To think she can’t cut the puppy’s ears!

Poorpup201 · 07/05/2021 10:16

So I had to name change to post this. My friend was given a dog, a tiny little puppy by her boyfriend who breeds dogs Sad
Today the puppy is going to get its ears cut because her boyfriend thinks it looks better and he will have more chance to breed. She knows it’s illegal but she said he insists. I don’t know who’s going to crop this poor puppy’s ears but I honestly feel sick about this little baby being in pain. I don’t know how I can stop this, because my friend seems passive and because he said it’s happening it just is.

www.get-licensed.co.uk/licence/dog-breeding-licence

Dog breeders/sellers have to be licenced now too (even if they claim it's a 'hobby' or not a business). You can report to the Local Council Animal Licensing or Environmental Services Department.

JeffreyJefferson · 07/05/2021 13:54

knew it would be an american bully. You see LOADS of them with cropped ears. VILE PEOPLE turns me sick

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/05/2021 14:43

That poor dog Captain - even for cropped ears these are far too short and won't protect the inner ear from dust, seeds, flying insects or tiny children's fingers!

The article says that the dog had cropped ears when she bought him (though there is a suggestion that she had been photographed with it as a young uncrossed puppy), but even if this was so, by buying a cropped dog she is encouraging cropping - and as a public person is encouraging imitators.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/05/2021 14:43

*uncropped, not uncrossed

CarrieAntoinette · 07/05/2021 14:52

Your friend is being used by a criminal.

He hasn't given her a puppy. He's placed the dog with her so it can be shown to purchasers not living in a cage in a shed.

But I bet the other dogs are.

He's cropping the ears to misrepresent the dogs genes to purchasers of the puppies.

Call the police. There may already be an open investigation on him.

wigjuice · 07/05/2021 15:52

I really wouldn't be sending her articles and such drawing attention to yourself at this moment, especially if you are worried about reprisals, so good you have reported the vile scumbag. Hopefully the relevant bodies will sort his activities out.

Aprilshowersandhail · 07/05/2021 16:48

As a dc we had a Rottweiler with a docked tail.
As an adult I got a Rotty dpuppy with a gorgeous waggy tail!!
Why would you not want your ddog to be able to show emotions and tell you how it feels?
Imo chopping the man in questions penis off with a blunt implement would give me immense satisfaction..

Cryalot2 · 07/05/2021 17:02

You have done the right thing. Are these not defined as dangerous dogs?
No puppy should have anything cut off. The very thought of someone doing it to a puppy for finical gain is horrific.
The boyfriend sounds like a puppy farmer or one who supplies dogs for fighting. He needs locked up .
Hoping puppy is ok Flowers

Was this you OP

If so - you have done a brilliant thing - sad that it happened but at least the perpetrator is punished.

(Unfortunately, until the horror occurs, the law can't don anything - intention itself isn't a crime)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/05/2021 14:29

Sorry - just read the date of the offence and it's a different sadistic twat.

Hope "your" puppy is safe.

HarleyQuinn21 · 08/05/2021 14:30

He needs a license from the council to be a breeder and I doubt he has one so report him for that and call around police, RSPCA etc and report them now!

PearlclutchersInc · 08/05/2021 14:36

Jesus f*ing wept; there are people that shouldn't be allowed to look at an animal much less own one.

Your friend comes across as being a complete walkover.

Would calling the RSPSA achieve anything? Sorry that doesnt give you anything that you can use.

HappyRaven · 08/05/2021 16:04

Have you got the puppy? Have you reported him now you know the Facebook page?

KenAdams · 09/05/2021 06:45

Any update OP?

user1471542018 · 09/05/2021 06:51

Trading standards and in London area City of London are responsible for regulating dog breeding and welfare, and will actively investigate and prosecute ear cropping. Poor puppy.

bengalcat · 09/05/2021 06:59

I’d report what she’s told you to the Police and RSPCA immediately . Leave them to investigate and I’d break off the friendship .
You said her BF breeds dogs / puppy farms whatever - this won’t be the first or last puppy to suffer . No anaesthetic , risk of infection and severe pain thereafter as wounds heal . Disgraceful .

MissAmandaLa1kes · 09/05/2021 07:04

Call the police on them both, that is clear. If they are breeding dogs fir profit, you can bet they are not declaring the income to hmrc and if they are receiving state benefits they are not declaring the income there. Easy to report on hmrc and benefits websites. Animal abusers deserve to be drained.

WaltzingBetty · 09/05/2021 07:05

@Flowerlane

As the dog is in the UK and not a working dog then it is illegal.

Please report.

If the dog is anywhere in Europe it is illegal regardless of whether it works or not. In the Uk it is illegal full stop. There are no exceptions for working dogs
MrsRockAndRoll · 09/05/2021 07:13

Any update OP?

BeneathYourWisdom · 09/05/2021 10:04

It’s illegal in the U.K. to crop a pup’s ears.

Dogs need their ears to communicate.

Cropping was traditionally done to guard dogs to help them ‘hear’ better or working dogs who were at risk of having ears bitten or caught. And of course fighting dogs.

Nowadays it’s main purpose is to make the dog look ‘tough’ and intimidating. If they intend to breed from the dog for money, I imagine dog would have to win several illegal dog fights to be considered of any value as a stud male. Only ‘champion’ fighters are normally allowed to sire pups. And yes sadly those pups are worth a lot, and their father often sold for thousands on the black market.

Please contact the RSPCA/vet/police over this.

Furries · 10/05/2021 03:47

Why on earth would you not stay on the line when you were first in the queue?

Clippity-clop on, try better with your posting scenario next time.

Tossblanket · 10/05/2021 04:29

I can pretty much guess the type of breed and the breed of idiot who wants this procedure done.

I'm guessing a fighting type breed of dog and a skinny wannabe hard man who has these sort of dogs for status.

Tossblanket · 10/05/2021 04:44

Yep thought so, now I've read the thread.

Hopefully one of his dogs rips his throat out.

EmeraldShamrock · 10/05/2021 04:50

Disgusting poor pup, is it a status symbol? Or for protection during dog fights? It looks rough.
