Got a refund for a cancelled holiday and spent a little bit of it on a perfume I’ve been eyeing up as a “sorry you aren’t going to Amsterdam” present to myself. It is Lancôme La VIe est Belle Soleil Cristal and it is Devine! My new favourite. What is your favourite perfume?

YSL- Elle (tough to find now but still around online)
Armani- SI

I wish I liked La Vie Est Belle because I have a full bottle of it mouldering away upstairs. I love the smell alone, and on other people, but on my skin it just doesn’t work at all. Cloying and awful. Sad

Eau des jardins, Clarins.
It's light and clean without being sickly or too floral. Lots of perfumes give me a headache but this one is lovely.

FredaFox · 05/05/2021 20:49

Want to try Baccarat Rouge have bought Cloud by Ariana Grande as a cheaper alternative and had lots of comments but my go to signature scent is Tom Ford black orchid, wear it every day
Always liked Jean Paul Gaultier classique and scandal

I've always worn Chanel No 5 but I also love Kenzo Flower and in the last couple of years have discovered L'Occitane Herbae which is a gorgeous summer scent

SecretSpAD · 05/05/2021 21:00

Ha. Just one? Grin

My all time favourite is Chanel Coco. I love love love an ambery perfume - to the extent that my other two favourites are Jo Malones dark amber and ginger lily and a,bee and lavender. But Coco is the best always.

SecretSpAD · 05/05/2021 21:04

Commodity Mimosa (hardly ever in stock though

Can you still get Commodity? I had a sample of Book, fell in love and then the company folded

NoProblem123 · 05/05/2021 21:09

My 17 year old self says Tribe.

My current self says Chanel Chance

Becca8675309 · 05/05/2021 21:11

In autumn & winter I wear Coromandel by Chanel. Often get followed around shops and down the street by strangers - men and women- saying excuse me but what perfume are you wearing?

In summer I wear Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford.

When feeling nostalgic I like Paris by YSL - my 16 year old self's favourite - or Dolce Vita by Dior - reminds me of living in Sydney when I had buckets of it as the ad agency I worked at launched it - and I still adore Tresor by Lancome which reminds me of living in Tokyo - and Dazzling Silver by Estee Lauder which reminds me of my beloved stepchildren

SecretSpAD · 05/05/2021 21:11

Oh I forgot....chanel no5, JM BlackBerry and Bay, peony and blush suede, lime, basil and mandarin.

Then there's Black Opium, euphoria, obsession.

Bringing back memories...Lou Lou and Chloe narcisse

A reminder of my grandmother - Alyssa Ashley's Musk in the Black and silver ?) tube with the male and female symbols

Reminders of holidays and duty free with Lancôme hypnose and Georgio Armani Code.....

I have a problem Grin

Good Girl - Caroline Herrara

Blackberrycream · 05/05/2021 21:18

I love Mitsouko.
I would also really like a bottle of Portrait of a Lady. I will treat myself at some point. It’s expensive!

cheezy · 05/05/2021 21:21

Pomegranate Noir but only in the winter.

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 05/05/2021 21:23

@thecognoscenti it’s more than I’ve ever paid for perfume before but I love it! Thankfully the tiniest little spray lasts ages on me so I’m hoping I can make the bottle last a very, very long time.

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 05/05/2021 21:25

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby

ALL perfume within about 10 mins of wearing it smells rank on me.
Wear it on your clothes?
DidgeDoolittle · 05/05/2021 21:26

Chanel No5
Mitsouko
Liz Earle 15
Clarins Eau de Jardin, in the summer.

SavannahLands · 05/05/2021 21:27

Shalimar, and Chamarde, old French Favourites that take me back to when my first Daughter was born.

Channel No.5

Lady Millions, first discovered from a tester in store, but l picked the wrong one up, and actually went home wearing the Men’s Fragrance version! My DH laughed so much, he said that l smelled just like his Manager at Work, but he went out and bought me a bottle of the Lady’s fragrance for my Birthday a few weeks later!

For a cheap casual fragrance, l like Alien, although l haven’t bought any for a long time, after my daughter started buying me fragrances from the Next range.

From my Teenage years, Helena Rubinstein, Heaven Scent, pure Luxury that is no longer available, and the cheap copy is nothing like the real one was.

Looubylou · 05/05/2021 21:28

La vie est belle, girl of now, coco. Flower by kenzo. Also, oddly, had a retro moment, bought some sunflowers, which I hated when it came out in 80's or early 90's, and I'm loving it.

Looubylou · 05/05/2021 21:29

Forgot Britney as well - love them all as cheap spray it all over types

SappysCurry · 05/05/2021 21:29

toffeebonbon · 05/05/2021 21:31

Love Lancôme la vie est belle have worn it every day for the last 5 years! Always get compliments on the smell.

mygenericusername · 05/05/2021 21:32

I definitely use perfume by my mood.

YSL Elle - I’m happy. You may approach
Chanel no 5 - I’m in a serious let’s get business done mood
Angel - I know you hate my perfume. That’s why I wear it. Stay the fuck away

AdoraBell · 05/05/2021 21:34

Givenchy 111 is my absolute favourite.

Others, Chanel- Allure, Crystal, No 19
Pamela Picasso
Lancôme Tresor

A few others that I can’t think of right now.

NoProblem123 · 05/05/2021 21:36

Also because I’m cheap & nasty - The Body Shop’s Coconut body spray.
