To think she can’t cut the puppy’s ears!

So I had to name change to post this. My friend was given a dog, a tiny little puppy by her boyfriend who breeds dogs
Today the puppy is going to get its ears cut because her boyfriend thinks it looks better and he will have more chance to breed. She knows it’s illegal but she said he insists. I don’t know who’s going to crop this poor puppy’s ears but I honestly feel sick about this little baby being in pain. I don’t know how I can stop this, because my friend seems passive and because he said it’s happening it just is.

You are doing a good and brave thing. I hope he hasn’t had the dog’s ears cut yet. Poor thing. It’s pretty obvious this is breeding to fight. Awful.

Bloody hell! Scary looking dog. Looks like they chop their poor ears to little stumps! :( (nothing bloody or shocking in the link above just lots of different pics of the breed. Some still have their floppy ears and you can see a big difference)

No vet will do it - he'll be doing it himself with scissors or a Stanley knife. That pup will be in agony - it may well get infected and die.

They are quite terrifyingly powerful dogs.

I knew a family with two of them as pets with very young children. It always baffled me why you would take that risk.

I mean, I grew up with golden retrievers. I know any dog can turn but to be honest, the family
I knew had the dogs for some sort of shit “status”. They wouldn’t have considered a breed like a retriever because it wouldn’t make them look a certain way.

Ear cropping is so awful! There’s been a recent campaign against it, saw a segment on This Morning.

It’s mainly done by yobs who use these poor bull breeds as status symbols as it makes them look more aggressive. As a previous poster mentioned it’ll be done with scissors or a knife in one of these scumbags grotty kitchens.
The poor dogs are left with infection issues (in & out of the ear), trauma response (like you can’t pet their heads as all they associate it with is pain) and other dogs react badly towards them as they can’t read their body language relating to their ears.
Really despicable.

If he does take the puppy back, I would take a dated picture of it before he does. That way, if he has the puppy's ears cropped, you have evidence that it didn't have cropped ears before he took possession of it.

Well done OP. Doing the right thing isn’t always easy but it is always necessary.

He shouldn't be breeding dogs or children. Perfect rationale for chopping his dick off - and ears should you fancy.

Ask her how she will take this mutilated dog out for a walk or to a vet? How will she feel the puppy dies with an infection. I simply couldn't be friends with her anymore if she proceeds with this.

If you get the dpuppy ring her and say it was stolen from your garden... And hand it in somewhere suitable..

So RSPCA took my details, her details and said they will send someone round for a welfare check. She’s actually messaged and said she’s going to bring the puppy round to my house because shes working all weekend now.

Which is great as I’ve found his page where he sells dogs. I’m going to report him as soon as the puppy is here.

We got our pup from a rescue after some fucker docked her tail illegally. She dislikes police sirens and arrived at the rescue in the middle of the night so we think she was saved then. I hope they threw the book at the bastards that did it.

Who would even do this, some back street ear cropper? All sorts could go wrong, this is making me feel sick that there’s people out there that would do this. Would be an ex friend of mine for even potentially going along with it.

Point out to her that the penalty now for animal abuse/cruelty is up to 5 years in prison - its HER puppy, if she allows this SHE stands to recieve a similar penalty should they be caught, as well as her scummy boyfriend.
