I’ve posted before about how I am a self confessed shopping addict. I’ve put myself on a semi ban, and I’m allowed to buy necessities for myself or replace makeup items that have ran out but I am not to buy things just because I want them. I have saved almost £1000 in a month, which is frightening! The big “f**k it” purchases (maybe £300) combined with impulsively buying makeup, a new top here and there, chocolate, extra luxuries in grocery shop REALLY mounted up. So last night (I had been drinking) I ALMOST fell into the trap and bought myself a very expensive pair of trainers. I didn’t give in and I still haven’t. The guilt of spoiling how well I’ve done and how much I’ve saved would stop me even enjoying them. I’ll just stick to admiring them from afar. Are there any items you lust after, and technically could afford, but just can’t justify buying?

A mulberry. I’ve been saving since I bloody graduated, I have the money put aside, but when push comes to shove I can’t face actually spending it!

LovelyIssues · 10/05/2021 20:13

To see a dermatologist. My skin is holding me back from so much. Not even something I could afford though Sad one day hopefully....

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/05/2021 20:15

@LovelyIssues I saw one free on the nhs. 4 month wait but worth it.

VenusClapTrap · 10/05/2021 20:22

Oh and a Siamese cat. I’ve always wanted one since I was a kid and my grandparents had one, but I’m a passionate believer in ‘adopt don’t shop’, so as long as there are rescues filled with unwanted cats I shall only ever have rescues.

Actually, technically, my grandparents’ Siamese was stolen rather than bought - she belonged to a woman up the road but took umbrage when a dog joined the family, and decided to move in with my grandparents instead.

I’m not sure if a stolen Siamese is more or less ethical than a bought one.

CoRhona · 10/05/2021 20:34

We used to have a Siamese cat, absolutely beautiful creature.

Heatingsystemwoes · 10/05/2021 20:36

1000glitterydicks · 10/05/2021 20:44

Sgtmajormummy · 10/05/2021 20:48

When we have a windfall we buy furniture. Little by little IKEA is leaving our lives.
We’ve agreed that, as a reminder of working from home during lockdown we should buy this to share.www.lefablier.it/it/collezioni/linea_classica/le_mimose/atlas-1882.html
But it won’t be for a while. We can survive perfectly well with an IKEA trestle table and a good Wifi connection.

@SinkGirl

A MacBook Air. I’m struggling on with a crappy old Windows laptop for my business but really could do with a better laptop, but not making enough yet to justify it. I have the money but just feel too guilty to blow a grand on something I can just about manage without.
Buy it before your old one dies and you have to pay a grand to get the files retrieved by a specialist (learn by my expensive mistake!) 👀

I also saw a dermatologist on the NHS . The long wait was definitely worth the result

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 10/05/2021 20:49

@Putitinthebin

Straight teeth. I could technically afford the system that does it but every time I think about it I think of my kids enjoying a holiday instead and think it's utterly selfish of me.
Do it!
ichundich · 10/05/2021 20:50

A Center Parcs holiday. A latest model smartphone.

@jannyapple

I've done several of these things posted here Always to make myself happy - feel better - some of it has been disastrous Liked a beautiful Karen Millen jacket and as I admired it this bitch sales assistant said oh that only goes up to a 10 ( I'm a fat 12) so I took it in the changing room came out and said fab it's perfect ! Never been worn once , if I did I'd rip the shoulders lol Also spent 350 quid on a bag that I'm scared to take outside in case it gets dirty/ marked/ ruined Also bought an 800 quid ring that I have worn twice And some 190 quid timberlands that make me look like a lumberjack ... also never been out the house ... I could go on ..
Sell em on Debop app xx

@ThreeLadsPointingAtAStar

Dubarry boots.

I've actually saved up money for them but just can't bring myself to actually pay that much for a pair of boots. Seems like such a luxury.

Don’t do it, i am now on my second pair, which is now leaking. They are rubbish, they leak and are overpriced!
WorkHardPlayHard1 · 10/05/2021 20:55

@Boulshired

I have been saving for eyelid surgery as I have one droopy eyelid, wouldn’t bother me if it was both as at least it would be equal. I now have the money but it just feels wrong to spend the money on it so am making do with eyelid stickers to stop my face looking like I have had a stroke. I’d also like a dyson air wrap
Get it done it's life changing and only takes 40 minutes!

Oh, my mum lusted after one forever. Finally she made the decision to go for it, tried one on, and hated it. Said it made her look like a sack of spuds tied up too tight in the middle.
masterblaster · 10/05/2021 21:07

An electric Brompton Bike.

They are sooooooooo cool, and one would be ideal for my commute.

3 grand.

LadyPoison · 10/05/2021 21:07

I really want a rolling mill but it’s the best part of £1000. Really can’t justify it at the moment.

May need to drop birthday present hints
