My limit is £50 for candles!

And this perfume because I can't find it in the U.K.

St Eval do candles and reed diffusers with a scent called Inspiritus- it is a truly beautiful scent and maybe it was "inspired" by the Cire Trudon...

Their reed diffusers really work and last for ages. Things cost from just a tenner...

(no I don't work for them just a very happy lockdown discovery)

GeorgiaGirl52 · 10/05/2021 22:25

Another Pomeranian puppy to be a playmate for the one I got (but couldn't really afford) last year.

Don't know about the leggings but this is really good for giving you a nice tanned look without faff.I was dubious but it works. Not cheap but it does seem to last ages (I only use for legs) www.lookfantastic.com/brands/vita-liberata/body-blur-range.list

And this for your face is fab - I mix it with moisturiser as it is a bit glowy but it is one of the few things that was sent as a press freebie that I have bought again and again.

A Shark hoover for animal hair.

Got a Henry with an attachment a couple of years ago and it's crap.

I can't really afford it but could probably just about justify bunging it on the credit card as it would be pretty life changing...I have an enormous fluffy cat.

I really begrudge spending that kind of money on household appliance though. The Henry was bad enough.

Guavafish · 10/05/2021 22:33

Buy then excellent investment I’ve had them for over 10 years. Still amazing

If you are into craft of any description, look away now.

I have been drooling over this for two years now....
