Particularly as porn has become so much more mainstream in the past few years, I'd have thought that people would be concerned about premature sexualisation of children. Also I'm surprised that so many women are fine with it given that the humiliation and degradation of women is the central theme of pornography. You only have to look at the titles to realise that.

well said beautifulboysGalore

onebatmother · 14/11/2007 23:10

minority.. of one??
sadly, no.

ELF1981 · 14/11/2007 23:10

And you imply I make my posts based on... what exactly?

OverMyDeadBody · 14/11/2007 23:11

BBG what a good post, my sentiments exactly. Well written too.

Agree with minorityrules' last post too. Good stuff.

LuckySalem · 14/11/2007 23:11

actually E - You're doing what you're asking ELF not to do, you're telling her that her opinion is wrong which is what you're asking us not to do to you!

Elizabetth · 14/11/2007 23:11

I think young women got the idea that they had to take all their clothes off from lads mags who in turn based a lot of their content on 1970s porn they'd seen when they were boys. I'm sure I've read interviews with some of the Loaded crew who said they couldn't believe what they were able to get away with in their magazine.

"sex is not going away. it is perfectly freakin natural and healthy. and porn is an expression of sexuality... "

Or: 'porn is an expression of power"

LuckyUnderpants · 14/11/2007 23:12

agree with what Monorityrules said

onebatmother · 14/11/2007 23:13

and no-one here is demonizing sexuality, i don't think.
just this pretend expression of sexuality which is actually an expression of a power imbalance..?

OverMyDeadBody · 14/11/2007 23:13

yes, maybe, onebatmother, and maybe alos what minorityrules said. Maybe a combination of men's espectations based on porn and aggressive feminism? Who knows. I'd rather be warm personally!

OverMyDeadBody · 14/11/2007 23:14

smallwhitecat I'm cashless too. I've given up and decided all men are fat and balding and pervs. The nubile young ones are always gay from my experience

Elizabetth · 14/11/2007 23:14

I am, LS? I don't think I've asked anybody to do anything, but once again if you've got a quote go ahead and remind me.

ELF I have no idea what you base your opinions on. You haven't come up with any facts to support them though. Your claim that women are using male escorts is simply wrong. Women in general do not pay for sex, unlike one in ten UK men who has done exactly that.

policywonk · 14/11/2007 23:15

People are blaming feminism for porn. My head hurts.

Nappies (can't get used to the BeautifulBoys thing...) - I don't have a problem with sex. Honest. I don't see porn as sex, I see it as porn.

BeautifulBoysGalore · 14/11/2007 23:16

bloody nora - i am unfeasibly flttered to have so many posts congratulating mine. thank you
(bet theres a fevered response posted in the meantime now which makes this one look really daft!)

ELF1981 · 14/11/2007 23:16

"At least I base my arguments and opinions on facts."

That is bloody annoying and smug.

If you search the internet hard enough, you'll find enough "evidence" to agree aliens exist. Doesn't make it true.

Tortington · 14/11/2007 23:16

purleeese women were taking their clothes off long before that.

we have had this discussion numerous times. elizabeth and MT believe that porn is a flagrant misuse of power and consistant abuse of women in the industry.

others (muself included) think that the 'power' of which you speak is not confined to men.

there will be no "i see the light moment" for either side. the argument is futile - but no doubt i shall participate further

ELF1981 · 14/11/2007 23:17

You know what E, you're starting to get a little smug now and it is rubbing me the wrong way...

LuckySalem · 14/11/2007 23:17

Why do men pick the girl wearing the least clothing on a night out and then make them put it all on when they're together?!

We're arguing that women hide stuff when they get what they want.

OverMyDeadBody · 14/11/2007 23:18

well, if the argument is futile I'm going to bed (to dream of nubile young men.........)

Spidermama · 14/11/2007 23:18

Porn is seedy and nasty. Skinny, young women at the mercy of big thrusting brutes who're probably paid twice what they are.
Demeaning for the women who are objectified. I've heard talk of better porn which is aimed at women, but strangely enough I've never come across it.

I'd really like some actually, if I allow myself to dwell on the idea for a minute. Mmm hmmm. Oh yes.

Just thought I'd pop my two penneth in before going off to bed with a book.

ELF1981 · 14/11/2007 23:19

I claimed I had read ONE article about ONE male escort claiming his clients were women who had surplus cash.

I did not say that ALL women are using escorts.

please read my posts properly before you take out a personal issue with me and pratically claim I am talking garbage, thank you.

minorityrules · 14/11/2007 23:19

70's porn they'd seen when they were lads????

All men like looking at naked women, not because they were exposed to porn.

Naked women or men are not offensive, the human body is beautiful and SHOULD be admired.

Nakedness and porn is not the same

ELF1981 · 14/11/2007 23:20

custardo - I agree re power.
