Has anyone ever actually thrown their DP/DH’s clothes out of the upstairs window during a break-up?

AIBU to think this only happens on TV?
Same with cutting crotches out of trousers, cutting up suits and ties, spray painting his car etc...?
Just watched a film where the woman throws everything down from the window upstairs.
Do people do this? I’ve never seen anything like it IRL and wondered if it actually happens. What’s the worst you have seen/done?

When we were young, a woman on our street took her kids away on holiday, and left her partner alone in the house.
When she returned, he had moved another woman in...

She set fire to all his clothes outside the house Grin

Somebody I knew found out their boyfriend was cheating and chucked him out. She then had a lovely big bonfire in the garden of his entire record collection. To be fair he had been sponging off her for years so she had probably paid for most of it! I also heard a story about the wife of a senior member of our local council who had been cheating. His wife stormed into an important council meeting and dumped a bag of his dirty laundry onto the middle of the table!

@Heatingsystemwoes

Oh God! Lots of angry women out there! 🤣
Lots indeed. Not sure why you think it’s funny though.
Pyewackect · 09/05/2021 11:31

No but I knew somebody who put all his clothes, including all his suits , golf stuff, dinner jacket etc , in black plastic bags and left them on the front garden.

It was their twins birthday and she had told him a dozen times. He was late so she called him twenty times or more, which went straight to voicemail. Incandescent with rage she bagged his clothes and left them outside.

When he finally got back he explained that one of their warehouse guys had been crushed by a fork lift and he had to get the machine off him, stem the bleeding and follow him in the ambulance. He then had to call the guys wife and talk to the Police. By the time he'd done all that he was out of battery on his phone. She rushed outside but the bags had gone.

The only clothes he had were what he stood-up in.

That actually happened to me. My ex and I were having a very messy breakup and I went to stay with my cousin for a few days and when I came back to collect my stuff I found it strewn across the front lawn it had been there for about 3 days and everything was ruined.
He did it because he needed the cupboard space for his new girlfriend (one of my good friends) who had moved in in the interim.

Happycat1212 · 09/05/2021 11:33

Erm I threw my exes playstation off a balcony 🤭

MinnieJackson · 09/05/2021 11:34

My grandad came home really drunk on Xmas eve with a frozen turkey that wouldn't defrost in time when my dad was small. She hit him round the head with it and knocked him out, my dad still remembers crying saying 'mum, you've killed dad!' Sad
Another time he came in pissed and she did cut the legs and arms off his suits, then he threw her blouses in the fire.

LindaEllen · 09/05/2021 11:34

I haven't, but our current house and driveway is the perfectly laid out setting for it, so if DP and I do ever split up I'll try it for sure! I mean, it's his house, but whatever.

Maggiesgirl · 09/05/2021 11:39

No but I know somebody who drive their cheating husband out into the moors si they coukd "talk" away from the kids.
When he got out of the car for a cigarette she drove off and left him miles from anywhere. Grin this was pre mobile phone days. By the time he hit back she had boxed up his stuff and dumped it outside the OW house.

Maggiesgirl · 09/05/2021 11:40

Got back, not hit back

JovialNickname · 09/05/2021 11:40

I went to a Halloween party once at someone's home, and along with the plastic skeletons, fake cobwebs etc there was red spray paint all over the cream walls and all over the furniture, including across the front of the huge, brand new TV. Wow, I said, you really pulled all the stops out with the red paint. It wasn't me, he said, his girlfriend found out he'd been cheating on her and did it before she moved out!

Pugdogmom · 09/05/2021 11:41

I didn't chuck my cheating exes clothes out the window. I did however bag his clothes in bin bags and his suitcases and dumped them in his new girlfriends garden. I did ring the bell after I had done it, and waved sweetly from the car, and hooted the horn.

That was when he found out that I knew he was cheating, his face was a picture .😂

HelloOldSport · 09/05/2021 11:43

Because it is funny

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 09/05/2021 11:44

When he came home she locked the door and played the piano really loudly to drown out the sound of him banging on the door. She then threw all his clothes out of the window.

This made me laugh Grin. Think it’s just the image of her blasting away on the piano while he pleads to get in the house then she just throws his clothes out and cracks on with the piano playing again. Classic.

ItsCokeFFS · 09/05/2021 11:47

@user1471447863

And if the genders were reversed?
Well quite!

Anyone posting on here about their DH behaving in the same way would be told that he is a vile, dangerous abuser and needs reporting to the police immediately.

Yet somehow, when it is women doing this it is (apparently) hilarious Confused

PinkPurpleParade · 09/05/2021 11:50

My mum did this with my dad's when he left her after 30 years for someone 20 years younger.

Kljnmw3459 · 09/05/2021 11:54

I think I cut up a pair of my ex's trousers. And I threw one of his shirts in the bin. But i fetched it back because it was his favourite and i thought that's going too far....Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 09/05/2021 11:58

I saw it happen while waiting for an estate agent to turn up at a house I wanted to view...
I did not buy the house.

ladygindiva · 09/05/2021 11:58

My best friend has. She was about 21 and to be fair it was justified. I havent but I did use my artists acrylics to paint TWAT on the side of my exes van, not proud but in my defence I was hormonal and pregnant and he was behaving very badly.

fairgame84 · 09/05/2021 11:58

Me 🙋‍♀️
I did it. I was 18 or 19 at the time. Kicked him off and threw his clothes out of the upstairs window into the back garden.
He collected them the next day.

I haven't done it again and wouldn't now that I'm older and more mature. This was nearly 20 years ago.

IEat · 09/05/2021 11:59

I would if they cheated. Couldn’t be arsed to spend time cutting clothes but I would throw them out and then wet them just to make them heavier to carry . But I’m cruel and single

BashfulClam · 09/05/2021 12:01

Apparently mil did it when fil was made redundant. Poor guy was made redundant several times and she went a bit nuts during her menopause. She’s still a fucking idiot though.

abstractzebra · 09/05/2021 12:06

A manager at work, his wife turned up and flung all his stuff in the car park!
We were having a Christmas dinner and it was like entertainment laid on!
Other managers rushed to pick up all his stuff as he wasn't there and we laughed at one of them picking up a really garish suit with a smirk on his face.
There were jokes about thongs hanging off the trees!
He was a serial cheat and definitely not the sort of person who was respected as a manager and this didn't help matters! Confused

AliceMcK · 09/05/2021 12:08

I had friends who did this every time the argued, which was weekly.

I threw my ex-H wedding ring out the door into some bushes. During a fight he took it off and slammed it down in front of me, I told him if he was going to throw something away at least do it properly and opened the front door, flung it out of the house and slammed the door shut. He went nuts at me. I remember him shouting about me doing it to mine, I think I responded with something like I’m not that stupid to take mine off when I can sell it and at least get something out if the marriage 😬

Serenity45 · 09/05/2021 12:10

Yes Blush but I was young and he was a twat. I'm so calm now it's ridiculous!
